Back in form, GWS face a serious test of it when they host Geelong in Canberra. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:35pm (AEST).
The Giants might have crushed Adelaide last week, but at 2-5, they and Leon Cameron are far from out of the woods yet. A victory over a serious contender like the Cats, though, might be proof for the rest of the footy world – and more importantly, the GWS board – that Cameron remains the right man for the job.
With 34 possessions and four goals respectively, co-captains Josh Kelly and Toby Greene were instrumental against the Crows, and will need to be again this week. In defence, Sam Taylor was brilliant against Tom Hawkins when these two sides met late last year.
The Cats are also coming in off defeat, a surprise loss to a red-hot Fremantle at their home fortress. That came despite the best efforts of Tom Stewart, who with 40 disposals, was Herculean across half-back.
Up forward, Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron endured quiet days, but with no Phil Davis in the Giants’ defence, one or both may get the chance to get off the chain. If they do, the home side’s chances of victory in the nation’s capital will grow all the slimmer.
