A marathon of football continues as the Melbourne Demons host the Port Adelaide Power for a Thursday night clash at the Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

Port Adelaide have been labelled many things this year, but most regularly premiership contenders. Last week’s shock loss to St Kilda has the potential to change that. They still sit first on the ladder but have lost the one-game buffer they had above second-placed Brisbane.

The Demons sit in 13th, but recent form contains a pair of decent wins and a close-run loss to the Lions last weekend. Given Brisbane’s ladder position, that defeat proved the Dees could be a threat to higher-ranked teams. Tonight they have the ability to be spoilers against the finals-bound Power.

The South Australians have won three of their last five against the Demons, including both clashes in 2018 and 2019, but the Victorians have a slightly better record at this ground than their opponents.

Both teams have made several changes to their line-ups. Simon Goodwin hasn’t picked Harley Bennell and Neville Jetta, with Tom Sparrow and Tom McDonald the two inclusions.

The Power have lost Todd Marshall to injury and have dropped Riley Bonner. Midfielder Tom Rockliff and Jarrod Lienert come into the squad.
