Welcome to the City of Churches where Port Adelaide play host to the Melbourne Demons as we open Round 4 with Thursday night footy at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores, coverage and analysis from 7:40pm (AEST).

Jordan Dawson broke the hearts of the Alberton faithful last Friday night, with a kick after the siren, to sink the Power by four points. Port are yet to win a game this season and have been the most disappointing of last year’s top-eight teams.

Despite missing a crucial set shot with two minutes left on the clock, gun midfielder and veteran, Travis Boak, had an amazing game last week. He amassed 28 disposals (15 contested and 82.1 per cent efficiency), 479m gained and eight tackles. His leadership and skill are key to guiding Port through this difficult start to the 2022 campaign.

Todd Marshall kicked five goals against the Crows and will be up against arguably the best defence in the competition in Melbourne. Hopefully, he can pick up where he left off last week.

The undefeated Demons were challenged in patches last week against Essendon, but ultimately the class of their midfield and stability in the backline were too much for the Bombers to overcome. Christian Petracca was heavily tagged last week and his impact was limited for the majority of the match. This could be a tactic that Ken Hinkley adopts tonight.

Angus Brayshaw and Clayton Oliver were prolific in the midfield last week and carried any slack left from a tagged Petracca. Sam Weideman held his spot in the side after Ben Brown was only due to clear H&S protocols on Thursday morning and subsequently missed the flight across to South Australia.

I am going to live dangerously with my tip on this one and say that Port can pull off a nail-biting win at home by four points to win their first game of the year.
