The Port Adelaide Power welcome the struggling North Melbourne Kangaroos to Adelaide Oval tonight in a quest to surge up the ladder. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 7:50pm (AEST).
Ken Hinkley’s side are coming off a huge win. The Power defeated the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium last weekend by 42 points.
Winning in the west is considered the toughest place to prevail for opposition sides, but the Power did not just win, they thumped the reigning premiers in every department.
It was also a big win in the context of Port Adelaide’s season. They now sit 3-2, which is not a bad start at all when there are also a number of either sides with the exact same record.
Ollie Wines was electric for the Power last week. The midfielder reeled in 35 disposals for the game, which went a long way to gaining the points.
It was a very even display from the Power forwards, also. Brad Ebert, Sam Gray and Xavier Duursma all kicked two majors each to round off a spectacular win on the road.
In team news this week for the Power, there are no changes from the victory against the Eagles.
As for North Melbourne, it was a Good Friday to forget. Brad Scott’s side were defeated by the Essendon Bombers at Marvel Stadium by 58 points.
The Kangaroos now sit 1-4, and with that being the case, the season is well and truly done for the team from Arden Street.
This was not supposed to happen. With the recruits that North Melbourne brought in over the off-season, the reality is, they were supposed to be a better package in 2019. As of right now, they look miles off the pace.
There were few positives against the Bombers, but Trent Dumont and Shaun Higgins both accumulated 30 disposals each. Ben Brown also managed to kick two majors.
In team news this week for the Kangaroos, Nick Larkey, Luke McDonald and Tarryn Thomas all come into the side. Jy Simpkin, Bailey Scott and Paul Ahern have been omitted.
Prediction
North Melbourne’s last victory against Port Adelaide came in 2014, which ultimately means the Power have won the last four outings.
That statistic alone, and the fact the Kangaroos are well off the pace this season, will result in the Power winning the game by a decent margin
The Power by 37 points.
