Port Adelaide and Geelong will face off in the second qualifying final at Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).

Both teams head into this final wanting to claim a week’s rest and book their ticket for the Preliminary Final. The loser will need to win four games to win the premiership.

The Power have won 11 of their last 13 games, including their last six matches. The Cats have only lost three times since May and have gone 12-3 in their last 15 matches. Mitch Duncan comes in for Geelong, while Orazio Fantasia is back for Port Adelaide.

At the Adelaide Oval this year Port Adelaide are 8-3, but one of their losses was against the Cats by 21 points in June. It was a tight affair for three quarters before Geelong booted 6.2 to 4.3 in the final quarter.

Ollie Wines is having a standout year for Port, ranked third for disposals in the AFL with 32.9 per game and third in total contested possessions.

For Geelong, Tom Hawkins will play his 300th game and Joel Selwood will level the Cats games record at 332.

Prediction
Last year these teams met in a Qualifying Final in Adelaide where Port were the minor premiers and Geelong finished in fourth. The Power held on to win by 16 points in a gritty affair.

Expect a similar arm wrestle tonight from two string sides that are in form.

If Geelong can get Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins firing early, their potency alone will cause headaches for Port’s defenders. Last time they met the pair kicked nine goals between them.

Both teams possess midfield depth, so this game will be won or lost at the stoppages. Whoever can gain the midfield ascendancy will book their Preliminary Final ticket.

It’s really hard to look past Port Adelaide at home. With Charlie Dixon, Robbie Gray, Connor Rozee up forward, and the likes of Travis Boak in the midfield, they have a lot more options to kick a winning score.

Port Adelaide by 16 points.

Catch all the action on The Roar live coverage from 7:50pm (AEST).
