Match result:

The Richmond Tigers have defeated the Carlton Blues by 28 points at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

It was a wet and windy day in Melbourne, which did suit Damien Hardwick’s side. They were better for longer, and it showed come the final siren.

For the Tigers, Dion Prestia had a solid game, as he accumulated 35 disposals. Jack Graham was very sharp in front of goal, as he booted four majors for the match.

As for David Teague’s side, they were too slow to adapt to the conditions. They pressed hard in the final quarter, but they just had too much to do.

For the Blues, Patrick Cripps had a good game, as the midfielder accumulated 37 disposals. Mitch McGovern finished with two majors next to his name.

Final score
Richmond Tigers 11.7.73
Carlton Blues 6.9.45

This game has the potential to be a beauty, and that stems from the fact that both sides are playing some seriously good football, just as we approach the end of the home-and-away season.

The Tigers have had a season where injuries have taken a toll, but Damien Hardwick has just started to get some key players back, and it is showing when it comes to the results.

A top-four finish is looking likely for the Tigers, as they have accumulated 13 wins from 19 games, but with the competition being as tight as it is, they need to keep winning.

Richmond are coming off a 33-point victory over the Melbourne Demons, which took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last weekend.

Dustin Martin was terrific for the Tigers in the midfield against the Demons, as he accumulated 34 disposals. Bachar Houli was also impressive, as he finished the game with 32 disposals next to his name.

Tom Lynch booted three majors to continue his solid debut season at Punt Road, also.

In team news this week for Richmond, Ivan Soldo (omitted), Dan Butler (omitted) and Martin (injured) all make way. Toby Nankervis, Sydney Stack and Jack Ross are the inclusions.

As for the Blues, since David Teague has taken over as the caretaker coach, they look a completely different side.

The Blues have chalked up six wins from 19 games for the season, but under Teague, they have chalked up five wins from eight games.

Carlton were unable to claim a victory last week, as they came up against the West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium, but they did show enough to suggest they could give Richmond a challenge.

The Blues lost by 24 points, but there were plenty of positives regardless. Sam Walsh was immense for Carlton, as the youngster found the ball 31 times, showing his poise and class.

Nic Newman was very good in front of goal, as he booted four majors for the game. Michael Gibbons kicked three majors, also.

In team news this week for the Blues, Angus Schumacher (omitted), Andrew Phillips (omitted), Matthew Kennedy (omitted) and Hugh Goddard (omitted) all make way.

Liam Jones, Matthew Kreuzer, Dale Thomas and Mitch McGovern are the inclusions.

Prediction
Both the Tigers and the Blues have hit form towards the end of the season, but the Tigers will have too much quality in this clash.

Also, the fact the game is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground definitely helps Richmond.

The Tigers by 20 points.
