Show Preview

North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell celebrates his 200th career game after a difficult week for the club against the in-form St Kilda. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 1:10pm (AEST).

Ziebell has been a heart and soul player from the moment he walked in the door at Arden Street, and brings up the milestone after years of dealing with injuries and suspension from his bash-and-crash style of play.

Reinvented as a forward this year, he has thus far been unable to turn things around for the Roos, who sit 17th on the ladder with a dismal percentage and just one win for the season to date.

After a turbulent week for the club, during which three members of the recruiting department walked out to draw plenty of media criticism, Ziebell would love nothing more than to mark the occasion with an against-the-odds win.

Brett Ratten’s side have been impressive so far this season winning seven of their first ten matches to find themselves within one win of the Top four.

The Saints were challenged against Adelaide last week but managed to boot eight goals in the final term to sink the Crows on their home deck. This afternoon they should have a much simpler task against a struggling Kangaroos side who have only won a solitary game this season.

The Saints will still be without their skipper, Jack Steele, for this match but there is one man who I think will be the glue that holds this midfield together. Seb Ross is having his best year since 2019 and has impressive numbers against the Kangaroos across his career. He averages 25 disposals against North Melbourne and has been impressive in Steele’s absence.

If the Kangaroos are able to stop his delivery out on the wing and Brad Crouch in the centre, it will go a long way to holding up this impressive Saints side. They are also going to need to contend with Max King taking marks and kicking goals for fun.
