After last week’s incredible win, Essendon head to the SCG full of confidence against a Sydney outfit beginning to look on shaky ground. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:25pm (AEST).

The Bombers defied poor recent form and a staggering five late outs due to illness to stun Hawthorn with an eight-goal final quarter to come from the clouds and win.

Four of those five, including 2020 best and fairest winner Jordan Ridley, return to take on the Swans, strengthening the line-up. Now seemingly willing to take the game on rather than handball themselves into trouble, the Dons can rightly consider themselves a chance of a second straight upset.

The Swans are one of the sides seen as hot on the heels of reigning premiers Melbourne, but consecutive losses at home to Brisbane and Gold Coast have left them vulnerably placed.

Ruckman Tom Hickey is a vital return after five weeks out with a knee injury, while small forwards James Bell and Sam Wicks have been included to provide pressure as much as more goalkicking options.

Both teams have successfully clamped down on the Swans’ trademark run and carry game, which doesn’t necessarily suit the Bombers. It will be up to Ben Rutten to find a way to force Sydney outside their comfort zone, otherwise an upset win will be hard to pull off.
