Interview with Perth Glory defender and CuraƧao international Darryl Lachman

This squad has suffered a ton of injuries which has played a rather large part in why form has stunted. You’re expecting too much from players in a short period of time. A bit too unrealistic playing games with 3 days rest and expecting the club to be in top 4.

Why Richard Garcia needs to leave Perth Glory

No you didn’t. You just said he blamed the scheduling. You didn’t say that the fixture scheduling was a factor of our poor form, which it has been. Because we haven’t been able to play a consistent starting XI because of it

Why Richard Garcia needs to leave Perth Glory

Interesting article. Clearly, this season has not been as successful as it probably should’ve been. While I think there have been multiple problems with Richie, this article hasn’t mentioned many factors that have contributed to our failures. It looks like you’ve mainly criticised Garcia for using the 2 formations (4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1) and the fact that he hasn’t got the best out of the majority of the squad. Yet why have you not mentioned travel, the congested fixture list, injuries, the reliance on youth, trying to play a system to get the best out of the attackers and an inexperienced manager trying to form a squad in an almost non existent pre season. I understand there are reasons why maybe it is time we went in another direction but surely you can’t sack him just because he plays a 4-4-2. Further, not once this season have we been able to play our best 11 on paper. Also, is that last line seriously necessary? VERY harsh.

Why Richard Garcia needs to leave Perth Glory

WSW 2-1 Roar: I feel that the Wanderers have something to prove after not taking all 3 points against Adelaide. Should come out with plenty of intent and get the win in a very tight game.

WU 3-2 CCM: Very, very, very difficult game to call. I’ll back United in this one because of the home advantage and because of Diamanti – the guy is unbelievable.

MCY 3-1 MVC: Should be a really easy game to call here. City are one of the favourites for the championship while Victory are down the bottom. Although Vuck could pull off a miracle performance, I’d expect City to showcase their class in this game.

Sydney 1-0 Adelaide: Difficult game to call. I’ll back Sydney in this clash, however don’t be surprised to see the Reds take all 3 points here.

Macarthur 3-0 Jets: The bulls are different gravy at the moment, and despite a 2-1 defeat against the Roar, I expect them to comfortably beat the Jets.

Glory 4-3 Wellington: El Classico has nothing on this fixture, as the Distance Derby is easily the best game the A-League has to offer. Glory have a LOT to prove for me, as the club has been dishing out mediocre performances since the beginning of March. I expect this game to be end to end, especially with Glory’s attack resembling an oncoming storm but their defence being as soft as a butterfly’s fart. Expect the home side to take all 3 points.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 17

Thank you so much Stuart. Yeah probably a little bit too optimistic to be thinking that they could contend for the A-League, with the defense being a bit of an issue. Castro is definitely the key to us making the finals and if the defense gains a little bit of consistency, then things may turn out for the better.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Thanks mate! Well this will be an interesting season for Perth and it already has been, so hopefully they can make the finals. Yes, we were very good back in the NSL days and hopefully in the near future we can carry that success over to the A-League.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Yeah we have a few decent players (i.e. Timmins for CM, Bondar for CB and Bramwell for ST) but I feel we still need to recruit more players.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Yeah fair enough. It’s not always easy to back up games scoring 4/5 every week. But players like Castro and Fornaroli have been drying up recently. Investment in younger attackers must be a high priority.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Well to be fair, for the most part of the season we didn’t have those three players. Instead we were relying on players like Dane Ingham or Josh Rawlins (players who don’t have a lot of A-League experience). I don’t think it’s fair to blame Garcia when he’s had a lot of things go against him, in particular the congested fixtures and the injuries to key players.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

He’s about 1-2 weeks away from fully recovering from an ACL injury. The club is being very cautious and want him to be 100% before they even think about playing him.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Yeah fair enough. Consistency was always going to be a problem, and having spoken with Richard Garcia, he acknowledges that playing for the majority of the season with young players, there will always be a consistency problem. Am still backing them to make the finals though.

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

I can see why you would have Glory finishing outside the top 6. Yeah, it will be interesting to see what will happen in the next 2-3 years at Glory in terms of their recruitment, as we are relying on players who are not far away from finishing their careers (i.e. Bruno and Castro). Also agree that the club has to invest in a new GK and CM, ideally people who are young and have a good potential!

Are Perth Glory finals contenders or pretenders?

Wanderers 2-2 City – will be a tight affair, with both teams in very good form
Western United 2-1 Brisbane – Western should be too strong here, expect Diamanti to have another good performance
Mariners 2-1 Victory – Mariners to beat Victory in a close, but ultimately comfortable match
Perth 4-0 Jets – Perth to finally find their stride again, and with the home crowd behind them, expect them to find their goalscoring form again
Macarthur 1-0 Wellington – will be a close game, but the Bulls should be able to edge the Nix
Adelaide 0-1 Sydney – another tight game, but I expect Sydney to be hungry after a missed opportunity against the Glory
