Thomas actuallly sat up with 50meters to go because he thought he had it. Foolish mistake – accidents happen.

Epic intermediate sprint, Kelderman from Blance rolled two sky riders, but Thomas appears to have taken 3rd, and 1 second.

Sky is still leading out for Thomas. They are really driving it.

Feeling sorry for Bernard Eisel who peeled about 1km ago and will now have to chase, or hang on for dear life.

Boassen hagen has ridder about 70% of this total race so far in the wind, no exaggeration. The young Norwegian is a machine.

Lampre moves up for the assumed leading out of one of their riders. Surely not Matt Lloyd. That would be quite funny actually… “57kg climber pumps the sprinters in the sprint.”

The sprint approaches, next lap, and Sky are ramping it up with Eisel and Boassen Hagen. The two ‘big men’ are used to this type of punishment. For the record Bernard Eisel is an amazing kind and polite man, a genuinely nice guy.

Bobridge would be relishing in the work on the front, as he is in ‘training mode’ this time in the year.

My assumption was correct. It appears team Blanco has made a deal with Sky to help control the race, to benefit both parties.

Well as I just said, the pressure from Team Sky to bring the breakaway back has decimated the breakaway. They’re all back together.

Team Sky and Team Blanco have been showing the most interest in the chase. They seem to have made a deal to help keep the race in check for Slagter (Blanco), but also for Thomas (Sky) and his sprints.

Just to recap, 7 men are off the front. Jens Voigt (Radioshack) driving with prominence, Calvin Watson (UniSA) is present too.

Geraint Thomas needs those sprints to move into 3rd coverall so he has his team gunning down the breakaway at the moment.

Welcome again folks and we are now live. 2 laps to go before the first time bonus and Team Sky are looking (and have stated prior to the stage) that they want those sprints.

Fairytales, cover-ups and sporting fantasy
Hi guys,
The two things that make those two dudes stand out in a bunch kick for me, is how composed they are in the lead out. The two km’s proceeding the finale is the most hectic and you notice the sprinters who are ‘in the hurt box’ when they are bombing down the outside, or swaying their upper bodies when they try and bump themselves into the train.
Kittel and Greipel are certainly ‘hitting’ at the moment, but Gossy will be keen to nab a stage for the sponsors too…

“The Time Trials are horrible and boring affairs that truly epitomise the masochism that pervades this sport.”
I’ve never read such a pertinent and concise phrase.

David vs Goliath battle for the green(EDGE) and gold
Adam Phelan the evergreen strongman took a solo bid immediately after the sprint. Perfect timing. Textbook attack, but it looks as if some guys are chasing him down.
