Good point MM. No one expects him to win the match but you would hope he takes a lot out of it. Playing the best players gives you an idea of where your game needs to be, and then it’s a matter of going away and getting better, fitter and stronger.

Hogg was selected for the 2012 T20 World Cup but didn’t perform well. ( 2 wickets @ 78)

I think Hodge would be a good selection though, and it would be a nice turnaround from the perpetual snubbings he’s had for the past 15 years.

Select Hodge and Hogg for T20 World Cup

To be fair to Tomic, I think he was about 12 when he said that.

The big question mark over Tomic's ticker

I rather dislike the Perth squad so I hope the Sixers take them down.

BBL Game 20: Sydney Sixers v Perth Scorchers

Maxwell’s bowling is pretty ordinary…not sure I’d be confident of getting 10 overs out of him. Come to think of it his batting is pretty ordinary also.

Nathan Lyon should be in Australian ODI side

Hewitt is good, there’s a career in it for him after he hangs the racquet up.

Wally Masur, Roger Rasheed and Daren Cahill all provide excellent analysis as well.

Who are the best tennis commentators?

Yes it would be nice to see Ludeman improve with the bat because he’s an excellent ‘keeper.

Who should replace George Bailey?

I’d take Wade or Paine along – it’s too important a position to risk especially if there’s no suitable ‘part-time’ keeper in the squad. I also like the idea of Cam White if he keeps his good form up. It feels like he’s been around forever but he’s only 30 and has plenty of years left in him.

1. Rogers
2. Warner
3. Watson
4. Clarke
5. Smith
6. White
7. Haddin
8. Johnson
9. Harris
10. Siddle
11. Lyon

12. Pattinson
13. Faulkner
14. Wade
15. Lynn
16. Starc/Bird/Cummins (assuming one of the three will be fit by then)

Lynn, Maddinson and Sayers should tour South Africa

Great session for Aus… 1/107

He and MJ have been the stand-out players. It’s hard to split them. Warner in 3rd place with over 500 runs.

Huss has still got it… seeing them like watermelons in the BBL.

I like the look of Lynn, and he’s having a good shield season to go with his big hitting in the T20.

The English top 6 have actually outscored him this summer… which gives you an idea of how well George is going.

I’m sure they will – he’s shown enough to persevere with. I do think he’s more of a 6, but we don’t have an abundance of top order quality right now to shift him down.

That’s harsh on Haddin. He’s played a lot of important knocks throughout his career and has consistently averaged 35-40 batting at number 7.

You wouldn’t say Smith’s career is on the line just yet but it’s a big innings for him too. He’s had a pretty disappointing series apart from that innings in Perth and needs to start showing more consistency.

I think he’s performed much like we thought he would. I.e. the occasional T20-esque cameo mixed with a lot of failures. His temperament might be test standard, but his technique isn’t.

Clarke started the series strongly but has faded in the past few tests.

Morphett and Jim Maxwell are the ball by ball callers… they’re always paired up with a former player like O’Keeffe, Henry, Bryce McGain etc.

Kerry O'Keeffe - one out of left field!

Dhawan on the back of one decent innings?

My best Test XI of 2013

Agreed. On the surface it’s hard to understand the fascination with Doolan given his fairly mediocre career to date.

Doolan and Coulter-Nile must play at Sydney

Nothing wrong with the DRS mate – showed conclusive evidence that it wasn’t out.

Just poor umpiring/3rd umpiring on this occasion, yet again.

When did anyone ever doubt his super rugby ability? He has plenty to prove at test level after melting down in the RWC and having done little since.

Great try Reds

Disagree.

He’s an out and out fullback… just needs a chance to show it at origin level.

Hayne's not a fullback nor a five-eighth, he's a winger
