Was it openly known that he would receive a 2nd year after finishing last? That’s what needs to be confirmed, if so that explains it. If not then being in a results based industry, they shouldve pulled the pin

Scripting a Mariners A-League fairytale

If there’s contact in the box, you are entitled to go down. Plain and simple

Scripting a Mariners A-League fairytale

Are we not in a results base business? Did he not deserved to get sacked last year? They finished last! Any other team sacks the coach

Scripting a Mariners A-League fairytale

this is the same coach that took them to last place the previous season right? lol and now he’s
lauded as some form of coaching messiah? Hes in the same over rated category of australian coaches
like milicic. He’s incredibly lucky to still have his job (any other team would’ve sacked the coach in
the same position for finishing last)

As for the matildas job, maybe i wont go too deep into that subject, because it got me on the moderation
list lol. Regardless whether you believe any of the claims are/were true (and yes he did get his name
cleared). All that innuendo will stick with him throughout his career, its no different to a player that
dives; they will get the reputation of being a diver regardless if they dont dive ever again

Scripting a Mariners A-League fairytale

melbourne is a fully paid up member of the east coast mafia 😛

what and you think the owners we’ve had over the years have been much better? Yes, they provided stability but year after year it didn’t matter if its online forums or actual fan forum days where you can ask questions to the club directly in person.
The common dominator has always been about more money to be challenging the elite teams, we have an absolute free run here in SA (unlike NSW where you have multiple a league teams) Unfortunately and to the surprise of many eastern staters; our budget is not much higher than yours and Newcastle’s. Yet we still consistently make the top 6 and have won several trophies and done exceptionally well in the ACL given our shoe string budget
Haha you really want to go the entertainment factor will attract more fans argument that I’ve had with many people on here before? We are in the entertainment business; it is the club’s duty to play a style that will entertain the fans (many posters on here need to realise this)!!!!! Unfortunately, many teams in the league aren’t entertaining to watch (victory play like a lower league English team crossing to their big man, Brisbane play long ball like a lower league English team as well & thuggery united tactical foul all match)
I’ve been a season ticket holder since day 1, I go whether we’re top/bottom in blistering heat or torrential rain pour. To me that’s what separates a real fan from a bandwagon/plastic fan. I’ve travelled all across the country to watch my team play (only 4 more stadiums to complete my set, I won’t be going to macarthur though because their cow bells drive me nuts lol) Anyone can support their team when they’re winning, but what about when they’re losing?
There’s been many decisions by the club over the years that I’ve had issues with (eg. Coaches, board members, recruitment). But never once have I not wanted to attend a match or renew my membership. There’s not too many what I call ‘hardcore fans’ like myself left, in most clubs in the league and that’s the real shame at the end of the day

Danger game

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

The question is where have these other several thousand fans been each week when they were rock bottom? Bandwagon fans are the worst!! Support your team whether they’re top or bottom

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

Way too many posters are too confident about us battering victory lol. This is the toughest test we’ve faced so far in 2021, given the circumstances of victory’s season

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

how’s the interstate away form going Huddo? in particular in Adelaide 🙂

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

the bulls have been the most over rated team this season, by fans and the media.
That is an old old old squad, managed by by the most over rated coach with no goals in it on paper.
Derbyshire has surprised me, but he just stays in the 6 year box and scores his 1 metre tap ins. Its not
that hard to do when the opposition defenders make an awful error.

They have not played 1 full 90 minutes well of football. (played an amazing 45 mins against us though)
Theyve had games where there keeper has been the best player, scored alot of goals from other teams
making school boy mistakes and had the luxury of playing almost all there games in nsw with very minimal
injuries

I am yet to watch a home game of theirs due to that insufferable cow bell noise, reminds me of the
vuvuzela noise. Lets get them travelling interstate and a couple of injuries and see how they cope
because the are doing alot better then expected, especially with the amount of goals theyve scored;
(which i anticipated to be a lot less.) You look at that squad on paper and wonder where the goals will come
from.

As for the mariners, i dont see how its possible they have come from dead last for multiple seasons
to be first with a very similar squad and same coach (any other team in this league is sacking thier
coach after finishing last). They’re massively over achieving, but im happy for them to have all the
attention. Because the real dark horse potentially could go clear in 2nd place with a win and other
results as well as a game in hand

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

MCY 2 vs 0 MAC- city are starting to find form after a sluggish start, goals are starting to flow for
them finally. The bulls are still in a position they dont deserve to be in, a 2nd loss on the trot
for them here and depending on results they could drop to as low as seventh.

SYD 0 vs 0 NEW – jets have been surprisingly competitive this season, but the issue is where are the
goals going tocome from? Sydney need a 36 year old to score goals which shows you how impotent a team
they are. Two of the tightest defence in the league, that would normally mean a stalemate. Which is
what i think will happen.

MVC 1 vs 2 ADL match of the round!, so many different permutations. Victory were embarassing last week
and deserved the anger they recieved from supporters. That result was the worst possible outcome
knowing that we have to face them after that performance against city.

I see JP has been announced as part of the coaching staff, he possibly could undercut breber here. If
victory lose, i feel they have no option but to sack brebner. He is a dead man walking, its just a
matter of when not if; they pull the trigger. Brebner has been talking about whole sale changes to the
squad, does this mean we might see more of the youth that have mysteriously vanished from melbourne?

There is nothing worse than facing a wounded animal, generally there is some form of fight.
I can see us winning 2-0 and going clear in 2nd spot on the ladder, but i can also see us losing this
match as well. First game of our season i’ve been very uncomfortable to try and predict due to all the
circumstances. We’ve definitely got a goal in us away from home, but how many do victory have in them?
My first away match this season as well, the teams got a good record when i travel. Maybe thats a
sign lol

CCM 0 vs 1 PER – the mariners winning in perth was probably the shock result of the season so far. I
still don’t believe they are the real deal and i think perth could do a late smash and grab and leave
gosford with all 3 points

WUN 2 vs 0 BRI – thuggery united have been blowing hot and cold all season, there are too many goals in
that team for them to not be higher up the ladder. Berisha to come back and haunt his former club.
I just dont see who scores brisbanes goals (espeially when they travel), Brisbane to finally drop out
the 6 with this loss and other results and continue there descent to finishing 8th or 9th this season

WSW 2 vs 2 WEL- which version of the 2 teams will turn up? this could be a very exciting or very boring
match, lets go with the former and say a high scoring draw.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Matchweek 12

Probably because half there youth teams over the past few years have been adelaide players lol

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

he’s a chequebook managers, he cant develop young players (like a manager is supposed to do) he just buys them

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

the a league is a developmental and selling league. It always has been and always will be.
the smallers clubs (central/newcastle/adelaide) develope young players and sell them on.

the larger clubs (victory/sydney/city) buy older players that still have a bit of life in them and then
sell them on for a profit after 1/2 good years in the a league.

do you think we got rid of 13 players (the most in the a league) from last years squad because
we didnt need to the money? Develope and sell that should be the a leagues motto, unfotunately melbourne
missed the memo on this because they have no good kids and sydney are struggling because theyre
being forced to actually play younger players for a change

why have a ladder? well the point is to have relegation, so teams like central coast wouldnt finish
bottom for multiple seasons because they would’ve been relegated years ago

why even have a salary cap? it has never made the league fair like it was meant to do

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

generally you dont win anything with several players in your matchday squad under the age of 18.
One week they’re great, the next they’re not existant. The point is you have to keep the faith in them
and continually play them to improve. The salary cap was introduced to make it even for all clubs,
unfortunately its never happened. The rich clubs (sydney/victory/city) just get richer, the poorer
clubs (central coast/newcastle/adelaide) have to develope there own players. The a league is a selling
league, maybe once transfer fees locally are introduced you might see a shift towards the smaller clubs
Before the years out you’ll see a 15 year old musa toure make his debut as well as ang costanzos son (dominic).

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

disagree, one of the clubs you mentioned has always made it clear they will bring local homegrown talent through to the first team. There’s a reason per population it produces the most a league players as was stated in the FA report that was released

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

where your argument fails is you have several million people opposed to 1.6 million people, of course
you should have more players in all age groups representing austalia, your pool is miles bigger
than south australia lol.

the majority of these under age australian players dont even get a chance in your first team lol

you have this fascination with beating adelaide, (much like the other posters here) and so you should.
We’re the form team of the comp at the moment on the longest winning streak, comfortably entrenched in
the top 4 with an injury riddled squad, playing talented kids. while youre….. relying on a 36 year old
to save your season

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

i didnt think you were a justin timberlake fan 😂

and of course you reply with “get a better owner” that generally requires someone with money. There is day and night between majority of clubs finances, something you still fail to realize with comments like that

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

a fair few of the ex pats seem to be getting wound up with my comments re british football.
Everyone is taking it far to personal, take the heart away and think of it with your head.
I never said i hated british football, i said the 80/90s are gone and australian teams shouldn’t
play UK style. (run, tackle, cross to lanky striker, rinse repeat)

Victory play like a div 2/div 1/championship team. They’re possibly the richest club in this league
and they play like that? Australian players already know how to run non stop, pass sideway, tackle
and header from the under 10 age group. Its the technical skills from a grass roots level where they’re
lacking and unfortunately they wont learn that from British style coaching.

I’ve seen it first hand here in adelaide where we’ve had; cassio, cristiano, marcos flores and marcelo
carrusca running coaching clinics, they are teaching australian kids so differently to how a a UK
coach would and has before them

How do Melbourne Victory save themselves from ruin?

fingers crossed for the crash and burn

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

If any other club had even half the money you’ve spent inside & outside the cap , i guarantee you they would win that many titles as well. chequebook club, why dont you focus on a metric that every team is capable of winning…… developing youth players into first XI players, something you’ve barely done until this season when your hands were tied because covid took away all your $$$$$$

For how long can Sydney FC carry Kosta Barbarouses?

hopefully Sydney’s struggles continue, this will teach them for not investing in youth properly. You can’t keep throwing 6 figures on every 30+ player that becomes available and neglect the future (ask melbourne victory how there kids are going. Elite club mentality though isn’t it? plastic club with plastic fans, let there suffering continue.

They have had the most 30+ OAPs over the course of the entire a league as well as the least amount of youth team players play in their first XI. Cheque book club/managers like 90’s man utd, current man city. It guarantees success, yes but its cost the club its soul. Hopefully this is the start of there man utd like fall.

anyways good luck benching kosta with the contract/wage he’s on. You’re better off playing him as a winger rather than a striker
