One of them will win, surely, and I’ve decided to go with the home team without much confidence btw

Super Rugby Round 16: We’re catching Nobes!

kicks, licks, clicks, Nobes?

Super Rugby Round 16: We’re catching Nobes!

It’s more likely that we’ll be watching that ‘final’ in Argentina at brekkie, NV, while the Kiwis will be attending their local ‘church’ services at that hour.

The Wrap: It’s all about the rugby FFS

“But there is no such concept in rugby. It’s quite ok for a player to bobble or juggle the ball out of his hands, as long as the act of forcing/grounding the ball with his torso, arm, wrist or hands is simultaneous with the ball hitting the ground.”

I’m no expert on the rules but that is my understanding too, GP. But somehow the translation of the rules seems to have been sort of corrupted over the past few seasons IMO. Makes me wonder whether the rugby commentators/TMOs have been side-tracked by paying too much attention to rugby league commentating.

The Wrap: It’s all about the rugby FFS

by plenty ffs, perhaps

The Wrap: It’s all about the rugby FFS

I suspect that ABs fans would also accord the WBs the same respect given it’s the WBs (as did the French) that has gotten in their way twice notwithstanding the drastic drop in their ranking last year.

I should say that I certainly don’t subscribe to a view of “blatant home town refereeing in” SA in super rugby at least. And, yes, such perceptions can be used as a ‘perfect’ excuse to explain an unsuccessful tour in SA ofc.

Oh dear, away Lions draw the penalty count and lose the match

Not just Rico as you allude to, Danny, and it’s one of my pet hates too

Oh dear, away Lions draw the penalty count and lose the match

Ben makes a valid point in quoting thus (even if it was so long ago),

“Always remember Billy Bush accosting him after the final test and Gert saying, according to Bush, “its alright for you. You fly out tomorrow. I have to live here”.

Oh dear, away Lions draw the penalty count and lose the match

Found one slight fault when Spiro says, “if we can’t have neutral referees, Sanzaar should try to balance out the home-ground advantage by appointing referees from the same country as the visiting team”.
In such a situation, anecdotal evidence might suggest that some Kiwi refs tend to favour the Saders in 50/50 calls to the detriment of any other Kiwi side. For me to fully appreciate a NZ derby game involving the Saders, I’d prefer to watch it being ref’d and TMO’d by an Australian or Safa team.

Indeed and thanks, Will.

Looks like it’s going to be a tough one but the forwards should hold their own. If they do, they’ll stay at the top for another week.

Foreign form has Brumbies rolling on to Super Rugby finals

Weren’t the 90s considered the shamamateur years when Campo and others were being paid to play rugby in Italy, for example?

It seems however, which is a good thing, that you still can’t take rugby out of the system yet, Insider.

League and union cannot afford an all-out Pacific code war

Great idea, Will, but not sure whether it’ll give ROG enough time to make an influence before RWC kick-off. This might be a reason no one with the appropriate credentials has volunteered their wishes to Cheika thus far.
Gibson, on the other hand, knows Cheika ball very well and the players and, most importantly, can and has worked successfully with Cheika. They after-all did take the Tahs to their only super rugby championship in 2014.

ROG and roll: Why the Wallabies need O’Gara

“but then again – last time they drew a match the next team got hammered ,, so ….”

Obviously, “Lightening will not strike twice”, CUW, with the Blues a sure thing then.

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

There is something ‘off’ about the Saders this week after the alleged ‘incidents’ in Harry Jonestown. The collective minds might still be stranded in HJstown, RT

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

“Crusaders – coz last time they drew , the next team got hammered.”

Might have to agree with Mike Fraser in charge in a local derby. Why wasn’t the Gardner or the Peyper appointed instead?

Go da Blues…

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

Indeed. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s a gem or two amongst the replacements.

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

Sure thing; Canes by plenty

After a week of upsets, it should be back to normalcy this weekend:
Chiefs,
Brumbies by plenty,
Rebels,
Blues for another upset;
Jaguares by a whisker,
Stormers for sure, and,
Team Marx by plenty

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

Did he not tip against his own team last week, Muzzo? If he did, he still hasn’t recovered I guess

Super Rugby Round 15: Time for some cream

Thanks AJ – a lot of unfamiliar names in that list. What’s happening up north?

On 2nd thoughts, these rugby players should be banned from praying on the field after a game. They could do so in their change rooms before, during or after drowning themselves on water, fizzy or alcoholic drinks. Even better for them and the family if they had no alcohol and instead attended their respective churches, shrines, temples or mosques after their games and pray properly.

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

‘Islanders’ are not all religious fanatics, Tooly

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

I might have been happy with a massive fine plus undertakings, etc, Rakavi Fan. But Israel has somehow refused to take down his post. I wonder if this is a very personal decision that he made for himself or some other faceless human person is holding his hand in this instance.

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

Well, NFJ is obviously living up to his nickname of ‘Kick Too Farr-Jones’ even in his retirement years ????

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

While you did ask a question but your description appeared to me at least to be more about an explanation of a feeling you had about the person in particular, hence, my post.
