Totally agree ! Honestly, how many AFL games are decided by 1 contentious score ? Yes, yes I know this game was a draw but an AFL game is far more likely to end in a boring and tedious blowout than this sort of thing. The AFL would be well served in trying to curb this than worrying about one scoring attempt.

It's a draw! Season restart ends in low-scoring stalemate

Mate, I love Aussie rules and have for over 50 years. What I want is for it remain an attractive and popular option for generations to come. It’s amazing just how the tastes of younger people are changing – and fair play to that ! e.g my 35 year old son and ALL of his circle of friends care NOTHING about cricket and barely anything about Bradman. Most of them are physically fit, some fitness junkies but their interest in professional sports seems to start and end with the NBA !

The game is too long. Shorter quarters are here to stay

One option that I’ve been putting here over the years is. . . give the ball to the opposition after a goal has been scored via a kick in from the 50 meter circle. This could bring back into the game fullbacks with a booming kick and high marking straight kicking full forwards… To handle the situation where a team feels it is on a comeback roll, have a captains call where he can nominate that the game be restarted with the usual center bounce – 5 times a game ? 2 times a quarter? The point of all this is to counter the common problem in Aussie rules where a side can just drop their head for a few minutes. . . and the games is ALL OVER for everyone – BORING! This is especially a problem in lower comps.where the game is well and truly over by quarter time with 40 goals to 3 results…

ANYTHING that reduces the number of BLOWOUTS I’m all for ! They are the biggest threat to and stain on the game ! Honestly how many ‘great’ i.e. close GFs do we get ?

Wellcome back Redb

Are Essendon actually in a funk, or did we all just fall for the hype?

What about that . . . baseball thingy?

Why a reserves league would be a disaster for the A-League

Long Bay

A European Super League would destroy football as we know it

The AFL’s administration has failed and it must be changed

“…we need to change the culture, and fast…”

– Maybe Cultural Re education camps could be the go – you know, like the Chinese are currently trialing with their stubborn Uigur population.

Addressing football's Australian cultural problem

I read somewhere that City rather than United were traditionally the most popular club in Manchester.

It's time Melbourne City put their money where their mouth is

Riewoldt since retirement has had interests in a couple of pubs.

Drugs in football: Why am I supposed to care?

the mighty flat white being a standout here…

Gaelic football vs Aussie Rules: Is there a connection?

But who produces the watchable footage – and how will they collect worthwhile revenue for their efforts – from product that is consumed via . . . non-traditional broadcasting services?

Have the A-League's ratings tanked because people no longer watch TV?

What you say is all so true for most Australian men’s sport – women’s sport on the other hand…

However it is particularly so for RL and a huge amount of it is the sort of guys who play the game…
Not that much you can do about that, but it has always been the case – and the game just keeps on keeping on !

A Valentine’s Day ode to Rugby League: I love you but you are a dumb ----

Oh ! righto, so now you’re telling me what I can and can’t do ?

fyi, I have an interest in EVERYTHING

The A-League has six months to save itself from oblivion

Your constant toadying to Fuss is impacting your control of the English language.

The A-League has six months to save itself from oblivion

. . . apart from all this “business ” fluff you keep reverting to, ratings would still have to be an important popularity metric surely …

Australia's Asian Cup defence comes to a bitter end

Sure Fuss can be (usually is?) obnoxious but I honestly feel that he does add to the conversation(his sparing with Mr Football is right up there with some of the debates on YouTube…).

I find him an absolute hoot ! – assuming of course that he is not ill…

Whatever happened to supporting your team no matter what?

What’s so special about Kazan ?? You are correct though in that there is nothing close to Kazan !!!

The greatest Australian sporting moments of 2018

Are you meaning “…should have written that…” ?
or is your humour one step ahead of me.

2019 is a big year for Australian football

The one short coming in “women’s sports” is their clear failure to engage in forums such as this one.

The best women's sports moments of 2018

Totally disagree with your last sentence.

Us fans are increasingly being given options of other things to do than watch professional sport and ratings and attendance across the (advanced) world are reflecting this.

The Whole of Football Plan: the 20-year prophecy that took three years to come true

“…Christmas circus.”

– well at least the show’s in town !

All I want for Christmas is a fully-functioning A-League

Santa loves footy . . . fact!

All I want for Christmas is a fully-functioning A-League

Exactly – his sad but cringe worthy tearful media appearance and now this ad. shows he lacks judgement and grace under pressure…

Definately not captain material . . . but stick him in the side to get plenty of runs.
