lol !

More than happy to wear the name ‘blah blah Al’ if the Eagles do the game proud !!!

Melbourne will beat West Coast, and this is why

If I were you Tim, I would try to turn the conversation away from attendances and towards the closeness of the respective contests, which you do mention briefly at the top of your piece !
I’m an Aussie rules diehard, and I have been banging away on this forum forever about BLOWOUTS being the problem elephant in the room for the AFL…

The smaller NRL crowds confirm the AFL is the superior code? Rubbish!

Honestly, how good would a Melbourne v Collingwood Grand Final be !!!

It raises the hair on the back of my neck thinking of how a whole host of football legends would stir in their grave at the thought of this event !!

Back to the real world though and I’m fully expecting it to be Richmond v West Coast – and dreading the thought of the Eagles being BLOWN AWAY…

KB used to be on the AFL Rules committee – maybe still is…

AFL rule changes are coming: The good, the bad, the indifferent

More power to those that can hoof it past the centre !

I’m all for giving the ball to the opposition after a score to enable the game to remain a contest rather than a boring BLOWOUT !!

As I’ve stated here many times, after a goal has been scored, I would have the ball given to the opposition to kick back in from the 50 metre mark, for the same reason I mention above.
Can’t see any value in that 666 business ?

So true Cam – ‘forward pressure’ leads to congestion, bur more importantly it can be a contest killer ! Christo suggests that we should be rewarding the team that is able to build the forward pressure? – yeah sure, but that suggests a flaw in the rules where a game can be ‘all over’ due to one short sharp period of ‘forward pressure’ – a la Melbourne v Geelong last week.
For similar reasons other games intoduced the off side rule ! And , before all those flinty warriors start howling about offside, I’m not suggesting this for our game…

Also, keep the number of those people in flouro shirts running around the oval to an absolute minimum

Not a bad effort by the pies – you’d have to think they could have won if it was at the G.

Five talking points from West Coast vs Collingwood

lol !! The ROAR won’t be doing any coding – I’d say they bought a package.

Looks similar to comments section for The Age…

Five talking points from West Coast vs Collingwood

This game was over at quarter time, because of a short fierce (early) surge which is able to happen in our game and often leads to BLOWOUTS !
Sure this game wasn’t a ‘blowout’ and sure sides have come back from being 5 goals down at quarter time – but it’s very very rare !!!

Give the ball to the opposition after a goal is scored ( a kickout from the 50m arc ?) to put a brake on these surges which are contest killers and BLOWOUT producers….
