Campo, undisputed the best Wallabies winger ever and one the the world’s best players. Talent, flair, passion and unpredictability made his an exciting player to watch. Campo and that 1991 team is legendary, is the reason I fell in love with rugby.

…and JWH has the gall to fight his charge for whacking Api. It would be crazy if the MRC decided to overturn his suspension and only fine him.

Round 26 Talking Points: JWH, Ricky and a few others a bit 'tired and emotional' as pressure of finals race hits boiling point

😱

Round 27 Team Lists Late Mail: Manu hamstrung, long list of stars resting, Papa's year over, Ponga races clock for finals

Not sure how JWH didn’t get a straight send off for that, very deliberate, very late, forceful and dangerous to the opposition key playmaker. There was obvious intent to knock him out. Then followed up with a headbutt for good measure during the scuffle.

Carnage! Roosters set up Souths showdown but lose Manu and likely Jared after another brain explosion

My upset of the round: Tigers to back Benji and put up a fight against the Chooks.

Thank You TB!

Latrell's career may have already peaked unless he can eradicate momentary lapses of discipline

Well said TB. Latrell’s stats on the back of arguably the worst performance of his career, over 200 metres, 12 tackle breaks…is not that bad even when when he is bad.

Eddie Jones masterstroke, bring in Hansen. I like it.

'Cancel his citizenship!' PM weighs in, ABs 'gobsmacked', as Hansen explains why he's helping Wallabies

Gustav could’ve had all the excuses in the world with Sam Kerr injured, and if the Matilda’s didn’t qualify after the the stage games he would have been justified, but he delivered tactically. No arguments, got the team to the Semi Finals. That is by no means mediocre.

The jury is still out on Tony G despite Matildas' thrilling run - will he be remembered as fondly as Aussie Guus?

Gustavsson for mine, so much better than anything Australia has ever seen or achieved on the global stage, the way the Matildas have played has inspired a nation, they played as a team (mostly without their number 1 star) and achieved the results.

I watched Suli regularly when he was playing League for the Storm, and he was without doubt one of the best and most powerful wingers in the game. One cannot help but make the connection that he similar skills (potential) to several other his Fijian contemporaries like Marika Koroisbete, Semi Radradra or Lote Tuquiri. I wish Suli well, he has the skills and talent, he deserves a great RWC.

Doubts of a Wallaby: The maligned cross-code star who fought through tears to make Eddie's RWC campaign

Well done Tigers, good to see the players turned up despite all the off field malarkey. Let’s hope they can turn it up against the chooks next week.

'It's not about me': Benji deflects praise as Api breaks Tigers' 10-game drought with help from the crossbar to sink Dolphins

At this rate, Tedesco won’t even remember what “went” on in Vegas. Seriously, he should take the rest of the season off, it would be silly of the club to let him play again this year.

'Is it enough to play next week? I wouldn’t think so': Tedesco scratched from crucial Roosters clash after NINTH career concussion

Very Sad. Kyle was unassuming, but a fan favourite. Apart from being part of the Souths premiership winning side in 2014, I remember being in Mudgee for the pre-season Charity Shield game (2019). I happened to be sitting next to Kyle’s partner and his little infant son on the grassy hill. After the game, Kyle jumped the fence and hugged his little champion, it was a precious moment. Vale champion, Vale amazing human being.

How about to lead Australia? His country! His passion.

RWC News: Eddie's surprise new Wallabies coach revealed, fresh scare for ABs, Richie fumes at 'slap in the face'

Bula for Rookie of the Year.

Honourable mention, South Sydney’s Tyrone Munro although he only played 2 games, scoring against the Warriors on his debut, Munro went from Under-19 SG Ball side to the Jersey Flegg competition, NSW Cup competition and NRL in just over 12 months. Speed to burn, he would be close to one of the fastest players in the NRL.

NRL Rookie of the Year: The Brick, the flying mullet and Tigers' only bright spot

Jones coached Australia between 2001 and 2005, taking the team to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final. He was an advisor with South Africa when the Springboks won the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and from 2012 to 2015 he coached Japan, leading them in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and an upset win over South Africa. In 2015, Jones was appointed head coach of England and led them to win the 2016 and 2017 Six Nations Championships, becoming only the second national team to be unbeaten in a calendar year. He led England to the 2019 Rugby World Cup final where they were beaten by South Africa.

Not bad eh?

RWC News: Eddie's surprise new Wallabies coach revealed, fresh scare for ABs, Richie fumes at 'slap in the face'

Agree, and good positive article Christy. EJ is one of the best and most accomplished rugby coaches in the world. He inherited a train wreck and is now trying to stop its momentum, and turn it around. Not easy, but I have faith that if anyone can do it it is Eddie Jones.

Eddie was right about one thing in epic spray - the Wallabies must stop being reactive and accepting of mediocrity

Ryles is an upgrade from Brad Davis, no doubt. For Ryles to be considered as a successor to Craig Bellamy, who in my view has been the best Rugby League coach globally in the last 10 -15 years, and the Melbourne Storm, who are probably one of the most highly successful, best run and professional sports franchises in Australia. Plus Ryles has had recent experience in Rugby for England under EJ. An Eddie masterstroke.

Haven’t made finals footy since 2011, two wooden spoons, one second last (2015), and a whole lot of 12-15th dismal finishes.

Tigers constantly chasing own tail - Fast-tracking Benji era makes sense but chaotic club still needs to get house in order

Congratulations to both The Lionesses and the Matildas for an entertaining and hard fought semi final. The Matildas have captured the hearts and attention of a nation, nothing but admiration and applause for them. Kerr’s goal was a cracker and Fowler is such a special talent at 20 years old. They were unfortunate tonight, maybe a little flat from their 2.5 hour marathon 3 days ago against Denmark. England tonight were far more composed and controlled the game better, it was expected they would rise to the occasion being reigning Euro Champs and won something like 36 out of 37 games.

Sam missile strikes with World Cup worldie but Matildas bow out as Lionesses roar into Final

Caracratcus, I agree 1 win + bye should just get the Bunnies in the 8. I suspect they will lose on Sunday against an in-form Knights team in front of a full capacity stadium with partisan novocastrations. Souths will then have the bye to regroup and get ready for a finals-like, do-or-die battle against the Chooks. This will be their first game at home in months and with backs against the wall, they’ll be up for it! It will (IMO) be the catalyst they need, Souths will beat the Chooks and this will lift them and give them impetus into the finals. It will be this last game of the season that gets them hardened for finals footy. Should they find their fire and form, they will then go deep into the finals.

NRL Run Home: Raiders, Rabbitohs looking shaky with three rounds left as 11 teams scramble for finals equation

I’ve said this in an earlier post, the Tigers had showed some glimpses of good footy at times this year and one felt they were slowly getting into a good rhythm, the injuries to Brooks and Api no doubted dented some of that potential flair. However I put the blame solely on the Tigers board, namely Chairman Pangelitis and CEO Pascoe, they openly declared a massive clean out of the roster and going on a spending spree! This would certainly not instil any confidence in the existing crop of players. Furthermore those clowns went off and hired a Manly guy, Fulton as their recruitment manager, and wait for it, did it without Tim Sheens or Benji Marshall’s knowledge. Incompetence and divisive at best. Especially since some believe Fulton (and his sister) were at Manly (because of their father, Manly royalty), stinks of nepotism and appears wasn’t liked too much at the Club, so once the late great Bobby passed, it was time for the club to clean out, and both offspring of the Great Late Bobby were pushed.

Now the incompetent board use Sheens and soon to be, Marshall as scapegoats. The problem is the board, not the coaches or players.

2023 Great Mysteries of the NRL

1) How Freddy (and sidekick Brandy) remain as Blues coach;
2 How Tigers Chairman Lee Hag and CEO Pascoe remain at the Tigers,

Until these two mysteries are solved, the Blues and the Tigers will continue losing.
