Rusted on Reds supporter living on the Gold Coast. Picture of my reaction to reds snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in recent years. Nooooo!

Haha! I remember one test in France where he passed it and we put 50 on them. You would think that would have changed something for him, but nup 😂

'Baryshnikov with a Kalashnikov': Perfect blend of poise and firepower that makes Wallaby one of the world's best 13s

I was admonished by John Hipwell for my dive pass as a young halfback. He said it took me out of the game and to stay on my feet. I guess he wasn’t a fan of Catchpole’s approach 😂

Was Joost van der Westhuizen rugby's greatest ever halfback?

No way Kellaway has a higher error rate than Wright. That is completely made up.
The simple truth is we cannot keep test players who cannot catch. Let alone a back. If you cannot maintain attention for the full game then you are not test standard.

WALLABIES TEAM: Rennie makes ten changes, including a surprise at 15, leaves kryptonite on the bench

Rennie’s rambling is increasingly incoherent.

WALLABIES TEAM: Rennie makes ten changes, including a surprise at 15, leaves kryptonite on the bench

My gut says the play is so structured that it actually is a surprise when there is a break. The players have to snap out of running to their next “position” and react to the break. That second is probably the difference.

REACTION: 'Let's not celebrate getting close'- Wallabies blow it at death as Rennie slated for 'poor decision'

I used to practice my dive passes too (especially off my weak side) until John Hipwell told me that when I’m on the ground I’m out of the game.
But what would he know… 😂 😂

Crystal ball gaze at a Wallabies-ABs ANZAC XV that could seriously stretch the Lions in 2025

Great thought provoking article. About to read part 2.

Rugby union transfer fees: How to make them happen (part one)

A lawyer’s take huh? That’ll clear it up…
The final analysis? Australia deserved this bizarre decision because unpredictable frenchman are part of the game.
And because ABs scored easily against the discombobulated Wallabies reeling from the decision it shows they would of lost anyway.
By the way there is a significant difference between the opportunity to win your own lineout ball (and the game) and having to defend a 5m centrefield scrum. It was indeed an unprecedented game changing decision.
Many of us will agree that Foley should not have been taking line kicks in the first place but that is neither here not there to the decision which sits outside the normal momentum swings of refereeing decisions in games.

Case for the prosecution: Why Wallabies' ref lament is wrong and just a smokescreen for bigger issues

Watching rugby is now a bewildering experience and it is driving people away from the game.
Clearly the most important person on the field nowadays is the referee. Many years ago the hallmark of a top referee was to let the game flow and have the minimal possible influence. Now they inject themselves into the game as often as they possibly can. Consequently there is no flow in the game. Every passage of play feels like it ends with a penalty. Often for something quite innocuous and it leaves lifelong fans bewildered. What hope is there for new fans to enjoy watching rugby?

'Clear cut call', 'They've got to be better': Ruthless All Blacks back ref as Foley felt he 'let team down'

Yes the last minute of a very close Bledisloe cup is totally the time and place to set a precedent…
What a brilliant strategy for getting compliance. Just randomly throw out a decision with no prior guidance that no one has ever seen before. Some top class thinking there.

'Clear cut call', 'They've got to be better': Ruthless All Blacks back ref as Foley felt he 'let team down'

The title gets a lot of heads nodding but anyone who thinks Kurtley Beale is the answer has lost the plot.
It is these random selections from the past that are the problem. Cooper is the exception (with a world class Kerevi beside him). Rennie seems to have taken Cooper’s success as a green light to all sorts of random selections. Bizarre.

Can someone, anyone, explain Dave Rennie's selections?

That’s exactly how I feel too!

Wallabies CONFIRMED: Foley returns at No.10 as Rennie makes EIGHT starting XV changes for Bledisloe opener

These are rugby schools. We all know they are rugby schools.
That being said the emphasis on schoolboy rugby as opposed to junior club rugby is a problem that reinforces the perception of rugby as an elitist sport.
Scholarships are by nature discriminatory. They are awarded on specific abilities or skills that most do not possess.
Scholarships are much more valuable to the individual and to society on academic grounds in my opinion.

'Damn good footballers': Why Wallabies coach is cool on Suaalii seduction as McLennan fires back at V'landys

These students are given scholarships purely because of their rugby league prowess in an effort for the school to brag about the 1st XV.
I agree that it is a misallocation of development effort and funds to train kids who are never going to play union ongoing, purely for the ego of the headmaster/board.

'Damn good footballers': Why Wallabies coach is cool on Suaalii seduction as McLennan fires back at V'landys

Except when he has a simple catch and pass to an unmarked player and decides to go himself…

ANALYSIS: 'Gone past Lote', 'superior to Israel Folau' - where Magic Marika ranks in the Wallaby wingers all-time list

Yeah well he’s young and can be forgiven for a little hypocrisy. ????
I actually went to Churchie myself but before we joined the import/scholarship game. We’re all happy for the short term gain. The sugar hit of a premiership. Yet we both agree it’s doing very little for the growth of rugby in Australia.

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

Both Cheika and Thorn appear to be incredibly dogmatic individuals who had a my way or the highway approach. Structure is great but it needs flexibility and adaptability built in it. Rigid structures create consistently mediocre performance until they break under pressure.

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

True but it won’t happen because short term thinking dominates the agenda. “Yes that’s all well and good but we need results now…”

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

Not the same people Don.
It’s not a matter of hypocrisy. It is short term thinking that makes many shake their heads.

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

I believe it is both open to all kids in the local area and selective for academic and sports.

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

Well even more concerning is that many of these young players brought in to try and win a gps premiership are actually rugby league players. So we’re pumping development into players who have no intention of playing union to accommodate the vanity of schools.
I was at a TSS rugby lunch recently where they proudly announced that their captain has signed with South Sydney Rabbitohs for next year… this is not a good thing for rugby.

Where have all our flyhalves gone? The lost generation and why Bernard Foley can successfully fill the void

A bit like selecting Hodge and then not using his clearing kicks…

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

Yes thanks oz.

Sorry typo WITHOUT 😂

I think we’ll get steamrolled with Cooper and Kerevi providing go forward.
