Brutal and clinical from Australia….wow, took a short nap and thought I would catch the last couple of hours. All done by then!!. Another obvious conundrum awaits the selectors for the 3rd game….keep MM at opener with Travis or bring in crocked Warner, tinker with the order and potentially mess everything up?

Two Mitches are better than one: Sensational Starc, mighty Marsh lead the way as Aussies steamroll India

Thanks Dan, really enjoyed this read . Happily give you a grade A on this article.

The Liebke Report Card: 'All Test cricket to take place in New Zealand from now on'

Exactly Mike….Warner can dish it out and then complains he is the victim when there is retaliation. Give me a friggin break, Quinton is one of the most level headed individuals out there and since the “kneeling episode”, have even greater respect for someone who was lambasted by the media….taken completely out of context, because he believes many do things and never fully embrace the reality or meaning of it all. For me, integrity and Warner will never exist in the same sentence…he has proved this and would back Bancroft any day of the week.

Third time lucky for opener emerging from crowded pack to replace struggling Warner for Ashes

One irritating thing, although it is within the current rules….Carey constantly whippings off the bails everytime the ball beats the bat, knowing very well the foot was grounded behind the line….then claiming a stumping. Then we painfully go through the entire snicko process and the side-on angle. Sneaky indeed to avoid using reviews….but am sure that rule needs to be changed before it gets hopelessly out of hand.

GOAT by name, GOAT by nature: Lyon's elite eight leaves Aussies 76 runs away from stunning win

Yeah, I watched most of the game, and the pitch became very unpredictable early on the 2nd day with low stuff happening in particular. Centurion usually produces good fair lively wickets fit for the real quicks, but never seen it that inconsistent in bounce before. Good to see Markram getting runs again after been dropped because of poor form. Anyway, looking forward to the Aussies putting the 76 runs on the board…talk about pitch prep and backfiring on the hosts…some justice in all that I would suggest.

GOAT by name, GOAT by nature: Lyon's elite eight leaves Aussies 76 runs away from stunning win

So we have another 3 day test…and think they should be able to pull off 76 runs, albeit not without a few cardiac arrests. Such a pity though we couldn’t have had a longer contest. Sad that the pitch never allowed the batters to get into the game. Anyway, it is not only dust bowls that produce contracted matches, SA beat WI inside 3 days on a very lively “up & down” type wicket with Rabada getting 6. Maybe Haydo was right….let’s simply prep wickets for 3 day tests and be done with it…

GOAT by name, GOAT by nature: Lyon's elite eight leaves Aussies 76 runs away from stunning win

Well all my early pre-match plea’s went unanswered….just as well , based on what I saw. Kuhnemann was a better pick in the end for another quick. My other plea was to get cricket going into Saturday….a very unlikely scenario with this goat track. Ridiculous what they have dished up here in disguise of a test wicket….surely the ICC needs to step in at some point. Robbing every cricket test purist from having 4 or 5 days of enjoyment.

Kuhn's the Man: Spinner sparks Indian collapse with maiden five-for before Khawaja steers Australia to lead

Exactly, perfect time to give the speedster a go…unfair to throw a newbie into a pressure cooker decider…so, yes, Australia want to save face by squaring the series, but the trophy is already spoken for. This is not about being brave, it is about developing your players….time and place is now!!

FLEM'S VERDICT: The key change needed to help Aussies overcome odds in India

Not replacing Starc….keep him and hope he can get the reverse swing going. Morris is simply something different and doubt any of the Indians have seen much of him….mix it up a bit and let Morris loose. Big fan of Neser, but that option doesn’t even feature now with him not in the current squad.

FLEM'S VERDICT: The key change needed to help Aussies overcome odds in India

Still curious on final team selection come 2pm…surely it is Morris over Kuhnemann. Wow, after that incredible NZL victory yesterday….really hope this test can bring some riveting moments to the fore and go through until Saturday at least.

FLEM'S VERDICT: The key change needed to help Aussies overcome odds in India

Rowdy, I prefer Starc over Boland, with finger still intact obviously!. Thinking is, Starc we know can get reverse swing going better than the quicks and this weapon should be used. Still fondly remember how Dale Steyn cleaned up India in Nagpur 2010 for 7/51….they were actually reasonably well set at around 4 for 220, then he picks up the last 5 wickets for 13 runs….devastating quick bowling coupled with reverse swing did the damage. This is what Starc could bring to the party…

Pitch craft: India’s late switch set to pay dividends with Aussies facing another raging turner

Here we go again….the expected “raging turner” has already planted seeds of doubt in the Australian batters. Why the hell do you play Kuhnemann?….you cannot beat them at their own game…their spinners operate at a different level and their batters are masters of spin bowling. Play Morris please!, and give them something different to think about…and give him licence to go all out pace.

Pitch craft: India’s late switch set to pay dividends with Aussies facing another raging turner

Yeah JN, agree, “structures” probably not the right term….what I was referring to is the pipeline for talent getting to the top tier is broken in number of places and means that players, often with great potential leak out along the way. Well done to Sune and the team, you gave a good account of yourselves, but the huge gulf in professionalism was clear for everyone to see.

South Africa ready to topple Aussies after reaching WT20 final with history making win

Okay…I for one am so done with Warner now. Is there any chance we can move on and just let him impale himself as we look forward to the next team surprise for test #3.

‘I’m not in a rut … If selectors feel I’m not worthy, so be it’: Warner’s refusal to retire puts ball in Bailey's court

Hey Short Arm…thanks and yeah, gonna stay up and watch the game and suffer tomorrow, but suspect it will be a bridge too far for the Saffas, but nonetheless, hoping they compete and give the Aussies a good game. Agree, the keeper is not great….and quotas are still there in all team sports… unfortunately. Enjoy mate…may the best team win!

South Africa ready to topple Aussies after reaching WT20 final with history making win

A fantastic achievement!. Superb effort and immensely proud of how the girls handled themselves. What an incredible comeback from England 53 without loss or so after 5 overs. What makes the victory even more special….South Africa no longer (sad, but true…those days are gone) have the high performance centres, resources, funding or structured cricket development systems to compare with countries like Australia & England.
Ultimately, reality is sporting success in SA is now more reliant on pure individual talent and a lot of guts. The final against the powerhouse Australian girls will be another huge test of character, and even if they lose….they have done SA proud and lifted spirits in a country that dearly needs it. Go Sune & the girls!!

At least we have one piece of the puzzle sorted with Davey saying he is here to stay….can’t fault his commitment to the team and being the pressure shield for his mates. Remarkable sacrifice in itself. Suspense is killing me…..how is this going to end?

‘I’m not in a rut … If selectors feel I’m not worthy, so be it’: Warner’s refusal to retire puts ball in Bailey's court

We all know he missed his window at the end of 2022 to leave with grace and some respect. He blew that golden opportunity ..as everyone on the Roar keeps on telling him and the gutless selectors. S. As you mentioned Paul…let’s see what the selectors do…all eyes on them now.

‘I’m not in a rut … If selectors feel I’m not worthy, so be it’: Warner’s refusal to retire puts ball in Bailey's court

The dreaded “book of David” is keeping him in the mix…CA are petrified and there will be no coronation without him.

Warner may have played last Test with veteran opener heading home from India tour

Yeah….wouldn’t that be wheel of justice for Bancroft after what Warner did to him. Just read somewhere he is headed to the airport to cover for the depleted batting stocks.

Warner may have played last Test with veteran opener heading home from India tour

At the rate the team are losing players now, problem is who is left to save the Aussies?. May need to bring in Hussey, Haydo and Waugh….they have all the answers, so possibly not a bad thing.

Is it better to have loved sport and lost than to never love sport at all? It's made me a terrible person

Blessing in disguise for sure….and also part of me thinks he doesn’t want to punish himself anymore in India. Even hard nosed, once tough Warner has finally seen the writing on the wall….

Warner may have played last Test with veteran opener heading home from India tour

Thanks for sharing Ben!…wonder if there is a support group for “sport nuts”. I would have signed up for it and made good use of it. Your post makes me feel a whole heap better though…you are not alone in this. I left my South African shores 16 years ago, and am still an avid Bok and Protea supporter. Spent 14 years in Canada streaming these sports on dodgy websites because you simply couldn’t get it on cable or satellite. At least the Baggy greens have tasted world cup success a number of times. I still recall vividly the 1999 WC semi…that is excruciating pain when you draw and still lose!

Is it better to have loved sport and lost than to never love sport at all? It's made me a terrible person

Point taken Rowdy, but I am simply going for immediate damage control and think Ussie has the right calm demeanour to handle the rest of the Indian tour. Cummins is frazzled imo and unable to lead effectively as a result….although, also do realise the odds of him being demoted are very remote. Head for sure, down the road captaincy…for now, Aus needs his batting and nothing else.

FLEM’S VERDICT: Shellshocked … panicked - Aussie collapse like watching a car crash in slow motion

Yeah DTM….nothing makes sense anymore. Only thing that Aus need to worry about is how to get more runs on the board….may as well pick 4 spinners then and let Green do the medium fast stuff…drop Warner, Renshaw and Cummins. Promote Travis to opener and make Ussie captain. Cannot get any worse now….
