I'm going to cop a lot of flack, but I can say I am a Robbie Deans fan, loud and proud. Dingo or Aussie…
With the Lions tour fast approaching, certain players of Wallaby-calibre are getting no spotlight. This may be due to featuring in a less prominent…
‘Running rugby' – it's Australia's new brand on the game. The public has spoken; we want our entire backline to have Carlos Spencer-esque attacking…
Yes it may bleed money. In the long term it creates depth.
The likes of Timani, Stirzaker (however you spell his name), McMahon, Inman, English, etc would still be warming benches. It is a long term goal to create depth in Australian rugby and eventually the Mexicans from the South might watch the odd SR or Test match.
Rebels on the rise: McGahan
Couldn’t happen to a better bloke or player.
Would be interesting to see how the Wallabies combat the selection of a 13 if Kuridrani and AAC were ruled out.
Who are our other #13 options:
– Kurevi
– Folau
– Horne
– Godwin – who IMO is a better 12 that 13.
– Chris F-Sautia
Quite a tough one.
Speedy recovery to both players.
Ashley-Cooper delays comeback
Good breakdown Harry.
It really shows the Bulls could ‘fire’.
A different look at Super Rugby stats
On paper, the teams looks very impressive. There wouldn’t be too many teams who have a bench featuring the likes of Kotze, Benny Taps and Feauai-Saitia; whilst also keeping in mind the return of Hunt.
I have little faith in Richard Graham as a coach. He has great experience in the 7’s rugby, yet we are waiting to see this attacking formula transfer to the 15 aside game.
In fairness to some great players under his reign, I would hate for his poor coaching to have a negative impact on the great players under his reign whilst they fight for a RWC spot.
Quade Cooper, O'Connor and Turner all return for Reds
I think you are correct in naming Toomua as a 10.
Cheika will most likely use him as a 10 but preferring Foley who plays extremely flat.
We all know Cheikas game plan is attack attack attack. I could see QC playing at 12 if he returns fit. Provided the same Waratahs defensive pattern, of KB returning to the wing and Horne defending at 12.
Folau will play at 15 this year which Cheika stated.
I think the media and ARU are giving Folau a lot of bait to sign the dotted line and offer him a centre position for 2016 and on.
Matt Toomua is a flyhalf, not an inside centre
I doubted Cheiks decision to start Naiyaravoro over Peter Betham who played a cracker the previous week. Great to see the decision was justified with some great runs that exposed some weak defence by Brumbies players.
Foley had a fantastic game playing extremely flat.
The Brumbies really did struggle to get into the game. IMO, Kuridrani is one of the worlds greatest 13’s, he rarely touched the ball and the Tahs were exceptional at shutting the 10 through to 13 down early.
Great win Tahs!
SPIRO: The Waratahs are back, big time
The Brumbies simply didn’t turn up.
The Brumbies have played some fantastic rugby in the early rounds but the Waratahs are starting to peak at the right time of the season.
SPIRO: The Waratahs are back, big time
Why not Brisbane?
The Reds have such a large SR fan base. The GC hosts the worlds largest school rugby union competition, so I’m sure they can attract a large membership base and push them north.
Sydney takes over from Gold Coast as Sevens host
Even though Potgieter had a shocker I would have given him a 5.5.
He was ferocious in defence and made a fantastic try saving tackle which turned into a pilfer too. So he did redeem himself for his shocking soap hands.

Robb gave his strongest performance of the year. I agree with Peter, but have no idea what game you watched Jay!
Super Rugby player ratings Round 4
Funny how the men from South Africa and NZ praise the man, yet the minority of Wallaby fans gave him credit.
What he brought to Australian Rugby was fantastic, yet he received nil credit as he was a Kiwi.
You’ll be missed Dingo Deans.
Robbie Deans: Why a book, and why now?
Samoa – what coach would risk fielding their best squad 2 weeks prior to the RWC kick off? Did you learn the injury exodus with Pocock missing?
Scotland – the worst rugby conditions EVER when played in Newcastle. When played in Scotland, shouldn’t the players cop a little flack.
Robbie took us from 5th to 2nd in World Cup rankings. Won our first Tri Nations in over a decade, yet because he was a kiwi, received nil credit.
Its all doomed under ‘Australian Rugby Saviour’ Mckenzie.
Robbie Deans: Why a book, and why now?
Without a doubt.
Deans at least uses tactics and has a game plan.
Links team seems very static, passes the ball from left to right and goes no where.
The team has no passion.
Robbie Deans: Why a book, and why now?
And also that Chambers saved a goal in the closing stages when it was Gibbs.

Kuridrani at inside?
Surely stick with the proven combinations
Phipps
Foley
Beale
The Tahs had a great year.
McKenzie selections shades of Deans?
Deans copped it for lack of tactics and no “plan B”.
Where was Links “plan B”?
Yes, the ABs defence was amazing and the weather played apart in the expansive game Link likes to play. But we looked rattled, White kept producing some shocking box kicks (and stayed on the paddock for far too long) and we failed to score a try, lack of points and gain territory when the ABs played for 20mins with one man down.
All we hear is that Hooper should have taken more points, etc. ( Personally, I was glad to see Cheikas tactics embedded in Hoopers guidance. Feeling momentum)
IMO the blame falls on Link. Link needs more direction and tactics as the ABs are going to go up another 3 gears back at Eden Park.
Ewen McKenzie is his own man
Does anyone know who the referee is? I’m just hoping Peyper isn’t anywhere near ANZ stadium.
Waratahs name unchanged team for Super Rugby final
The big Doug should have been a Wallaby this year, but I support Links selections. We need to bleed a few of the young and upcoming talent. We have plenty of depth and experience in numerous positions but the second row. Will be our weakness come Rugby Championship and RWC.
Douglas deserved Wallabies callup: Cheika
Being a member of the Waratahs for numerous yrs, I have definitely seen the transformation of the team, the culture and environment.
Even though the crowd attendance is still low, Cheika was employed to restore the culture within the NSW ranks. He has done an amazing job at rectifying a dying team and environment. I have not witnessed a team play with so much passion, compassion and dedication (and aggression as Cheiks would put it) to win back the crowds hearts. The rugby is entertaining and the fire has been rekindled.
Well done Michael Cheika.
Waratahs eye record Super run
I’m lost as to why Link ‘played chicken’.
1. This is a series against the French. It should be experimental, blooding youth as the rugby championship is around the corner. Try some driving mauls, the odd chip kick behind the defensive line.
2. Why did EM hesitate with his tactics? If we couldn’t outpace the French out wide, go through them. The injection of Skelton and McCabe to #12 would surely bend the defensive line, draw defenders, create space out wide and create momentum. Foley is a fantastic 7s player and he constantly wraps ( it worked last yr for the Waratahs when Horne played at #12), creating space out wide.
3. Where was the mongrel? The team lacked killer conviction. We need to learn to win ugly, but also drown the opposition. The French had to score and convert and we would have lost the match.
4. The kicking was terrible. I would not have called it tactical but wasteful.
Hopefully EM doesn’t hold back and Sydney is treated to some fantastic running rugby.
Sliding door moments from the second Wallabies Test
NO. The minnows will be thrashed.
No point adding anything else to this article.
The Rugby World Cup must expand to 32 teams
I can’t see too many more changes. The WC is only a yr away. I think EM will try to lock combinations away and blood youth.
