Kohli is a proven entity. That being said; Jaiswal has burst onto the Test cricket scene with insane numbers and Gill continues to consolidate his place at 3 in the Indian team. Neither of the two latter blokes are 24. Just crazy talent available for India. Here in Australia half the nation are up in arms because old mate Bancroft at nigh on 32 with quite ordinary numbers and on the back end of a cycling accident is somehow overlooked behind Usman or Smith as a walk up start as Test opener. Dunno what the future holds, but don’t reckon it’s good for Australia.

Kohli still the big fish but Gill breathes new life into an Indian team which could sink Australia next summer

As a Test cricket nerd, I have been blessed in the last three weeks. Have seen the young man Jaiswal tear England apart with the bat; then Cam Green come of age. This afternoon on an absolute dodgy deck I had the privilege of watching Ravindra make 50 without raising a sweat against an highly rated, angry and determined Australian bowling attack. I am Aussie, New Zealand will probably lose this match; but I for one would love to see the kid spank the Kiwi’s to an improbable victory.
I support Australia, however I love Test cricket.

Black Caps dare to dream of epic comeback win after Australia's brittle batting exposed by part-time spinner

It was a super impressive knock. England were in all sorts prior to lunch, really enjoyed watching his innings.

Root silences Bazball critics while returning to form with ton as England keep comeback series win hopes alive

Just chalk it up as a moral victory. It works for England.

'Special to watch': David's demolition propels Australia to last-ball cliffhanger win after bowlers earn unwanted record

Australian ‘bowlers earn unwanted record’. Look I am probably thinking rationally here but don’t hold it against me. Yeah we’ve gone for over 200 in our last four games, yeah! by my reckoning Australia still won three of them Call me silly, would rather do that, than keep the opposition to under 150 and get beaten four times. 215 is only a good score if you defend it.

'Special to watch': David's demolition propels Australia to last-ball cliffhanger win after bowlers earn unwanted record

Bottom line ! If Bazball is the answer, what is the question? Yes England picked up their first World Cup, what was that , over four years ago. Since then, nada. Yeah they pushed Australia in an attempt to win the Ashes. Got spanked senseless in Oz, then were competitive in the last three Tests in England. Won the first Test in India, but Geez; gotta have plan B.

Bazball won’t save Test cricket - but it’s time to give ‘whingeing Poms’ overdue credit for dramatic turnaround

Completely agree; nearly lost my mind being forced to watch the last Ashes series on commercial TV, it’s horrendous.

Shamar's a superstar: Windies rookie destroys Australia with all-time great spell to break 27-year drought in cliffhanger

Yes! The best bowling quartet ever gathered…. Just a lot of crap. To go from 5 for 64 to nigh on 8 for 300. Lyon has morphed into some neo Warner, apparently wants to play until he is on a walking frame, he has served up rubbish at best all Summer, probably will become un droppable for the next half decade serving up pies and excrement. Look I love the West Indies heart, but bottom line they are a scratch team at best, and if Australia were half as good as the media gave them credit for, they should have been batting for at least an hour tonight.

Men in Maroon tickled pink: Windies show grit with true Test batting after top-order collapse to keep Aussies at bay

Really good post, that one.

Grabbing a cold one: What I'd like to discuss with David Warner

Can only hope so

'Hope they don't': Langer warns against Green opener move as McDonald confirms Smith in the frame

Bancroft don’t bowl and averages 27 odd across 10 Tests. Green bowls, bats and is a gun field, averages 33 odd across 14 Tests. Green is 24 and Bancroft 31, WTF am I missing.

'Hope they don't': Langer warns against Green opener move as McDonald confirms Smith in the frame

Coming from the bloke that refused Khawaja a game. Yeah! Credibility lost there.

'Hope they don't': Langer warns against Green opener move as McDonald confirms Smith in the frame

I’m not one of them; but I’d tune in to see Cam Green play a game of cricket instead of run around in a fluro top. But then again the World XI would probably select him as twelfth man, and it would be more of the same.

'Technology curse': Pakistan director slams 'inconsistent' umpiring after contentious DRS call cruels hopes of famous win

What dissent? Have you not witnessed any of Steve Smith’s dismissals since 2015. At least Pakistan are taking it seriously; we should be grateful. The West Indies scratch team will be here in a few weeks. After a day of watching them we will be praying for an opposition with a bit of mongrel.

'Technology curse': Pakistan director slams 'inconsistent' umpiring after contentious DRS call cruels hopes of famous win

Completely empathise with Pakistan. They were switched on today, not a lot of sides push back hard at Australia over here, and they did. Kudos to them on making this Test a fantastic watch; dunno whether DRS should extend through the consumption of a couple of beers. Suppose they got it right eventually. Love Pat Cummins, he is aging like an exceptional wine; hope he is in charge of this side for at least a couple of more years. This has been a really absorbing Boxing Day Test. I love real cricket.

You are certainly spot on. 270 in a day back in the 70’s and 80’s was incredible. Also have to remember batsmen were using conventional cricket bats, not the half trees they have access to today.

Australia’s quartet of quality will soon be most prolific in Test history - but never the greatest

It’s a little bit of a hypocritical two way street. Old mate Mitch has been strung up by the nads as a result of his comments (read behaviour); then Warner’s behaviour ( by averaging SFA as an opener in Tests) for the last half decade has resulted in him being a walk up start in every Test side regardless. There’s an imbalance, at best.

'Everyone's best interests': Mitch Johnson loses CA gig after personal attack on Warner

Don’t agree with much of what you say Barb; but you are spot on regarding Cam Green.

'Everyone's best interests': Mitch Johnson loses CA gig after personal attack on Warner

Yeah! Sadly my initial comments haven’t aged well. Despite my foray into BBL SuperCoach, in order to develop some sort of interest in T20, I lasted 2 hours into Game 1. I suppose it’s 2 hours more than I have watched in the last 4 years, guaranteed it will be 2 hours more than I will watch in the next 4. It’s sort of like cricket, but sadly, in reality nothing like it. Hey I gave it a go.

Time for Test cricket fans to do the annual ‘give BBL a try’ merry dance - it's not for everyone ... and that's OK

Love Test and ODI cricket. Have not watched a BBL match at all since 2018. In an attempt to garner some interest in it, I have entered Supercoach BBL (fantasy cricket), so at least I will be inclined to give it a go this season.

Is Cam Green being totally mishandled or is it just me? I’ve been watching this PM’s XI play Pakistan. I am guessing Green is in the side as an all rounder. He bowls a fairly heavy ball at rapid pace, yet here we are 71 overs in, Murph isn’t looking flash and this Webster fellow is as an innocuous medium pacer as I’ve ever seen. Prevailing sanity should suggest Green would have had a spell or two by now. As I speak a part time spinner has been introduced into the attack.

Do Australians love Test cricket or just watching the baggy green side win at home pretty much all the time?

The ironic part, while I totally agree with you; is that while both sides are well down on form, one sits at third on the table and the other at tenth.

We're better than the Aussies 'man for man': Root makes outrageous claim with woeful Poms last on World Cup ladder

Agree with you Don; it seems like England are clinging on to what may have been, provided Australia just let Bairstow wander around like a drunk on Friday night. That being said I did not predict the Pom’s woeful output thus far in the World Cup. That most recent Ashes series has messed with their heads, more than even I realised.

Same old Broady, always bleating: Hard to take Stuart's 'absolute disgrace' claims seriously

C’mon mate. Stop being so kind.

'An absolute disgrace': Broad lifts lid on fiery Cummins clash over Bairstow incident - and how the Aussie captain bit back

Geez, lighten up. India did it in a canter, still had 8 overs to spare. Let the bloke enjoy his hundred.

COMMENT: Virat Kohli just scored the most selfish hundred since Boycott - and he should be embarrassed
