Time to regulate social media and remove the anonymity – all the major sporting leagues should be lobbying the Government for stronger action.

NRL Round 23 talking points: Don’t act surprised, we all saw this coming

Last years prelim demonstrated that I guess. Anything could happen!

NRL talking points Round 18: Fake injuries and fake contenders while Penrith do as they please

Concerns about being labelled and idiot aside AJ, who is your premiership favourite right now?

Geelong have the AFL wrapped up, can we say the same for the Panthers?

NRL talking points Round 18: Fake injuries and fake contenders while Penrith do as they please

There are 15 supporter bases that don’t want to lose to the Broncos, AJ. Should the Knights have had a go? If they get bundled out in an elimination final it’s a sour way to end the season.

NRL Round 25 talking points: Resting to be tested and Cecchin gets late respect

This season has been about a month too long. The supporter Venn circles don’t intersect by a lot but the AFL is already up to week 2 of the finals while NRL players are dropping like flies with only the bottom half of the 8 to be worked out.

NRL's unsavoury execution of Mitchell and officials, how Eels sprung surprise: Talking Points

The Wallabies flew over there, are you expecting two NRL clubs to paddle in dinghies?

Dumb kicks, rough edges and a New Zealand grand final? NRL Round 21 talking points

To lean on Pearl Jam, “If you hate something, don’t you do it too”. You’ve criticised League HQ aplenty for lacking initiative and here you are dismissively shooting down a GF across the Tasman.

Drawing on an exhibition game v Great Britain to theorise about attendance at an NRL finale is drawing on a particularly long bow. And 16k for 2019 home game attendance put the Warriors in the top 6 of club averages.

Do something new!

Dumb kicks, rough edges and a New Zealand grand final? NRL Round 21 talking points

My main second half 2021 wish is that we get the comp into a position where the 2022 season is unimpeded, fans get back into stadiums and we can enjoy some form of normality again.

It’s a big one and not sure how much the NRL can do to guarantee it, but I always wish for a million dollars when blowing out my birthday candles too!

My NRL 2021 wish list revisited

What about moving the game to NZ? The Warriors haven’t played a home game in nearly two years and have a 5000 person waiting list for general admission. Our kiwi brothers and sisters seem better placed to handle Covid.

It's a critical week for the NRL season

Not sure I’d get there JGK! Hard to shoot free throws when you’ve been stomped into the court …!

Are you not entertained?

Agreed. I’m not always putting the ball under the sticks in everyday life.

Are you not entertained?

To think the Sixers could have chosen Brandon Ingram over Simmons, or even traded him this past off season for Chris Paul.

RIP The Process, and a warning to any rebuilding NRL team.

Are you not entertained?

So much Simmons Sixers gear became redundant this series. What a disaster!

Are you not entertained?

It’s been a long hard slog for all of us since the beginning of 2020, footy clubs aren’t immune.

My faith in things improving is based on how entertaining the NBA playoffs have been after a pretty grind it out regular season.

Are you not entertained?

Just the standard start of winter / mid season malaise – things will get better!

Are you not entertained?

And now it’s up to them to maintain that value!

As renown league fan Edna Ferber once said, ‘nickname are fond names. We do not give them to people we dislike.’

NSW Blues Origin 1 team: Expert reaction, every selection analysed

Mitho, whose absence from their club team only enhanced their NSW selection? I personally reckon a few of the Panthers origin contingent added some $ to their next contract.

NSW Blues Origin 1 team: Expert reaction, every selection analysed

Origin helps divert attention from the Storm- Roosters hegemony that has dominated the NRL for 20 years. Maybe if my team had more of a chance of winning it all then I wouldn’t be as invested.

Origin stuffs up the NRL, again

Imagine being a free agent with the choice of exact dollars between a Sydney club and a non-Sydney club? Itd be a non-choice based on travel and the impact on your body/longevity/ earning capacity.

Flying kites about a ‘Sydney conference’ makes the NRL look idiotic

That’s a fair comment because I have generalised. But also I believe that the European Super League is based on contrived competition and exclusivity and I see that in the Sydney/ National conference proposal. Implement this and how long until the Sydney clubs start asking for a bigger slice of the TV revenue ‘cos they are playing the games everyone wants to watch’? Then you have a two tier competition.

Flying kites about a ‘Sydney conference’ makes the NRL look idiotic

You’d think Head Office would have read the room after the European Super League debacle to understand a Sydney/ National conference structure was a non- starter.

Flying kites about a ‘Sydney conference’ makes the NRL look idiotic

Reckon Head Office or their broadcast partners would ever countenance a reduction from 80 minutes to 70 then?

IMO they should do both. Increase the bench and reduce the playing time.

Is the NRL finally starting to 'get it' by punishing high shots?

Great article AJ, do what you always do and get what you always get.

But do you think fatigue plays a part in high shots? Is the game too quick and fierce to be technically correct all the time? Should we increase the subs bench to not only manage injuries better but to also make sure players have more in the tank and they can play safer?

Is the NRL finally starting to 'get it' by punishing high shots?

Strip Melbourne of premierships, isn’t that what normally happens?

But seriously, Formula One drivers get stripped of positions so league teams should lose points for gaming the rules.

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

The whole players /coaches committing to new clubs for the next season and undercutting present players/coaches really draws out the cold heart reality of professional sports.

Backing, not sacking, young coaches is what brings results
