Maybe the Rebs need to debut a new sleeveless rugby jersey to captured Victorian’s hearts and minds. 😂

Progress is slowly happening: What each of our Aussie Super Rugby teams must do to take the next step

Surely the order would be:
Lolesio starting.
Gordon or Donaldson off the bench depending on conditions and the game plan.
Lynagh is the development project to cover long term injury or a move abroad.
The old dogs – provide that off field and technical input and working one-on-one with the youngsters, particularly Quade. O’Connor hasn’t had the game time recently, though could be clutch depending how deep the Reds can go. Beale seems not be have missed much of a beat and he or Foley could pull the Alfie Langer and step off the plane onto the field…

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

Here here piru. I’d go a step further and say that the Reds and Tahs are the only safe teams in Aus.

It's hard to tell if some of Australia's Super Rugby teams actually have a deep desire to win - or are they satisfied just playing?

Cheika has demonstrated he possesses great knowledge about rugby league, he’s media savvy and has plenty of experience in all sorts of set-ups at the elite level.
…guiding Lebanon into five Tests, including a credible quarter-final appearance at the 2022 World Cup.

So what skills box does being an assistant in the NRL tick or develop further that he doesn’t possess currently? Aside from ‘omg not one of us’ and the very amorphis ‘hasn’t served his time’, there’s not really an argument for why he couldn’t do it.

He was also an advisor to Robinson during 2020…

The big step back Cheika needs to take if he ever wants to snare an NRL coaching gig

Interesting analysis and you touched on the very important culture around it, not just the technical ability to utilise it.

I think this ties back to we must play the Australian way (whatever exactly that may be) and that to do that and not win was better than getting a turgid, boring, ‘ground out a win’ match that was so criticised when Jake-Ball was introduced…

Australian rugby is so reluctant to develop a kicking game - and that's a big mistake

Well that and there’ll be one less pool next year due to the situation in Victoria.

Australia's SRP sides may have fallen at trans-Tasman hurdle - but three signs point to a closing gap

Trouble is he’d probably have half the squad out the door by the end of the season if they don’t align with his world view…

Good outcome for Paisami and the Reds. 😊

Exclusive: Wallabies star turns down mega deal overseas to re-sign with Queensland Reds

I agree, however I feel that across most of the Australian squads there is a far more limited ability to properly manage and rotate workloads, get game time for developing and fringe players at this level without comprising outputs compared to New Zealand. I don’t know if that’s a coaching, player or squad issues, or is exacerbated by the shape of our available talent pools.

At the lower level that comes down to coaches better managing their squad’s workloads across the tail end of the season – of course injuries or suspension gaps cause their fare share of problems.

However it then comes down the issue that if the teams are exhausted by the end of the regular season, how can they then be expected to play a follow on domestic comp and or perform at their peak for international duty.

Australia's SRP sides may have fallen at trans-Tasman hurdle - but three signs point to a closing gap

No, if players are fit and available, they should be selected, none of this ‘trying to clever by half’ resting and rotation nonsense. Especially if a bonus point win (or just a solid win) might mean the difference between getting a home semi if you win your qtr.

Well put piru, I don’t know why people think he wants to save it nationally.

'Toughest decision': Wallaby's blunt admission over form as Force land Brumbies lock, teammate brought to tears

Oh, you hear pretty much everyone who isn’t a City fan mention the 1-1-5 thanks to having an entire nation bank-rolling your team.

COMMENT: It's a disgrace rugby is heading to Qatar - but that's not because of sportswashing

Wow, looks like the entire first-grade Strawman XV have come running onto the pitch today with this one…

COMMENT: It's a disgrace rugby is heading to Qatar - but that's not because of sportswashing

Origin is played right in the middle of the regular season and the entirety Rugby League doesn’t come to a grinding stop. Rugby seems to have this strange idea we can only do one thing at a time.

The Wrap: Rugby Australia gaslights Rebels staff and why ‘I Can’t Go For That’

I’d prefer they play the games across the suburban grounds or at McKellar Park or even Manuka Oval – Viking Park is pretty long in the tooth apart from the club itself, and is way out in the deep South – and a real headache to get to on public transport.

Be interesting to see how all this recruitment (and the wage bill) at the Force is accounted for under the salary cap, and how much money RA chipped in.

'Toughest decision': Wallaby's blunt admission over form as Force land Brumbies lock, teammate brought to tears

Have things been historically run well in NZ, or a series of ups and downs over the years? I suppose are they saying “it’s not great, but hey, at least we’re not RA!”

Crusaders better watch out, maybe their Kiwi brethren will get them cut and the Rebs can be saved. 😛

The Wrap: Rugby Australia gaslights Rebels staff and why ‘I Can’t Go For That’

Not really sure I follow the logic of that. From an outsider’s perspective, Rugby in NZ seems fairly secure in terms of its administration and in the public consciousness as the provincial and national sport.

The NRL could expand into NZ tomorrow if it wanted to invest the resources and money, I don’t think whether the Rebs existing or not would impact that. Wouldn’t the logic be to swoop in for a second Victorian league team, though I think PNG is getting the next team given the political involvement.

Agree, the Brumbies were under pressure for decent amounts of the game, and Reimer saved their bacon – and it looks like he finally took Larkham’s direction to shave those sideburns! (Simpsons reference). Otherwise it was a sodden old night for most of the first half the game, highlighting the need for any sort of improved/new stadium – or at least stopping the many nuffies rocking up with golf umbrellas to keep the rain off.

If the reports from across the ditch are true, then the Rebs seem to be done and dusted unfortunately. I wonder what the Kiwi’s are getting out of this, or at least what RA pitched to them. Despite the whole ‘lets rip the bandaid off quickly’ mentality earlier in the year, it seems like its same old, same old stumbling around, and despite the corporate wrangling, at the end of the day, its rugby community that suffers.

I think this will actually now force RA to put out its vision and plan for rugby in Victoria and more broadly in this country now if it wants to have any hope of building back trust (or competency) with the rugby community.

Aside from winding it up and possibly phoenix-ing it into some other sort of Australian franchise somewhere, it’s not clear what the actual plan is from a RA perspective.

This needs to be about winning hearts and minds as much as during it out between lawyers.

Rebels face more hurdles despite $25m rescue plan, call on RA to show support and reveal hand as court battle looms

Next 30 days is going to get interesting for any negotiation to happen with them, RA and the ATO, or it’ll be silks at 10 paces…

Maybe the Tahs are just crap and Wellington are quite good?

The Roar's Super Rugby expert tips and predictions, Round 11: Are the Aussie sides in for an old-fashioned NZ trip to hell?

Well I would imagine that this puts the ball firmly in their court to demonstrate how they will raise the funds, the business plans, vision and communications plans to effectively win the public battle as well as the corporate one.
