I don’t think he will take any gig for a while. Club football coaches overseas get more scrutiny and critique than he was getting here, it can be a pretty hard job, so I’d say he’ll likely take a bit of time off.

Bobo, Ninko, Zullo, Wilko, Simo, Adriano, Brillanto, Redmayno, Brosqueo. Meh, kind of lost it and the end there

If they go that route, whoever we get needs to do both the World Cup and the Asian Cup. The Asian Cup is the silverware we should be aiming at winning again, and if we have to throw in a new coach after the World cup it may have a negative affect.

I feel like having Adrian and Ninko is like activating a cheat mode in a video game.

We need a coach to do the World cup and the Asian cup, as it follows closely behind.
Ange Postecoglou quits as Socceroos boss
The Asian cup is only 6 months after the World Cup, and we really need to be trying to win it, so we really need a coach who would be willing to do both tournaments. An international coach might be an option on a 1 year deal, or we can think long term like we did when we picked Ange in the first place.

I agree that he’s a different coach now, hence why I picked him as the guy I would choose. Though some people with those memories may be a little harder to convince.

The question is who do we go with next?
With the World Cup and then the Asian Cup not that long after it, I feel that we shouldn’t go for a stopgap coach. I’d prefer to see us go with a local manager, but who do you choose?
Arnie seems like a good idea, with his teams on top of everything domestically, but he has done it once before and didn’t turn out the best.
Muscat would be a logical choice having spent time in the camp recently and also has a good coaching record. But his team are currently sitting in a form slump.
Popovic has a good record in Australia, but has recently moved overseas and trying to make it in Europe. Though his team isn’t doing great in Turkey, so he might be available sooner rather than later.
Gombau would have been a great choice, but he now has only just started his new role and its unlikely he would want to leave.
If its not one of these guys, then it has to be international.
Personally, I’d go Arnie, as he has developed a lot as a coach over the past ten years.
Ange Postecoglou quits as Socceroos boss
Judging by his comments, I’m thinking its an entirely personal reason.

Ninkovic and Adrian in the same team, when both reach full fitness, is going to be a sight to behold.

Brillante has been huge this game. Silently bossing the midfield

I can’t find a single piece of evidence suggesting this. Care to share some?

If Australia had been lined up against Peru I reckon they would have beaten us – it was a tough matchup. Though they played much better once Wood came on, and on another day if he had started who knows what might have been. I bet the Kiwi’s can’t wait for automatic qualification becomes and option.
New Zealand miss out on World Cup after falling to Peru
Yeah I’m confused too, what line? Ange has it easy from the fans and media compared to the criticism most other international coaches get, let alone club coaches. Pim and Holger copped more critique than Ange ever did.

Key difference is that England formation was closer to 5 at the back – Walker and Bertrand are full back/wing backs, not advanced wingers like Leckie. 3 at the back can work really well if the wide players have a good defensive mindset, because they have to be able to track back and protect wide areas. Ange’s problem in the past was putting strikers/attacking midfielders like Leckie and Kruse in these positions and wondering why we get torn apart on the flanks.
Having said that, whilst we presented last night as three at the back Jedinak played very deep, often playing as our deepest player in possession, effectively making it 4 at the back at times. Really allowed us to be solid defensively.

City 1 – 0 Syd – I reckon it will either be a city win or a draw, but I’m going for a city win
New 2 – 1 Nix – Jets to steal it at home
perth 3 – Adelaide 2 – glory always look better at home
Roar 0 – 2 CCM – if this happens, Roar is in huge trouble this season. Starting to become make or break
Victory 0 – 1 Wanderers – If this happens also, Victory are in all sorts
Huge games for Roar and Victory, potentially season defining if they lose, and a potential Grand final preview with City and Sydney. This is going to be an awesome set of games this weekend.

The second one someone spelt Nem’s user name wrong – is this an attempt at trolling Nem and failing? Or some sort of break in space time causing another dimension to merge into our own?

I love the idea of promotion/relegation. What I’d like to see is a second division established, and the top division expanded. I reckon you do both at the same time, establish the second division and promote more teams than you relegate for a period of time (slowly), until the top division is sufficiently big (14 teams maybe?) and then proceed like normal from there.
A model for promotion and relegation in the A-League
It might be a poor excuse, but its an observable trend from many many years in the A-league. That crowd is almost exactly what was getting achieved last year too. It may be an Allianz stadium thing too, as crowds are lower on Friday nights for other sports too – the last Friday night regular season game the Roosters had at the venue was also substantially lower – 7000 as opposed to their average of around 15,000.

Its always been an issue in the A-league for Sydney. I remember people whinging about it last year too – crowds are 7000-10,000 lower on a Friday in Sydney. This result pretty much matches almost exactly what they were getting last year on Friday nights. Overall crowds are up 11.5% so far this season, so I’m not too worried.

Friday night kills the crowd. Been happening for years – anything other than a Sat night kills it.

He busts a gut to close down opposition players, and is very cool in possession, able to work the ball around in tight areas. Very intelligent and super fit. He has to be on the radar of the Socceroo’s, if not a European move in the near future.
