Season-ending injuries are crippling (no pun intended) too many clubs. Clubs should be able to recruit a replacement player of equal value for the duration of any season-ending injured players’ time out without incurring any salary-cap penalty.

NRL needs to solve salary cap problems

How many times do players need to be told that they need to play at a competetive 1st grade level? I’m startting to think that the yellow on the Parra jersey represents a banana skin = ladder slide
2005 = 1st
2006 = 8th
2007 = 5th
2008 = 11th
2009 = 8th
2010 = 12th
2011 = 14th
2012 = 16th

Eels exodus: Stuart did what was needed

For mine, Minichello is the best NSW Origin fullback ever, and he deserves one last hurrah game to super-sweeten his Premiership win & retirement this year.
Dragons rule, OK.

TURNER: Dragon Dugan on course for an Origin fairytale

Trent Barrett has thrown his hat into an imaginary, or is it real?, coaching role position ring. Woe betide us!

What a great gesture ~ Soward gave his headgear to a Newcastle ball boy after yesterday’s game

Why do fans hate Jamie Soward?

Hayne tweeted that he’d be sweet for Origin 2. If he’s not, I’d go for Minichello or Stewart

Seems to me you’ve never played & can only criticise from the safe side of the fence.

Parra are playing like they did before Bob the Bear O’Reilly teamed up with ’em ~ eternal losers! But I’m hoping them home over the chooks tonight. Go Sparky!!

No way Gallen is or will be most viscous foul player ever ~ not while anyone un-selectively cares to remember Les Boyd! Gallen is a proper pansy by comparison.

Is Gallen brave or just plain stupid?

So right or wrong, who is the better or tougher man? ~ Gallen for dishing it out to an unresponding opponent, or Myles for taking it on the chin and leaving it on the field?

Blues had plan for Myles: Watmough

Rule #1 ~ don’t let the “niggle” put you off your game. That’s what it’s intended to do.
Rule #2 ~ when illegalities repeatedly occurr, quietly point it out to BOTH refs when opportune.
Rule #3 ~ if the illegalities continue without ref’s penalising them ~ knuckle up, then knuckle down

Is Gallen brave or just plain stupid?

Every NRL coach instructs his key players to avoid unnecessarily or directly taking on bigger stronger opponents, especially when the players around him are responsible for PROTECTING their game-maker. To not do so would invite injury disaster for the primary play-maker, and THAT is why Soward backs off frome time to time (NOT always as some falsely claim). Soward is no Trent Barrett for size., and I for one take that into consideration.
Speaking of Barrett ~ he alone made more dumb mistakes in any one game than Rein & Fein do together for a season.

Gallen played exactly the same way that Wally Lewis played. No difference whatsoever.

Four observations about State of Origin 2013 game 1

I reckon Greg Bird was man of the match

State of Origin 2013 Game 1 Full-time result: NSW 14-6 QLD

You know he’s a queenslander when he cops a left and a right to the jaw, and just stands there wondering.

I’ve followed the Dragons since 1965, and I’ve never seen one Dragons player ever so maligned as Sowie. However the ‘inside’ word is that he reckons he’s far better than he really is, that he always referrs to himself in the 3rd person as a point of superiority. Other excellent players with similar attitudes that distrupt team harmony have been let go before, most recently the likes of Ennis the Menace & Piggy Riddell, and I don’t see why Sowie or anyone else should be an exception.

Refereeing bias has handed the toads so many hollow “wins” I’ve lost count. Tonight should be no different, and I remain highly sceptical that the current bunch of ref’s are capable of anything remotely resembling fair refereeing. Anytime the roaches win, they’ve overcome the toads AND the ref’s. When the toads win, well, they always have the extra man playing for them (with the whistle), so any win for the toads isn’t necessarily because they’re any good at all, they just ‘whistle-up’ a win.

Why Queensland will win State of Origin I

What’s your opinion of the “no obstruction” try by the dogs last night oikee? For mine it was a no-brainer no-try, given two dummy runners standing amongst defence, and that’s exactly where the try was scored

Perhaps they should stare each other out BEFORE the game. Then some real footy might be played 😉

+1 on the forward passes by Mennis that were let go by incompetent ref extrordinaire Maxwell, plus flat passes by Fein & Rein called forward. Even Goose Gould said the Dragons were “hard done by” by several ref calls, and he’s blind to the obvious!
With that off my chest, Dragon’s so-called “attack” is missing in action ~ presumed dead, while Nightingale, Rein, & Stockwell each handed the ball back to the dogs, critically inside their own 40.
To see a side with the ball standing flat-footed and watching while a half, a five-eighth, and a full-back, run back and forward across the field only to pass back to no-one umpteen times and lose 10 – 15 meters on each occasion is beyond description for this Dragons Tragic since 1965. Both the Dragons and the dogs appear to have a one-pass off the ruck and hope something happens structure to their play.
The man-of-the-match awards are also a farce. The BIG and ONLY difference between the two sides was Frank Pritchard, who comprises 95% of the dogs momentum in attack & defence. Every week.

NSW are training and they find this strange white substance on the ground that they’ve never seen before so they send it to a lab, the results come back, and ~ its the TRY LINE
