Joey and Freddie are right: There are too many teams in Sydney
Easts have made 7 of the last 19 Grand Finals. Please find me a club that can match that besides Melbourne who cheated.

Another Rugby League heartland neglected by the NRL. Quality stadium too.

The idea of behinds only being a factor is the goals are even I quite like. So they dont become completely irrelevant but their relevance is only factored in if both teams kick the same amount of goals, which at the end of the day is the aim of the sport. Nice thinking Munro!

If you remain a rookie much longer, the Roar are not doing their job properly. But no replays, those days are gone. Get the result on the day.

Some great tries by kicks though. Slater in Origin in 2004 is one that would deserve more than just the 4 points imo.

5 points for all tries seams like a good suggestion to me…

Just on that last paragraph, some interesting suggestions. I also wouldnt mind the bunker adjudicating on forward passes. The play the ball as a contest was buried in 1997, and thats the best place for it sorry mate. I agree with the stripping rule, Alfie Langer stole it once or twice, and over time its become 6 times a match. People just dont remember so they make stuff up.

Do they have that advantage penalty in England? The good thing about that is the attacking team get a free crack, and it doesnt stop play.. Worth a shot in a trial. As for the Dragons/Souths game, there is no doubt he tries to milk it, but you shouldnt get a reward for lying in the ruck. I agree, play on.

I think their fear may be it looks too much like touch footy… but im a fan. Im also a fan of it in football (soccer) instead of a penalty shoot out. Althought penalty shootouts in football are exciting, its completely unfair to the poor bloke/woman who misses and the responsibility of the loss is left with that person. Team sport, win or lose as a team.

The reason for a 5 point try only if you have the ball is then you have constructed the try, rather than picking up on a mistake from the opposition. Although i think the chances of this ever coming in are next to no chance, i think they could try in out in a game of 9s.
Conversions to me are part of the try scoring process, I just find the idea of not being close to a try and still scoring a point with a field goal a cheap way to score points.
The 7 set six is ridiculous. I’d be happy with kicks inside 40m to just be a 6 tackle restart, but if the cut off was the 20m line id also be ok with that.
Thanks for your reply.

It’s actually not that bad Sam. The problem will be the aim to get there will mean a lot of one up runs making as many metres as possible to get the two extra tackles. So league will become a bit too predictable and one dimentional, and given the emphasis on stats now compared to 25 years ago already, we probably want to stay away from further one dimensional things in league.

Thanks Sammy. I think people just like to disagree either for the sake of it or to feel smarter than someone else to be honest. Thanks for your excellent reply and feedback.

Remember back door and Mario raking the ball in the ruck. Tunksy had a go as well. Langers… a few others. Pricey kicking it through legs to scores tries close to the line from the play the ball. Ah… take me back 😀

They are pretty obsessed these days with ‘completed sets’, hence the lack of movement. IF you complete more you win more im sure the stats will show and all of that rubbish. 6 tackles though i think is fine. Thanks Sam for your reply.

That last paragraph… could have legs. Id like to think the days of a hitman sent on to do a bit of damage and then just get replaced are 30 years behind us. However being a bit old school i’d be on the reluctant side to go with that.

You will not be a rookie for long. The Roar will be upgrading you sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your feedback. The days of proper scrums are long gone. Kids (im talking 5-20 year olds) these days wouldnt know what a proper scrum even is.

You can get great tries from 25 metres, and you can get some not so great tries. I think just about all long range tries tend to have something special about them.

No, not to whinge. I definitely dont support St.George/Illawarra… or Penrith for that matter. I just think there is improvement in RL and if the rule is not right, fix it. The 5 point try I think is a reward for the spectacular tries like the superb one Penrith scored the other night.

Which bit is satire? The bit where I suggest rewarding RL people and their heartlands?
