'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

Good idea NP and agree the NRC is long gone. Agree the OZ SR clubs should partner with some of the NH clubs and look at player swaps during their respective season. It would be one way to make sure the SR teams have sufficient depth

The simple fix that could've spared Reds, Tahs GP heartbreak and could prevent it from happening again

Gee another great appointment, should we start to get excited??

Something seriously amiss in NSW that they lose their No 1 so rollout a 19yr fresh out of college who played with Max J

The top 15 are competitive but then simply not good enough. Someone must be responsible they are the one who should go

Oh boy what a game. Feel for TE, he obviously rushed the kick under pressure, whereas Valetini was just trying his luck. I do think a Fijian ran an obstruction, not that it matters
Very surprised about Byrne and that cap, maybe a bit of Steve Hansen rubbing off, no wonder the WBs couldn’t beat NZ when MB swapped sides

Joe Schmidt's search for a 'cold-hearted bastard' - and the issue he'll lose most sleep over

I’m pretty sure it was , Twas disagrees but my memory was Fox tabled a bid of $45m , Raelene rejected looking to drive up the value. Fox withdrew their bid and McL came in and re engaged

Fox Sports, which has been Rugby Australia’s sole broadcast partner since the birth of professional rugby back in 1995, has indicated it has withdrawn from negotiations with Rugby Australia. from the Australian on 7th Feb 2020

Strong custodians or factional hacks pushing state agendas? The numbers that will decide future of Australian rugby

I thought he got 9/Stan on board. The previous incumbents had told Fox to shove their 45m, Fox responding by taking the offer off the table and moved on.

McL came in and created an opportunity and got 9/Stan to sign, just ahead of the administrators. I think he also got Harvey Norman as sponsor. So I think you should acknowledge that contribution

Holly Moley anyone seen the prices to attend the BIL tests. Paying $400+ to sit in the bleaches they’re kidding.

On sale this afternoon and only 25% available whose getting the rest

'We need to accelerate': Waugh admits RA behind schedule on Rebels future as tickets sold to ailing club's Lions clash

The golden decade 😂 😂 just logged on to but tickets to the BIL game geez you need a gold bar just to sit in the bleachers, these guys are kidding

The Wrap: Reds light up Melbourne, while it's lights out for TV over Lienert-Brown concussion

At your provocative best this morning GP.

Agree Way had a good game, (he’s hot on the breakdown), and in fairness when BOK enforced the “use it 9” in Rd 2 there was barely a mention in the wrap up. I also noticed in one of the other games the ref gave a 2 second warning to the 9, after the initial warning.

The judiciary process worries me and in particular the way they hand down suspensions. Sef Fa’agase sentence of 4 weeks for what was really a simple head clash seems out of sync with the JP incident where there there was no attempt to dip but the suspension was 3 weeks.

Finally the in fighting between RA and the various states is embarrassing to the sport both here and globally. FFS get in a room , someone lock the door from the outside, and don’t let them out until everything is resolved and we can move on. I thought the takeover by the Old/ACT coalition was meant to improve things

The Wrap: Reds light up Melbourne, while it's lights out for TV over Lienert-Brown concussion

I thought it was a clumsy tackle at the time PK but gee 4weeks. Clearly that seems harsh compared to the JB effort the other week.
As for the late tackle that was out an out thuggery. Wait for the outcry when the shoe is on the other foot

Tupou won't shy away from hurting ex-teammates in first clash against old team, Reds prop cops surprising four-match ban

Shop 100% agree “If it is to be a serious professional competition, then players should be able to move freely between all teams.

AS per the other comments there is a few negatives however the positives are much better. For example TV rights in Oz would get an uplift because the comp would be closer & Oz based teams would be more competitive. Young players would get a chance to grow under more experienced hard heads. In time more and more Oz players would come thru, less players going o/seas switching to RL or AFL

Plus an added bonus a true state origin between NSW & Qld , while in NZ they could have a North v South.

OZ would only need to import around 20% of their playing stocks from NZ and I would think most would be in the forwards.

One issue that would need addressing would be coaching and this would be an issue for NZR. Perhaps the new commission could get involved to bring back Deans, Rennie , Hewat, Cheika or even McKenzie

'Fighting with one hand tied': To'omua calls on Rugby Australia to 'pick best Wallabies team' to stop international slide

Regarding 10 you are spot on Shoremen but Schmidt also said Sexton had been at Leinster for 3 years when he arrived but in that time he had been the understudy to the legendary Argentine NO 10 ( sorry can’t think of his name)

I think we’ll something similar with the WBs this year, mix of young and old

Jed, Ned and Tane Edmed: The direction Joe Schmidt should head to put Eddie era to bed

But I agree, Joe Schmidt will feel like he’s got something to work with.

As did EJ & DR but no-one has unlocked the secret formula. In the WC doco on Stan TT prior to the start of the Georgia game was he was really nervous, not about playing but about losing. Fix that mentality and we should go on a winning streak well over 50%

The Wrap: ‘World’s best provincial rugby competition’ delivers a superb Super Round

Like the ‘myth’ that Shute Shield isn’t as high a level as Super Rugby?
It would be naive to think that, it is of good standard but not SR standard
Who was the last league player RA “helped” transfer to a team that wasn’t the Waratahs?
JS is a kid who lives in Sydney, already under enormous pressure and what you think RA should ship him off to a far flung state
Who gets the most Wallaby top ups? Not sure
Which side, regardless of form or performance always seems to supply the majority of Wallabies.
Go check the WBs 2023 squad again

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

Good analysis John. The next couple of rounds, starting this weekend will be interesting. For me Chiefs, Crus, Reds & Canes all started the season at a high level.

The challenge is for the Reds to maintain this level and Tahs, Brums, Rebs & Force to get there this weekend.

ANALYSIS: How the Reds’ ruck system outshone their razzle dazzle - and why they must nail it against Canes

and run independently of NZR and RA

Poaching NZ coaches won't solve the Wallabies' woes - the real solution is a lot less sexy

Excellent training environment for some up and comers physical conditioners, physio, assistant coaches. Opportunity for RA to handle the appointments

The Wrap: Code Orange as looming Rebels decision places rugby pathways at risk

Sensible suggestion PK IMHO RA need a team in Melb and the Orange program needs continued support.

Maybe the SR commission can create an ANZAC based in Melb but fully funded via the commission and their respective bosses.
