I feel you’ve based Gawns rating on expectation from past games. He led by example all day, even after receiving a head knock. A true captain’s game, watching him organise players and run himself into the ground. I can’t see the justification in rating Brown higher than Gawn.

AFL grand final player ratings: Melbourne

You’re right Bontompelli completely disappeared half way through the third quarter along with half of his teammates. There’s no next week with a grand final, you must play the whole game out, sadly Footscray couldn’t. It must be said though Goodwin has to be given credit for the moves that changed a lot of it

AFL grand final player ratings: Western Bulldogs

Overly generous ratings overall to a team that just been flogged by 74 points

AFL grand final player ratings: Western Bulldogs

I’m not sure what moves Goodwin made half way through the third quarter, because they were dead for all money at that stage. The previous empty forward line suddenly filled back up and away they went like we know they can.

GRAND FINAL RESULT: Second-half avalanche sees Demons smash Dogs, end premiership drought

I’d like to see you produce some real figures that says Leichhardt Oval averages about 15,000 per game

'Sydney is looking over its shoulder': The Harbour City's relationship with rugby league

It’s time to get rid of those suburban grounds and start thinking about supporter comfort. Why is League played in all these little tin pot grounds with poor facilities and the crowds get drenched if it rains. Time to move into the 21st century and centralise games into quality venues just as the AFL has. I’m sure more people will turn up.

'Sydney is looking over its shoulder': The Harbour City's relationship with rugby league

Have to agree with you Thom, Daniher doesn’t belong on the top ten list of anything. Probably one of the most overrated players of recent times. His stats this year are no different to previous years. I think everyone got overexcited about his name and potential, but he just hasn’t lived up to it, poor bloke.

Forget the Brownlow – these are my top ten players of 2021

Footy is finished for Port Adelaide in case you’ve been hiding under a rock

The three ways the Demons or the Bulldogs can win the flag

I asked earlier in the year about him on another forum. No one had an answer then. Obviously the so called in the know Geelong bloggers on this site weren’t willing to admit to a bad call by the recruiters. From memory he wasn’t cheap either.

AFL top 100: Oh, so close

It’s about time a Port supporter came online to show some form. The rest must be too scared to raise their heads. I don’t have pay tv, I can only go on what I read and hear in the free press, and to me it comes across like a Buckley McGuire type relationship, particularly when he backs him to the hilt in ordinary times, that is the problem with having a celebrity president, always asked his opinion. By the way, I’m not a Victorian.

Sorry Port, the jig is up

I was referring to this whole article and most of the replies. What if the world exploded tomorrow. Same sort of what if’s you would have, even Collingwood and Carlton would still be stabbing each other in the back at board level

If Geelong still had Gary Ablett, they would've been unbackable flag favourites

You could have something there. Koch and Hinkley seem to be pretty good mates, a bit like Eddie and Buckley. McGuire called all the shots at Collingwood, it seems Koch is the only mouthpiece for Port. Hinkley is protected by Koch

Sorry Port, the jig is up

Too many if’s

If Geelong still had Gary Ablett, they would've been unbackable flag favourites

My major improvers for the season are both grand finalists. I didn’t expect either of them to make much of an impression on the eight. I thought both Richmond and West Coast would have put in strong shows. However the biggest disappointments were the preliminary finals, where both Port and Geelong one playing on their home ground got absolutely flogged

AFL top 100: 2021 - an amazing season

Good to see the Suns getting a few players back. They would have been sick of the one way street losing second or third year early draft picks to other clubs. The league is littered with Suns early draft picks poached from them.

Another Tiger becomes a Sun

Nice read Chuck. As a lifelong Hawks supporter it worries me that Jeffy Boy finally had the last say in the love/hate relationship with Clarkson, even to the detriment of the club, such is the ego of Kennett. Now that it’s done, we can only hope that Sam has the confidence and backing required to make the coach we need now.

Hawthorn season review: A remarkable reverse tank

Except for some reason they ended up with a soft draw given their relative finishing position. Hence their failure to win the big pressure finals games, even at home in front of the most parochial crowd in football.

‘They were deers in the headlights’: Is Ken Hinkley the man to lead the Power to their next flag?

Why does there have to be a funny one? Does that mean the broadcasters/game is no longer entertaining enough. Unfortunately nearly all the current commentators have had their noses broken that often they sound funny anyway.

The good, the bad and the Blocker: who are the best and worst of NRL's TV callers?

The Power have see sawed up and down over the years that Hinkley has been coach. They have always struggled to maintain consistency. Next year they will get a hard draw due to this year’s ladder position and probably fall away. The following year they will get an easier draw for the same reasons and rise up the ladder. They have never been capable of consistently holding a top four ladder position.

Stronger words than I would use Peter, but I fully agree with you in all aspects about Scott. He just becomes an angry, aggressive little bully at press conferences when questioned regarding game plans etc

Any Danger of impacting a big game?

Need to remember the Dogs just missed fourth spot by a narrow percentage to Brisbane.

'Only one team wanted it enough and it showed': Talking points from the Doggies demolition job

You can tell when he is having a bad game, he mouths off to the umpires and the opposition as he did Friday night. He is obviously a quality player, but not being a Geelong supporter I can’t comment on his previous finals performances, but if they were anything like Friday then he has problems with big pressure games.

Any Danger of impacting a big game?

I don’t know if Scott can change. Next season if they get a few early wins he will go yeah we are back on track and not make major changes. They might recruit another ready made player from somewhere to fill a gap. I predict deja vu for Geelong in 2022. Speaking of their recruits, what has happened to Jenkins, I can’t remember him playing a game since they brought him from the crows.

The Cats march steadily onwards over the cliff

Hinkley lost his finals while playing at Geelong, enough said.

'Only one team wanted it enough and it showed': Talking points from the Doggies demolition job

I’m not sure why you have included Clarkson in your comparisons, he has four flags, the other ones aren’t even in his league.
