Well actually it all didn’t end in the early 2000s.

We had the 2008 Confidis affair where the whole team was rubbed out of the Tour de France which ranks as in the top 3 Cycling doping cases – 1998 Festina and lance running top 2.

Astana have also had 4 riders busted in less than 6 months and Tieren-Locke was also done for doping – note the test was pre Sky days.

We had multiple riders also busted in the 2014 Giro.

The sport is far from clean and the chapter is not closed.

Very strong rumours of a lot of top riders taking next Gen EPO for which there is not a test yet to detect.

It's time to stop the cycling witch hunt

Clear we need to see the B samples but doesn’t look good.

I don’t care about Diaz but if you are pushing for titles why risk it – it would reduce your physical capabilities.

UFC 183: Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz fail post-fight drug screens

Silva is not the first to go positive for Steriods in UFC but he is the biggest name thus far.

There have been a stack well known fighters over the years – Bonner, Gracie, Leben and Shamrock come to mind immediatelty.

Not a good look at all – esp for Silva who was the Pound-for-Pound king of the sport.

The UFC will endure – far too big with far too many superstars now. It will not trun people off it at all.

Personally – McGregor fight is the one I am most interested to watch in 2015.

It was a World Class performance. Looking at his Lap Times he siomply went too hard too early and did not pace himself and dropped away in last 10 minutes.

Nick Bensely is doing it at Disc next weekend – he is a full time worker and an amateur cyclist. He has come top 10 at Nationals in the TT so should be interesting to see how an amatuer goes.

Wiggins will go 54kmhr.

Cycling's hour record claims a new victim

This was an amazing race – the wind and course really mixed things up nicely.

A real race of truth at the nationals this January

With so many in-team doping violations it is hard not to begin to form that view that it is systemic within the team.

These are not one-off isolated incidents.

Thanksfully they are being busted – shows that the testing regime is finally catching up.

Groundhog Day at Astana HQ: Vinokourov to star in classic comedy remake

AAC will play 13. Folau will play 15. Beale will be on the bench unless Cheika carries an extra fwd.

Wallabies hit a new low, but it could be the fire to ignite them

We last peaked in 2003.

Spiro's Rolling Maul: At least Wallabies aren't peaking too early!

I will also add I view Schlek as a very average GC rider.

He was able to launch a couple of attacks on a climb and that was about it.

He was woeful in the Time Trial discpline and to be a quality GC rider that is a must.

Andy Schleck: A grand loss to cycling

Has anyone watched Anthony Joshua?

He is a British heavyweight – he won Olympic Gold in London.

He is 10-0. no one has survived more than 3 rounds with him. He has a ways to go but he looks like the next World Heavyweight champion.

Is the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight still relevant?

I am unsure where your expectations generate but they the coach took a team 3 days before they left for Europe – he also did not select the team.

He has his style – which has been proven to turn teams around even when they had star studded squads into respective conference champions. He did not turn Leinster or Tahs around in 3 or 4 games – such is the nature of the beast. It takes times for players to adapt to new structure and patterns.

The performance agaisnt Ireland was a much improved one. Mentally the team looked much tougher and defensively we also looked more co-ordinated.

What was your expectation of this tour – that we just show up and beat everyone? Wake up.

Ireland very good, but the Wallabies not half bad, either...

I would have loved to have seen when both really where at the top of their game – about 3-4 years ago.

I think Floyd has aged better than Pacman and is still a bit sharper.

I cannot agree with the Greatest attack in modern cycling.

Boonen’s 55km solo attack at PR in 2012 is by far the most dominant and I doubt amny would disagree.

He rode his team mate off his wheel and put substantial time into everyone.

Everyone that lines up at PR wants to win – they put it all on the line for that one day. Whereas in a GC a lot of riders will just sit in on days and conserve or simply target the next day.

Andy Schleck: A grand loss to cycling

Well this is not motivating me to have a crack!

Sounds a lot like Kew Blvd TT – just twice as long and it has to be tackled in summer and the afternoon rather than winter and in the morning.

Avenue of honour is what I was hoping for – nice and flat where you can really wind the Rigs up on.

BB lads Strong enough to win it.

Weather was not ideal but I am told the MCL was a smashing success.

Ain't it a fine time to be on a bike?

Tommy Leaper is a monster.

Who else do they have in?

You raise a good point – post game Cheika looked like one the lads congratulating and embracing his players.

He knows man management

Patience won in Cardiff, and plenty will be needed in Paris

Agreed mate. I meant in reference to the scrum.

Their general work rate has been very good of late.

David Kelly, Stephen Lane and Tyson Chambers are the top three.

Hard to see anyone beating them.

Horwill deserves to start and fits right into Cheika’s mould of locks that like to carry a lot. Jacques did it superbly for the Tahs in S15.

Cheika likes big ball carrying forwards. Carter has had some decent carries this year but he is still in his first year of Test football so the small percentages will improve for him (he tends to get stripped a bit).

The Back 5 do need to start doing a lot more work.

Cheika talks about exciting expansive rugby and that is the game he loves to play but what he really does first up is he has a monster forward pack that knuckles over the advantage line to then set the running rugby up.

The Tahs pack was massive at ~900kg (noting Hooper was by far the smallest) and very agressive in their approach. Expect the same from the Wallabies in time.

I hope Cheika finds ways to get the most out of the likes of Big Kev. He was a stand out player when his form was good.

Apologies – topped the amount of ball carries at 120.

His run metres are very high as well as he returns a lot of kicks.

If layered over several years then Savea but based on 2014 Vermulen has had a stand out seaosn.

All Blacks and Springboks dominate award nominations

Hit North road this morning – no shortage of people out ripping (and cruising) along.

A few of the TTT teams for Melb Cycle League also out.

Kings Men will absolutely own that one on Sunday given a few star recruits brought in.
