Wiggins will decimate it – he has the track nouse and the engine.

Cometh the hour, but for a short time only

I don’t like Mundine as a personality – always playing the race card and that he is downtrodden by people when he created the persona himself and is worth millions – but credit where credit is due.

Mundine beats Rabchenko in split decision

Duane Vermeulen was behind a beaten pack and team in the Super Rugby but had more metres carried than any other player in the entire comp which tells you something. He was also right up there in tackles made.

His Super Rugby form in short was excellent.

He also thouroughly outplayed Read when they went head to head.

He is the clear stand out for me. Everyone else is a distant second.

All Blacks and Springboks dominate award nominations

It is tough – especially when the weather is like it was today but the KICKR allows you to nail your FTP %s by an exact amount.

I do get an hour easy on a Friday – and a long roll to Sorrento and back Sunday which should be ‘Mint’ as a mate likes to say.

The Melb Cycling League Kermesse will be great.

I am saving my bikkies for SKCC Super Crit.

Ain't it a fine time to be on a bike?

Tim,

Spot on – quality time of year for riding.

I was out with Gerro last Friday and for anyoen that is able to ride ‘Pro Hours’ over the next few months on Beach road, Nongs or KL you will def see plenty of top level Pros out cruising along.

Hendo is a mate and helped get me going again after rehab so looking fwd to having him back.

Unfortunately Nationals is also coming up so a lot of time on the Trainer cranking Ergo’s.

The Wallabies did play poorly when looking at the game overall.

I caveat this with the notion that the patterns need time to be properly implemented under pressure.

Cheika is a smart guy and if things are not working or he is wrong – he will say so and adjust.

He will bring a real edge to the team in their physicality and mental intensity.

The angled runs with the off load is very effective if you are accurate in the execution – it creates a lot of holes and opens teams up when it works.

The Wallabies take three steps backwards

They are great odds.

1-13 or 14+ would be great value

Nightmare in Paris motivates the Wallabies

No replacements in the starting 15 for France.

Foley boots the Wallabies home against Wales

I agree – I like how Cheika carries himself.

The kick off was a positive step and shows intent – the Wallabies want the ball.

Some things will take time – like the increase in defensive aggression and the system required to execute and also how Cheika wants the Wallabies to engage in the contact zone with the ball in hand.

Two huge games this weekend. Lets go Wallabies.

I already like what I see from the Cheika Wallabies

You know what you get with Toomua, really solid in defence and good distributor.

I suspect he wants to see what Cooper can add at the end of a game and how he can be used as a bench player for impact.

I could think Cooper would open a game up a lot more than Toomua would – especially against tired players.

Toomua, for me anyways, is a guy you start or you don’t have in your 23. He is a steady player and not an impact player.

Sean McMahon named for Wallabies debut against Wales

Agreed on CL – he played so well against NZ and again when he came on against Ba Bas.

Speight struggled in defence and is only relatively new to the set up so they will integrate him in over time I think.

I thought horne had a big game agaisnt Ba Bas and deserved to start as Tomane’s hands and position can let him down – he had a few issues against NZ.

McMahon def deserves to start. He will really rip in.

Fardy is out injured and not Touring.

McMahon is quite good at the breakdown.

Hodgson would be the best off the back rowers at pilfers.

Wallabies and Cheika are focused on the rugby

Thanks Sean – I have Mark O’Brien coaching me so no hiding and no excuses.

Doing lots of Ergo’s.

Gerro flies up it – tough little climb.

Fingers crossed it is Avenue of Honour with a big tail wind to push me home.

Jayco-Herald Sun Tour offers what the Tour Down Under can't

Heartbraking watching the horse collapse

Melbourne Cup 2014: Who came last and why

I got the great pleasure of riding up Arthurs with Gerro on Friday just gone. Quality gent. Such a selfless rider as well. Tactically they set Clarke up for the win at Sun tour.

Nationals – another day of pure pain in the TT to come. Waiting on the course profile – hoping it is kinder than last year.

Jayco-Herald Sun Tour offers what the Tour Down Under can't

I completely agree – I thought he had an excellent game against the ABs.

Matt Hodgson to captain Wallabies against the Barbarians

Darren,

This is a really issightful article.

I really like how Cheika carries himself – I believe he will be a very successful coach with the Wallabies.

Wallabies coach Cheika fluent in success

Growden was part of the core problem with NSW rugby – he would put players and the team on a pedestal and be stacking the firewood underneath them the whole time.

He was a cookie cutter Journo who blows with the wind.

So thankful he is gone from SMH.

Wallabies coach Cheika fluent in success

White should not be in the match day team – his box kicking and decision making under pressure is poor.

he chirps a lot but this really is a disguise to deflect his own short comings – which I think are considerable.

What can we expect from the Cheika led Wallabies?

No – I doubt that will change but with Horwill likely heading OS my understanding is there will be adequate room for Douglas.

Even if there wasn’t and you looked at your squad – would you take Douglas over say a Beale – I certainly would not.

Tough, hard working second rowers are what builds the platform for the backs. We have a wealth of great backs but don’t have that many battle hardened locks.

What can we expect from the Cheika led Wallabies?

I actually thought Lelifano was exceptional at 12 for the Wallabies against the All Blacks.

His defence was excellent and his distribution was great – he has a very good partnership with Tevita. They are my Wallaby centre first choice options.

Bring Beale in later on in the game when the legs are tired.

Nothing in rugby is ever clear cut

Always a concise and accurate analysis Scott.

I doubt we will see much change initially.

The biggest changes will take some time and I believe those will be the fitness and agression of the forwards.

One of the first players Cheika will likely engage to return is Kane Douglas – he might not be flashy like Beale but he is tough and hard working.

I also thought Lelifano had his best game in gold against the All Blacks – i think he adds an extra dimension than what Toomua does

What can we expect from the Cheika led Wallabies?

Really looking forward to the team getting on the field and actually playing some Rugby so we can all move on.

The Tour could not have come at a better time – allow the players and coach to get away and get to know one another and play some rugby.

Beale not being called up seems to be the right call for him and the squad based on what Cheika has said.

SPIRO: The ARU-Beale crisis 3 - Cheika-mate is the winner

I though Lelifano had one of his best games in gold last weekend – he added an extra dimension than Toomua and should retain his spot.

Nic White should have a good look at the replay – he really cost the team – he went into his shell in the last 3 minutes, reverted to type, and gave the ABs every chance to win the test. No more box kicking – it is aimless and costly.

You can’t go into defensive mode against the AB’s – the Wallabies should have been thinking we need to move into attacking range and try to score points. Not close the game down.

Cheika will cut this kind of mentality down over time.

Cheika has tough decisions to make in the Wallabies backline

2 excllent points.

Cheika will be an exceptional coach. He is a straight shooter. He turned the playboy attitude of the Waratahs into a blue collar, hard working team that had the engines to push teams a full 80 minutes.

The Stats for the Tahs – in the space of 2 seasons are compelling – they topped just about every key stat. Most Tries, limited kicking, most bonus points, top 3 defence.

Whilst the attacking rugby was excellent – Cheika knows that in roder to do that you must win up front. The tahs pack had real edge this year – watch the Sharks game. When was the last time you watched a Aust pack go out and white knuckle it. They did it against the chiefs in the regular season as well.

One player on Cheika’s radar has to be Kane Douglas.
