Let the Yanks have it: why Aussies should boycott the Super Bowl

Yeah, like performance enhancing drugs aren’t rife throughout Australian sport SMH.

Let the Yanks have it: why Aussies should boycott the Super Bowl

I followed the entire NFL season living in Australia and supported my Detroit Lions all the way until their final game. Once the Super Bowl came around, of course I would be excited to see who comes out on top. You just come across as a jaded Aussie who hates that Americans have the capability to do things bigger and better than us.

I definitely think Andy needs to be traded. He’s not getting any younger, so the Cavs wont be able to use him once they start getting further up in the standings and become an actual threat. I’d like to see Varajeo be traded to one of the teams who are competing for a championship right now.

Does Vaerjao need to be traded from Cleveland?

He’s going to be way over paid because they won a Super Bowl, when there are much better Quarter Backs out there who deserve much more money than him.

Super Bowl MVP Flacco eyes new contract

I’m not liking that the Superbowl MVP has become a Quarter Back’s medal.

Baltimore QB Joe Flacco Super Bowl MVP

All Franklin and his management are doing by putting it out that they aren’t talking until the end of the season is getting Buddy’s price at Hawthorn to go up and up. And can you blame him? Cloke did the exact same thing last year and now he gets paid way more than he’s worth.

Leave Buddy alone!

It was absolutely amazing to watch the fight back from Kaepernick and the 49’ers after the power out. I actually thought at the time that the Ravens seemed to be sitting around doing nothing while the 49’ers kept moving around trying to stay warmed up and I guess it showed. San Francisco were a little unlucky that a hold wasn’t called on their last throw of the game but ravens deserved the win none the less.

I’ve been saying all a long that rotation helps create depth for Australia. If Pattinson or Siddle break down again we know other players can step in and play a role.

Rotation policy showcasing Australia's enviable depth

Toronto lose in this trade. I can almost guarantee that Rudy Gay will look to get out of their as soon as possible, nobody wants to stay in Canada. I’m sad to see Tayshaun leave after being such a great performer for the Pistons but Jose coming in I’m really excited for the future. A team that looks like:
Knight PG
Stuckey SG
Monroe C
Singler SF
Maxiell PF

With Caulderon as sixth man this team is looking very bright.

The Gay trade is a happy one for all

Boxing gets fixed when Mundine goes away

EXCLUSIVE: Anthony Mundine on how he’d fix Australian boxing

There is so much ignorance in Australia about NFL. I always see people talking about how they wear pads, if AFL players hit as hard as they did in the NFL they would need pads.

Why bother with the Super Bowl?

Exactly my point. Every country rotates players.

Modernisation has its place in cricket, but at what cost?

India are a rabble at the moment. Australia should be able to take this series with ease.

What are Australia's chances in India?

@Nick

Well I just looked at South Africa’s most recent ODI team against New Zealand and I counted 5 of their top test players; Smith, du Plessis, Kleinveldt(Not really top but whatever), Robin Peterson and Morkel. Also, from what I’m seeing from England they have about 6 or 7 depending on the game, so yes 5 is about right.

Modernisation has its place in cricket, but at what cost?

I don’t like Rondo (He flops far too much for my liking), but I must admit it is sad to see such a great young talent succumb to a horrible injury.

Celtics beat Heat but lose Rondo for year

Chris Rogers should be nowhere near a test team. He was almost as bad as Quiney when he got his opportunity.

Chris Rogers and Steve O'Keefe deserve to go to India

Warne isn’t the best example. He plodded in to bowl spin which is much less taxing than steaming in like Peter Siddle. You notice how the people mainly being rested are Pace bowlers? It’s because of the impact involved in bowling pace and how far and hard they have to run while doing this.

So who plays cricket for Australia these days?

Australian should play the 11 best overall players in the test side, the 11 best one day players for the ODI’s and the eleven best T20 players in T20 matches. Just because someone is a good Test bowler, does not mean they will be successful in the short form.

So who plays cricket for Australia these days?

I always like to point out to idiots who complain about the “rotation policy” in Australia that England and South Africa(Two of the best teams in the world) almost NEVER play their eleven best players all the time. If you watch any international one day game you will see maybe 4 or 5 of the countries best overall players while the rest of the team is filled with the countries best one day players.

Modernisation has its place in cricket, but at what cost?

Being someone who actually follows the NFL in Australia, it does get very frustrating when people jump on the Super Bowl bandwagon and act like they know the sport. At least this article can give those people something to talk about while they pretend to be interested in the sport.

Your Super Bowl 2013 cheat sheet

Definitely a rarity for an Aussie NBA fan to stick with a struggling team, Nick. All of my NBA loving friends switch to teams well over .500 when the team they are following starts to struggle. Detroit have a great culture around them and great pieces to build a team out of and I couldn’t even think of defecting loyalties to someone else.

Five simple steps to improve the Pistons

I do believe that they only need a small forward. Drummond in all honestly would be close to rookie of the year, probably only behind Lillard and Singler can only get better. Couple that with Knight and Monroe improving and some consistency from Stuckey off the pine and this team could in a few years be a contender. Sure, another high end draft pick would be great, and the Pistons will probably get it (Let’s face it, they wont make 8th seed) but it’s not like there is a really amazing Small Forward that will go into the next draft that the Pistons would sorely miss if they did make a playoff appearance.

In my opinion the team is sitting at 0.372 right now, not because of a lack of talent, but because it has struggled to hold onto games in the fourth, something that comes from youth. Multiple times the Pistons have thrown away double digit leads late in the game because of inexperience. Adding even more youth isn’t going to improve that.

Five simple steps to improve the Pistons

Mushi, Pushing to be 8th seed would give them some real confidence moving into the future. Sure, getting a lottery pick would be nice but I think the Pistons have enough pieces to build around right now, with players like Singler and Drummond finding their way and Knight & Monroe continuing to improve I think they should be pushing to finish as high as they can. To be honest the only thing they would need out of the draft would be a Small Forward that could replace Prince once he is gone.

Great point about Nathan Lyon. He is definitely underrated, not only around the world but also here in Australia. I’m pretty sure Lyon was one of the highest wicket takers in the South African series, he actually might have been second on that list only to Morkel so he must not be too bad.
