I just dont think people are giving Hiroyuki Sukai enough credit here… We now have a new iron chef world champion!!

Suns and Giants just not needed in the AFL

You’re being a bit harsh DB Swannie in pointing out that the iron chef got 67K, last night Hiroyuki Sukai came through in a clutch performance to become new iron chef world champion… How is the AFL supposed to compete with that..? Seriously??

I agree Oikee well said! 🙂

Israel Folau: Izzy a flop?

Dingo – Should that be “Dingbat”. Just because I dont drink at the moment doesnt mean I havent before..!
Horse urine is quote the drop, usually reserved for a long sunday session out on the farm with my sister/wife watching the afl.

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

Ill tell you what though Melbourne is one of the nicest Beta+ cities going around 🙂

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

I might have exagerated my loathing for the point of my post FU as I too enjoy parts of melbourne and Vic. I also enjoy Sydney and parts of Nsw.

Its just that Sydneysiders love a good bashing of Sydney (whether rightly or wrongly) and Melbourne peeps gush everytime the city is mentioned. Lets just all take a big breath and realise that the world is a big place… Now Vancover, there is a city… 🙂

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

I dont even drink alcohol – I just hate the class bashing that goes on in AUS considering that we are all convicts originally. Fosters is a loved brand of Australia but it tastes like horse urine…?

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

Another insightful posting “fool”. Really wondering where you get your material from? How is it you believe that the media control everything and that AFL’s success is a Fait accompli in the NSW/QLD markets?
You wouldn’t have read that on the internet somewhere would you?!?

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

Come down of your ivory tower “fool”… Whats wrong with VB?

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

I wouldnt say sad Paddyboy… I only found out today that we have one of the highest participation rates for sport here in Sydney, I would rather be out playing it then watching it whether that be on TV or live.

People give sydney a hard time for not going to the games but really Sydney only cops it because we are being judged against the afl which as their supporters will tell you relentlessly “afl has one of the best attendance records globally’.

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

Melbourne would be the first place I would want to live if I had never left the country. Its the most secular, insecure, overrated place in the world.

Sydney has more to it than sport that is why our crowds are smaller than the afl’s average. Im terms of world averages I dont think Sydney’s crowds are that bad, its only because people keep comparing them to the afl’s.

Also will point out that generally games are played at smaller suburban grounds, my home ground is “sold out” at 19.5K…

Sydney, why are your sporting crowds so poor?

The swans have a strong supporter base of expats from VIC/WA/SA who have adopted the swans as their local team.

NRL needs to hit back hard at AFL expansion

Can I see a link to the quote that the storm is losing 6 million a year? Or is that just a number thats thrown around in afl circles?

NRL needs to hit back hard at AFL expansion

Can I get a link to those facts Redb? Does it matter what race they are? Is the afl going down the white supremecy pathway of code glory?

You both make a viable point; the perception outside of the keys markets is vital to success early on.
I think that the AFL have approached it the wrong way (my personal opinion), it feels fake or like a marketing exercise. Even though western Sydney demographically are statistically not as educated and financially worse off than inner city they are used to being treated like idiots and can spot a fake a mile away.
I don’t think they have done a good job of connecting with the local market. It feels like a new restaurant has come to town and said “all the food you’ve had up until now is crap, only eat with us from now on”.
Hopefully when the NRL expands it will have a different approach as having bid teams vying for the new franchises should help to create a grassroots feel to the campaign in much the same way the Titans did.

Some people see the cup as half empty. Some people see the cup as half full. Perception is vital in the southern markets to NRL’s expansion just as it is to the northern markets for the AFL’s expansion.
The perception for the AFL is not great outside of it current markets regardless of what the stats gurus will try and tell you. As someone who lives in western Sydney I will tell you that the AFL is regarded as a bit of a joke and a little arrogant. But I digress…
I’m sure that the NRL will “survive” (LOL) as the main shareholder of the sports markets in the two most populous states of AU. The NRL will expand in due time with well thought out bids that will support growth across the game.

Poor redb = internet is upsetting…

You could always log off?

Demetriou calls the kettle black

Take away the contact and you end up with afl… really lets just leave it the way it is. If we keep going in 20 years there will be no sports with any contact and what a shame that will be.

Empty benches as NRL season starts to heat up

As a Supercoach freak (I finished 5th out of 120,000 last year in the DT NRL SC) I can tell you that a lot and I would say up to 40% would be duplicate accounts. A lot of people open up 2/3/4/5 accounts and have a crack at the money on offer…

Is AFL at Tipping Point or Saturation Point?

Heres a suggestion: Harden up!

A simple solution to solve the gang tackle problem

Best ever monday night crowd is around 31-32K I believe.. FYI

Based on round one, should we buy or sell?

Its a positive story that NRL has had a record breaking crowd. Some people like to only hear negative stories about NRL hence “Brendans” comment.

P.s 🙂

The good, the bad and the ugly from NRL round one

Back to the kiddies pool Willy, youre out of your depth…

Queensland should come first for NRL expansion

Seriously? Jump on and read or bugger off, Is that all I get?
