Tnx Chris

After all u inspired me with your new “vision”. Are you secretly in “the know” on what Nine might have planned. Sounds like something that would appeal to Gyngell – Reality League – even like the Title.

Cheers Jeff

League does seem to be sufering at market coverage level – still being East Coast bound and the way Nine “doles out” TV coverage is very poor & totally at their agenda (Pay TV is their shared baby with Foxtel & Telstra) and they don’t want to hurt that cash cow now do they!

Now the NRL want to get Perth back in again, which is a great re-start. But it’s a bit like deju-vu all over again … Remember their last great expansion “vision”. It started to implode on them when they took on these AFL strongholds. So what do they do – not try and support the 5 year plan to develop in WA & SA. Oh no, we can’t cop it in the throat from these established AFL states. Gee we didn’t expect that did we …

The day that they canned the WA Reds and the SA Rams was one of the big negatives in expansion of our game. Esp. the Rams which had a fair following and Rocket Reddy was making them reasonalbly competitive. League has been dogged by short-term, profit-driven decision making which is to its long term detriment and that’s reflective of the decision makers that drive League.

However I think Gallop is still the man to lead us to the promised land. He is reasonably genuine and as long as he (& the NRL) don’t swallow Nine’s new perversion of the game and is not led by the nose into copping their “game plan” of diluted coverage – all of us true-blue fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
