So our fearless leaders (FFA) in their infinite wisdom have imposed a $50000 fine and suspended sentence (docking of points) on the Wanderers. This now raises the question: What exactly was this supposed to achieve?

Answer: It has achieved nothing other than filling the FFA’s coffers and imposing misery on the genuine WSW football club and fans.

Why you now ask? The Melbourne derby had more flares and crowd incidents. The FFA’s response…..nada, zilch! It appears that the administrators are even more intellectually challenged than the boneheads ripping the flares.

WATCH: Popovic reacts to FFA sanctions

Good point AZ_RBB. Will nominate you for CEO of the FFA. Perhaps Gallop will find his calling at the table tennis or snooker and use his finely honed disciplinary “skills” on the unruly flare and detonator weilding crowds they attract there. 😉

Wanderers guilty: Fined $50,000 and docked three competition points

The ffa rules state that anyone in the home stadium/away section are considered a supporter and the relevant club is responsible unless it can be proven they are not a supporter of that club.

Herein lies the problem. More of these “convenient” idiotic FFA rules. A non member can buy tickets in the supporter’s bay at an away venue and these individuals can be anyone from ISIS , Al Queada or another code seeking to disrupt a game and….presto…..they automatically qualify as a supporter and the club is held responsible!!!!!

Absolutely brilliant!

FFA must dock the Wanderers competition points

Do not agree with this decision. Typical FFA shortsightedness to sanction a club that HAS NO control over this minority element of boneheads that continue to create issues at football games.

Did the Wanderers football club actively engage this group of knuckleheads to behave like morons and cause disruption? No. The fact that they were non members situated in the supporter’s bay at an away venue in which the club has no control is a very difficult scenario to manage. It IS an away venue and NOT Pirtek stadium.

Where was the security at this venue to screen this group and relieve them of flares and railway detonators? The FFA pay security companies large amounts to provide a service…..where is it?

And how, pray tell, is a fine and docking the WSW three competition points going to prevent further incidents? Really idiotic decision but we can expect nothing less from Gallop who is past his use by date in the role. This is the CEO that manages to upset fans with his “tunnel vision” decisions and lack of reasoning ……..here is evidence of more of the same. Get rid of Gallop……quickly!!!!

I have to admit that not only referees make howlers but the choice of Stebre as referee has to be an even bigger howler than the howlers that Stebre has made. It is clear that these selections were made after the completion of an exhausting pub crawl by the panel 😛

Del Piero riding the pine in PFA's A-League team of decade

Cannot argue with those predictions-pretty much the teams I believe will go through. The venue change to Adelaide Oval (larger crowd) should favour the Reds along with their Carrusca laden midfield. Phoenix mucked it up against Sydney FC by missing a penalty and allowing the sky blues to take the game. There will be no such mistake this time around with the Phoenix keen to make amends in front of their home crowd.
Then again, this is sudden death and these will be gripping contests-look forward to egg or no egg all over my face 😛

A-League Finals Week 1: Preview and predictions

Congrats to the Victory! They have been the standout team all season and have asserted themselves when it mattered. ( I am a neutral btw) Beware of an Arnold coached team in second spot though as two seasons ago he secured the unthinkable by beating a rampant WSW with his Mariners! Final series will be worth following.

Fit Melbourne Victory out to take next step

My information is this: If I were to have had a bet on either WSW or the Jets taking the wooden spoon and then the unforeseen happens -Glory is consigned to the bottom. Guess what? I am entitled to a refund of my money. So that means all the wagers placed on either the Jets or WSW are refunded. Your assertion is incorrect.

[Highlights] Glory defy wild weather in A-League

It is indicative of the influence the gambling industry has on our game. When Gallop was with the NRL and the Bulldogs saga surfaced, they were consigned to last place on the table. Now with the FFA and faced with a similar scandal, Gallop should have consigned Glory to last place but lo and behold (to the detriment of the teams below Glory who did not cheat) they are in 7th. Now if Glory had gone to bottom the gambling industry would have to have paid out big time due to an “unforeseen” as the betting was becoming interesting as to who would get the wooden spoon. This way they get to keep some money!

“…..you yourself have been also preaching your knowledge and saying I am a realist and predictions you make have been at the lower end or below the expectations of where Football is going….” Now, now Mid…..falling into the “F” category are we. This is in reference to your FTA article is it and that the HAL is ready to go to FTA NOW! A lot of other commenters (not just me) stated exactly the same thing -we are simply not ready now. I went on to state that the ABC has the format suitable for screening some selected HAL and FFA Cup games and I hope this comes to fruition. So, according to your viewpoint, my opinions are the lower end of the scale. I am a realist not a dreamer.

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

“Nothing like what I have made him out to be…!” Well to this I say he has managed that all by himself -he made his “nest” now he has to sleep in it. “Extreme reaction” another says. I did not make this personal to start out with, the “F” managed that as he usually does. I was purely making my comments without getting personal and I had another commenter “re-assure me” not to take it personally as the “F” had the reputation of being this thread’s censor!

Langou suggests the the “F” was banned from this thread- this does not surprise me in the slightest. And as for your defence of “F” I just simply say continue to “defend the indefensible”.

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

Are there really any more surprises that this inept, corrupt organisation, that is the world governing body for our game, can come up with? The audacious, breathtakingly inept decision making continues- and why not? They are squirreling away the millions as a result of their highly lucrative “bidding process” only to weather the controversy after wave upon wave of valid criticism is stoically defended by “the old boys club”. Honestly…..the gig is so good that “Septic” Blatter wants a fifth term of this?

FIFA show their cards: Qatar or bust

You might say HMMMMMM but I say this. The “F” has taken it upon himself to be the censor in this thread for the supposed “sokkah” pretend fans -of which I am not. Upon embarking on my comments he decided (without research or reason) to launch into a personal attack. I express an opinion only and do not get personal nor do I make incorrect assumptions about commenters. He is NOT a moderator NOR does he carry exclusive license to personally attack everyone that comments on this thread!

So to you Mid and now punter…whilst I am a relative newcomer (relative to what I do not know) you should both get some perspective.

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

No offence Mid- you know what the “F” is like so don’t give me the hurry up.

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

It is well known that “F” has taken issue to many commenters who supposedly are pretend “sokkah” fans. Well I am not nor do I post on any other threads in the Roar. What I received, however, was a reception from the “F” who had not even researched who I was and was subjected to heavily opinionated ramblings. He had better learn to “pull his head in”

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

” a touch hypocritical after criticising others” is putting it mildly. Try heavily criticising and overly opinionated-closer to the mark. Should change the text in your image to “…and like that, just GO “

Where are you Josh? Your comments are required 🙂

Football fans call it passion, but it's just thuggery

AZ. As you would know that most Wanderers fans are good natured and can take the jibes from opposing fans with good humour. It just so happens that 4 Sydney FC fans decide to run the gauntlet of an establishment favouring the Wanderers supporters- and with alcohol involved. IMO something was said, there was a reaction and hey presto -an incident. Something we do not need by the way-bad publicity. Then the struggling writer above decides it is newsworthy and warrants authoring an article over one incident! Indeed -struggling!

Football fans call it passion, but it's just thuggery

The facts are these according to the police report. The altercation occurred just before 9:30 Sunday night. It was reported Monday. If it were that serious it should have been reported same day. Secondly, the incident happened on the intersection of Argyle and Church Streets Parramatta (the police station is not far from there). I am not for one minute condoning voilence but there are more questions than answers with this one.

Football fans call it passion, but it's just thuggery

Better still..stay away….I have a long memory when it comes to your opinionated ramblings.

A-League: Who's going to the finals, and who's missing out

Well..at least I have a roof. You can crawl into your hole now.

Football fans call it passion, but it's just thuggery

The police report cites the altercation as taking place at the intersection of Aygyle & Church Streets, Parramatta. It raises some serious questions here. It was reported to police on Monday! Why a day late? if it was that serious why not report it THAT day? Secondly, the police state the altercation was between 20 Wanderers supporters and 4 Sydney FC fans. So not even the facts are straight on this in the article.Thirdly, why why would 4 Sydney FC supporters stray near the vicinity of the Woolpack Hotel , a well known watering hole favouring WSW supporters ONLY.

More questions than answers. The writer is indeed -struggling!

Football fans call it passion, but it's just thuggery

Nonsense article -one incident of which the facts are vague at best. Did the hapless 3 Sydney FC supporters just happen to “wander” into the path of the 30 Wanderers supporter’s – I would call that either sheer stupidity or bravery beyond explanation if it were true. I am not condoning violence but you have ask some serious questions about this incident AND its newsworthiness. Why write a nonsense article about the Sydney derby (which just happens to be the most popular A League fixture in Sydney) ? Talk about putting the boot in!

I noticed an NRL game last season where the Cronulla Sharks football team (yes the whole team) had to run the gauntlet through a carpark and irate opposition fans hurling abuse and other items at them. Was this widely reported? No way. The Sydney derby is indeed a passionate affair between two sets of teams and fanbases most of whom are good natured. Yet this writer has to troll around for an “incident” to suddenly say -hey look here guys some thuggery going on”!

Be a responsible journalist for once and find something interesting to write about. You are indeed -struggling! (S T Ruggling)

Unfortunately Jerrad Tyson is no longer with the Wanderers so it will be up to Bouzanis if and when Ante decides he has had enough of what is already a very distinguished career.

Sydney beat Wanderers in heated derby

Yes. I have decided that the Ghangzhou Evergrande team bus will look and perform much better on bricks (hey….this is Western Sydney!) than on wheels. Much better fuel economy too! 😛
