Nic, I don’t believe the Wallabies can/will unravel Wales’ attacking, defensive or kicking web! I do believe that Wales/Ireland can win the BIG WEbb!

How will the Wallabies unravel Warren Gatland’s Welsh web?

Bengaluru…beautiful city (Bangalore Palace). Gilchrist, one of the best and nicest!!

Gilchrist: Smith may change batting forever

Chill out bud, I stated that the selectors would most likely go with the standard 6,1,4 format. It would be completely left field if they dropped Paine.

The final dilemma for Manchester: Peter Siddle or Matt Wade?

Yes, having the extra bowler will strengthen the attack and provide cover for Starc if he too loose. BUT……I am having little tingles that this pitch just could be handmade for Wade!! If I was selecting, I would take the “risk” and go with 5 bowlers in this Test. 🏏

Serious Q. Were these players selected in the games against Wales and Ireland in the recent 6N?

Have England come good for the Rugby World Cup just in the nick of time?

This match probably comes down to two players…S. Smith and B. Stokes. The former may/probably adapt to the line of Archer but will he be mentally/psychologically ‘fit’? If he is both, then AUS will win this Test and the Ashes. If Stokes maintains his incredible WC/Test form that sustains and feeds confidence in his team mates, the pendulum will swing toward ENG. If both players are superb, maybe we are looking at a draw? I have a feeling that some players such as Wade, may surprise. 🏏

The Ashes: England vs Australia, fourth Test preview, prediction

Yes, Glenn, I think his time has come 🏏

Has Usman Khawaja played his last Test?

“Fidji”? Is that near Isle of Man 😊

Have England come good for the Rugby World Cup just in the nick of time?

I like the ‘safety net’ of the extra bowler. And, given Wade’s low scores in the series so far (apart from the ton), the risk might be worth it. However, AUS selectors/cricket pundits etc are notoriously conservative and blinkered when it comes to taking chances. They have almost always rigidly stuck to 6 bats, 1 WK and 4 bowlers. One left-field option might be to use 5 bowlers, make Wade the WK and drop T. Paine…….but, little/0 chance 😔 🏏

If their players remain healthy, I still believe that Wales or Ireland can/will take home the World Cup 🏉

My bad. Must have conflated his WC tons with his valuable 60 odd runs in that 2nd innings.

Usman Khawaja axed for fourth Ashes Test

😁 …”coach speak” 🏏

Usman Khawaja axed for fourth Ashes Test

“The same grit the current Australian team need to discover if they are to retain the Ashes at Old Trafford this week.”. Exactly 🏏

Waugh returns to summon spirit of Old Trafford

Yes, you may be right (re Usi) 🏏

Usman Khawaja axed for fourth Ashes Test

I am sure that S. Waugh’s presence would be inspirational. It’s déjà vu with former ‘greats’…Waugh, Ponting, Haddin, current coach etc making appearances 🏏

Waugh returns to summon spirit of Old Trafford

Yes, a little surprising, esp. since Usi has made SOME runs, unlike Warner and Wade (their tons seem to have been aberrations, so far) 🏏

Usman Khawaja axed for fourth Ashes Test

“… what happens if we lose the 4th test and either Warner, Harris or Wade fail again,..”. Yes, a conundrum, largely self-inflicted b/c of their restricted touring squad 🏏

Looks a balanced lineup….I’m guessing that Starc will get the nod over Siddle. M. Wade must be relieved 🏏

Sorry about photo bombing this thread, but our team had a nice win last night 😁 https://twitter.com/espn/status/1168002976289443846?s=20

The five best Test innings versus Australia

From T. Hohns’ recent comments, it sounds as if the selectors are considering Usi as opening w/ Warner and possibly M.Marsh to replace Wade. This would suggest that S. Smith would come into the team as a replacement for Harris. I have no idea about the bowling lineup but there seems to be increased ‘talk’ about Starc having a role. 🏏

Khawaja and Harris post 50s in Ashes shoot-out

do you mean S. Smith for Usi since Labu is already in the team? 🏏

Khawaja and Harris post 50s in Ashes shoot-out

As we are all assuming that S. Smith will be returning for the 4th Test, I wonder how he is psychologically recovering from his neck injury? His curious behavior/performance in the recent Derbyshire match suggests at least a lack of attention to the task (https://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/109654/the-joy-of-watching-a-steve-smith-net-session). The Cricbuzz report implied that Smith preferred the net practice to his time at the crease. 🏏

Khawaja and Harris post 50s in Ashes shoot-out

Possibly Smith for Wade? And/Or, Smith for Bancroft and then M. Marsh for Wade. Then have Khawaja open with Warner as you suggest. Not sure where Harris would bat 🏏

well, overall, everyone made runs exc. Wade: And, M. Marsh top scoring with 74, to further confuse the issue 😔
