I'm an Australian of Argentinian background, so I have passion in plenty and wear my hear on my sleeve. I'm a futbol purist, Pep Guardiola-esc.But I also love and appreciate the simple things, like training in the rain.

Ok I See where your coming from now.

Very good Huyan. VERY GOOD!.

Six years on, Japan has progressed past Australia

Clayton do you really believe we cannot qualify for every world cup? I think that is setting the bar low. We are good enough to. We should be comparing ourselves with and trying to follow Japan. Its the only way to improve. Accepting mediocrity sees us backwards. If we don’t qualify at the expense of a Jordan, that would be mediocre.

Exactly right Stevo. Enough skill and experience there to beat Jordan. If any team in the world played exactly according to their manager then no one would ever lose. If they aren’t following instructions, for 5, 10 or 90 minutes, then the coaching is not successful. Ange Postecoglu said it perfectly in his summary of the match after Holger had his spray. The players performance is a reflection of the coaches preparation of them for the match, and for the match( i.e. opposition and tactics).

Ftalks back to the topic. Socceroos. Not England or Argentina. They’re excuses. We were severely outplayed, could have been 7-0. If you want to talk score lines we can talk Jordan. Conveniently some people watch more than scorelines.
In all, I’m not a fan of Holger. That’s all. You don’t have to agree.

Good point about the starting lineup v Japan Daniel. And i accept your views. But I when that 2006 team got their chances in the national team they weren’t all playing at that high level. For example Emerton started in Holland before the Premier League. Where we have many youngsters at the moment. ie. Holland was, Oar, Zullo. Back then the national team was just as much a chance to show yourself on the world stage as was your club football. We have to look at players on their talent and give them chances, not looking at their resume and current club side. ies. Tommoy Oar and Zullo just as an example, same position as Emerton in a stage of his career. Anyhow, it is too late to throw them in now at a crucial stage of the qualifiers. Thanks for your thoughts though. All valid. Especially Germany, incredible development system. Every Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 Club has a standard of Academy to live up to, and they must cater for all their 10 – 17 yr olds to have a facility that they are free to train at all week to improve their development. thats in excess of 40 development clubs throughout the country. We have…?

Well said Punter. Development needs a serious look at. Unfortunately I think that should have happened before the a league. We started from top to bottom instead of the other way around. But in the end, I am sure we have better structures, and development streams than Jordan. Your right, we can’t stand for results and way the team is playing at the moment. Or else we’ll have a similar experience to when we got to South Africa. 4-0.

That is a fair enough view. I guess we just disagree on the boundaries of loyalty and being a true believer. I feel that we have a lot more to offer, and am also loyal to improving the game beyond where it is being held at the moment. I support Australian Football and the Socceroos, but I don’t support Holger Osieck.

Thanks Jack. I agree. But also agree with Ange Postecoglu’s views after the game that it is too late to make wholesale changes now. Too late to throw youngsters in now in a high pressure situation. I hope that does not happen.
