A Queenslander that bleeds maroon, gold and red... and a little bit of teal. Was at Lang Park for the can throwing, the Gabba for Fatty's catch, and on the couch for everything I can get away with...

Feels like a great shame… it might be outdated notion, but I want the best QLDers playing for QLD, and he would have been a 100 gamer… Clearly this is the new world, but I’m not yet ready to abandon the Giteau Law completely.

Izack Rodda makes French connection after Reds departure

Fantastic stuff… how many times will I watch it between now and July 3rd….? 😁

Rugby Australia's promo for the domestic Super Rugby comp is superb

Dan Ginnane should be the next voice of rugby league…

Are these rugby league's best-ever commentators?

Wondering when “great rugby league mind” Wayne Pearce will mandate every team’s mini-preseason MUST include a day of horse riding…

Craig Bellamy is right - settle down with the ‘innovations’

Of course, but my suggestion actually happened… 😁

New NRL ad is 'simply the best'

Nailed it GH. isnt advertising the perfect place to showcase everything the game stands for…?

New NRL ad is 'simply the best'

To be honest, I liken the kiss to the iconic Provan-Summons photo… two combatants putting their on-field battle aside to embrace after the game. I think it’s great. It’s not political anymore, the plebiscite got passed, remember? Perhaps could only be improved if it was quickly followed by Lewis kissing Langer after scoring at Lang Park… 😛

New NRL ad is 'simply the best'

This Reds fan is feeling a little uneasy about all the support, but I’m hopeful. A big test for Lucas, and hopefully H Wilson can shelve the offloads and stick to the steamrolling for now…

Super Rugby Round 2: second round syndrome

Fair points Drew, but I guess I see Rennie’s comments about form as a way of letting every player know that the slate has been wiped clean. Perform now and you’ll put yourself in the selection frame, even if you never have been before. I’m sure he’s conscious of all the things you’ve raised, and wouldn’t blindly pick on form alone, but as an opening statement to the players I think it is exactly whet needed to be said.

Rennie's Wallabies need success from Australia's Super Rugby teams

Completely agree. They are the best attacking opportunity in the game, with half the players taken out of the game, and more space to attack than at any other time. But it is wasted by taking a hit up every time. I can’t believe teams don’t design more set plays, it’s as close as they’ll come to a 7s type of game, and they refuse to use it. Confuses the hell out of me…

What are scrums good for in rugby league?

Agree Rodda is the next captaincy option. A natural leader in the mould of Horwill. I hope BT gives him the (c) for the Reds so we can see how he goes.

Rugby AU publishes recommendations from 2019 Wallabies review

I lamented the concept of “centre money” a couple of years ago… I get it, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it…

Pick players in their best position, and if you have contributed to the malaise of the last 5 years, you’ve had your shot, we’re moving on. Can’t do any worse than the status quo.

Wallabies selector wanted. How hard can it be?

Rhys, I sit in the same section and am completely embarrassed by the resident windbag… Half the time his admonishments are wrong, and the rest of the time they aren’t funny. Maybe throw one or two per game, not every 5 minutes for the whole contest… He needs to get over himself…

Tales from north-west corner of Suncorp Stadium

Cleared of one, though…

Lucas Browne's shot at redemption

The uptick? A grand final team, that then adds Thurston, Scott and McLean, with Morgan playing in a different league to what he was for most of last season? I see plenty of improvement right there…

Predictions for the 2018 NRL season

I had actually thought it was an option a few years ago, I thought it played to his strengths without burdening him with the responsibility of running the team that sometimes weighed him down.

My issue now is two fold. One – he simply doesn’t have the running in his legs anymore to be a threat with ball in hand. His passing game is still the best in the country, but I’m just not sure he has ever really recovered from his knee troubles, and I want my fullback to have some running in him. And two – I actually think that Thorn needs to dig his heels in. He wouldn’t have released Cooper if there weren’t some serious issues that he didn’t think he could overcome. To call him back now would be a poor message for the squad. But maybe I’m just as stubborn as he is… 🙂

Thorn's big backline calls

The coaches at Wests have said privately that he wouldn’t make the Premier team if he wasn’t Reds contracted…

Thorn's big backline calls

Agree, and wrote something similar earlier in the year…

2015: The sporting year in review

And right at the death, we have a new contender for comment of the year!!!

Mitch Marsh announces himself as genuine pace option

Surely khawaja and burns are locks for the summer, we must have learnt some lessons from the past… So isn’t it a shoot out between marsh and voges? Marsh’s age not so much of a factor in that equation…

What if Shaun Marsh does well in Hobart?

The Big Questions: Rugby World Cup kids edition

Has to be rated the best ever based purely on the style of play and competiveness of the games. Forget the off field stuff. Best ever.

SPIRO: Rugby World Cup was great but not the best ever

I agree the Welsh win has made it tougher for Australia, but I base that on the fact that we have a good record against Wales and a pretty poor one against England over there. If that record continues, and we lose to England but beat Wales, we will be in a situation where bonus points make all the difference. A loss to England this weekend wouldn’t be as do or die if they had beaten the Welsh. Or has the maths got me all tangled up?

Wales' victory makes it tougher for the Wallabies
