The old advantage rule was much better because the umpire had the discretion to bring the ball back if the advantage wasn’t there… this is one instance where the rule should have been left alone because now its rare for the advantage rule to actually be advantageous…

I think you are severely underselling the talent on the Dogs list Tim… it’s common amongst Bulldogs supporters stemming from a mediocre past but some of your language comparing the 2 lists is over the top and absurd.

Sounds like the Bulldogs club doctors have let Liam down and if they didn’t follow correct protocol they deserve to have the book thrown at them. If they did then the AFL should have the book thrown at them. Fingers crossed that Liam’s symptoms get better over time and he gets to lead a normal, pain free life. The Bulldogs wouldn’t have won the flag in 2016 without Picken – he was the player of that finals series.

They are more likely than anyone to push up the ladder and should cement a top 4 spot.
They have addressed specific needs with quality players and lost the only onballer from their group they could afford to lose and got a couple of great draft picks for him.
They shape as one of the teams to beat this year and could and should go all the way.

They have a lot of players to come back into that team… The obvious ones in Keath, English, Bont, Bruce…. and then they have the number 1 and 2 draft picks from the last 2 years in Ugle-Hagan (tall forward) and Darcy (tall back/ruck). Plus they are very well coached. 2 Grand Finals in 5 years attests to this.
You’d think they would be up there again sooner rather than later.
