Ben Hunt is there because he couldn’t get out of his contract. If Kyle is where his dad wants him to be next year then Hunt will be allowed to leave and go back to Queensland,

Carr is working hard with what he has in front of him. He knows he won’t be part of Flannigan’s plan I’m sure. I hope Carr gets a job with a decent head coach next year. It must have been hell for him to work under Hook and I can’t see Flannigan being the best coach for Carr’s career. Dean Young return can be for one of two reasons. One he was part of the Flanno deal or Flanno sees him as his safety net when it comes to the board.

Interesting recount.I too remember Hunts failings over his years. The money offered by the club was always too much. He has only really delivered in the games prior to Origin selection. My only question of your recollection is that if I remember correctly McGregor wasn’t the initiator of bringing Hunt and also intimated that he thought the club was paying too much for him. But as always coaches have their script, just as Carr had his last week when asked has all the turmoil surrounding Hunt unsettled the team. My other observation about Hunt is that many of his good plays are about making himself look great and that his kicking within the game is not creative enough and lacks variety.

Ben Hunt was the spoilt brat that we all know last night. He should be ashamed of himself. Those kids need a leader not a tanty thrower. We can also thank Hook for letting players go that should still be here. We see them playing great footy in other teams every week. Hook and Hunt! I hope Carr drops Hunt for next week and anyone else who couldn’t be bothered. There are some good kids in KEC, They may not be quite NRL standard just yet but they are genuine SGI kids and would love to play first grade and would at least have a go.

Predicted Headlines November “Dragons give Hunt permission to talk to other Clubs” A deal has been done for now. Ben wants out even though Flannigan is going to be head coach next year. Wise man that Hunt. Another slap! Dragons board desperate to save face at least for now. But when all has calmed down Hunt will quietly negotiate a deal with another club and be with another team next year. (That’s of course unless the Fox Gossip Girls get a whiff of it first. Then it will be another circus)

I agree totally that Flannigan needs supervision. My point is that the picture the media has painted regarding the board and interference has now allowed Flannigan an independence and power to have even more say in staff and players, whether he deserves it or not.

Carr should replace Flannigan. Seibold may go next year. Then he can take over Manly. If he stays at the Dragons he’s going to have to wait at least two years (Flanno has 3 yr contract) before Flannigan gets the sack.

Maybe his comment was more about the fact that Flannigan has the right characteristics to handle the board rather than a comment on the future success of the players/team under Flannigan. I’m not going to say Flannigan is arrogant and stubborn and a bit of a bully and that’s probably the only way a coach would be able to stand up to the board’s interference. But what I will say is that Flannigan has arrived at just the right time to demand power in certain areas due to the lack of success and public knowledge that the interference of the board has played in the downfall of the Dragons.

I’ll never give up on the boys. Just can’t understand why Flannigan is still coaching let alone at the Dragons. Very lenient punishment seeing as he has still been allowed to work at clubs. Not a good message. I wouldn’t be surprised if Flannigan got rid of Carr seeing as he has such a good relationship with the boys. Although he could use Carr’s ideas and present them as his own. In that instance keeping Carr around could be useful.

The lengths he had to go to, the fact that no other team wants him as a head coach says it all. Those who think he is a good fit for the Dragons are obviously tied to the same brush as him. I will follow the team while Carr is in charge. Then that’s me done. Started going to the footy at 7, to watch the Port Kembla Blacks. Have had season tickets at WIN since The Steelers entered the comp. And travelled to Sydney as often as we good for home games there. Gave up our seats last year when Hook was re hired. Now won’t be renewing.
And if he does eventually win a premiership with the club, I will assume that there has been some underhanded behaviour from Flannigan in the process. Sad day for a club that was once full of integrity.

Well if Fox has anything to do with it, It will be Flannigan. I’m imagining the board would be too afraid to, in the end, vote for Carr. The media would attack him and the board every time we lost. And bring up the fact that they could have hired an experienced coach in Flannigan. Carr’s life would be hell.

Agree Andrew.Sloane has incredible speed and attack potential. He needs tutoring in tackle technique and sometimes he doesn’t quite read the game properly. But with the right coach and experience, he could reach great heights. I like how Carr has given permission to get more involved. The more he gets his hands on the ball the better.
