Progress is slowly happening: What each of our Aussie Super Rugby teams must do to take the next step

I guess your other shortcomings include failing at high-school satire.

'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win

Great game. Congrats to the Tahs – my team – but equally to the Saders on a massive game. Both squads obviously picking themselves off the floor, each brought their full armoury to this game. A draw would have been the fairest result but I admit the golden point moments were thrilling – if only cos we won! But also because Will Harrison added such magic moments to the Tahs’ legend on their anniversary game. 😁 😁 😁 🏉 🏉 🏉

'Incredible' Hoops backed to do better than Boks legend who 'failed abysmally' in sevens switch

Well said.

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

I agree about attempted intercepts. If the hand movement is clearly downward, then it’s deliberate and maybe worth a Yellow if in the 22. Otherwise, play the knock-on or just penalise. Flat passes have long been adjudicated by determining the direction of the passer’s hands at point of release. Same principle should apply to intercepts.

Is there a vacancy at RA for a strategic COO? 😛

Thanks for the well-researched insights, Harry. You make a compelling case.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

This Tahs fan was thinking just this morning (again) that a Waratah is the worst footy emblem I’ve ever encountered. I mean, how many tough flowers have you encountered?

I think Hoiles has a lot of promise. He’s smart, humble (I met him once at a juniors function) and already successful at club level. But let’s not promote him too soon. He’s young, so just let him earn his stripes with a series of increasingly senior appointments – just like DC should have had and Kiss can amply demonstrate.

Mate, it’s both. Now get off the sauce or the internet to save yourself more embarrassment.

Eddie puts his foot in it again by claiming 'no regrets' after leaving Wallabies in 'a better place'

I’ll have what he’s smoking … unless he’s found some new, paradoxical Eastern guru who preaches failure is the better place. “Sometimes you’ve got to leave things in a better place and maybe you take responsibility for the failure, which is OK.”

My guess is the Pasifika advisor is there to explain and advocate for key aspects of Pasifika culture. Might include insights for white folks on how to respect and supplet Pasifika players’ Christian beliefs in a secular, broadly inclusive organisation that relies on many Pasifika players and volunteers at community level as well in the professional ranks.

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

I’ve liked him since I first saw him play for the Tahs. He’s maturing nicely and probably lucky to avoid the Jones trauma suffered by Gordon, Donaldson and Lolesio.

Jed, Ned and Tane Edmed: The direction Joe Schmidt should head to put Eddie era to bed

Never forget, in his first stint as WBs coach Eddie decided the scrum was solely for the purpose of getting the forwards out of the way of the backs (which, as the great League coach Jack Gibson once explained to me, was the function of scrums in his game).

My problem with these matters, besides the catastrophic impact on club players and employees, is the notion that SRP entities are “clubs”. If so, where’s the clubhouse? Where are the lower grades playing the preliminary games? Nowhere, because these are “franchises”. Just like McDonald’s, or maybe your local nik-nak shop that got too big for its boots. If these “clubs” are to have any meaning, they need strong local roots and feeder programs.

Why things could be about to get even uglier for Rugby Australia in fallout over Rebels debacle

Extremely amateurish, either way, Bliksem.

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

Excellent! Thanks Harry. Part of the intellectual vibe flows from the moderately big screen, which poses and answers a question for each whistle. “Reason for scrum?” The answer: “unsuccessful maul.” The result is a lack of outrage; a mass murmur and collective nod.’ And may every game and commentator provide this service!

Way back in the day, my Mum made me wear a red headband so she could see me more easily on the field. (I was a crap player, retired after the U14s.) Maybe Gleeson has the same problem with his Mum?
