I don’t think Folau is relevant on a sporting site anymore, he’s not playing any sport and not likely to be anytime soon.

Just stop reporting his bile and take the oxygen out of his stupidity.

Israel Folau links bushfire crisis and drought to same-sex marriage and abortion

Batting roulette takes another spin.
I wish I knew what (if) the selectors are thinking recycling the batsman.
I kind of hope they pick 5 bowlers Pattinson, Starc and Cummins can all bat better than their positions.

Burns earns shock recall as Australia names Test squad

I hope you’re right about Haky, I’ve had something on him and Neufbosc EW

Geelong Cup preview: Every runner analysed

If you want to add additional teams, I’d suggest 2 divisions and add 4 teams
That way you have 10 games a week, you could still keep the commercially successful Thursday night game and add a Monday night game also commercially successful.
Everyone plays everyone home and away, it’s a fair draw for all.
Top division starts 4 weeks after the second division so you have finals for the second division during the final rounds of the top division. The grand finalists both get promoted. While the top tier playoffs are going on, you have the bottom 4 playing a relegation series with the two lowest going to second division next season.

What needs to change in the NRL's next TV deal

and it’s a horror movie with too many sequels….

David Warner and Joe Burns should be the openers for the First Test

No not really, but if I was another Vic club I’d be making enquiries.

AFL trade news: Tim Kelly, Eddie Betts, Mason Cox and more

So if he was a Victorian going home you’d want him to talk to a dozen clubs or face draft tampering charges.

Simoc, That’s exactly what Papley has done, Nominated a club as his preferred and then said he’s willing to chat to all Vic clubs.

AFL trade news: Tim Kelly, Eddie Betts, Mason Cox and more

The AFL is full of mercenaries now

Are you talking about the players or the clubs?

I’d suggest both to be honest and that’s the way it should be. Clubs have to look after their best interests and so do the players. Clubs don’t have to undersell assets (players) and players are entitled to seek the best contracts they can within the framework.

I don’t have a problem with the Cats getting the best deal for them, Kelly’s trying to do that for himself…..

Mercenaries all around

It's official: Tim Kelly requests trade to West Coast

Doesn’t he have to renominate for the draft?

It's official: Tim Kelly requests trade to West Coast

You do realise it’s a competition Bill?
The clubs have their responsibility to be successful and really the players are the tools to make that happen.
The players are paid amazingly to perform and sign up knowing the rules before they start.
Kelly by nominating one club over the other in Western Australia has shown that the club he goes to is more important to him than being in WA.
The Cats (and I’m not a cats fan) have every right to go and get the best deal they can.

It's official: Tim Kelly requests trade to West Coast

Parramatta fans have every right to be dirty on him walking out but not for him cutting 2/3 of a team that had won successive spoons. “But he wrote their names on a whiteboard”
This is the reason even living and working in the ACT won’t be cheering for the Raiders this weekend. His poor salary cap management and contract payouts put Parra in the depths of the salary cap issues they’ve had since. I believe this year the club is finally rid of the last of those contracts.
I’ve met him, he seems nice enough but I won’t cheer for him winning a premiership after purging, signing duds to massive contracts and then running away when it got to tough or he got a better offer.
I’m not sure which came first, but I don’t want him celebrating on Sunday night.
Go the Chooks

Haters take note: Ricky Stuart is an indisputably awesome coach

I wonder if that really is a good thing, with the tight connections it reeks a bit of nepotism and you have to wonder if the whole selection process was as objective as it should’ve been.

Time will tell I guess

Fremantle appoint Justin Longmuir as next senior coach

Great to see some NFL content.

In relation to the Bears v Packers it’s worth considering it’s week 1 and neither of the offenses really played in the pre-season. When the Packers were going to play their staters pre-season they had the debacle with the field in Canada.

I agree with you re Jacoby Brissett, I think he’s going to be adequate. They may even sneak into the playoff

The check down: NFL Week 1

Viv there is no best part of Marsh taking the field for Australia. Just none.
(even noting the sarcasm).

Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake

Wildcard playoff rounds suck when there’s 32 teams in the NFL because occasionally you get teams with a losing record making the playoffs. The same with MLB.

Putting 10 teams into the finals out of 18 makes absolutely no sense. If anything it should be reduced to 6 for both the NFL and AFL but they won’t do that because it costs games and therefore revenue

Why the AFL could benefit from wildcard finalists

Brendon the dogs weren’t even first, I think it was 1991 the Raiders exceeded the salary cap by almost 50%

So if anyone needs to wake up, well……

Which NRL club’s fans are the biggest whingers?

The only concern I have about him being sacked is do they have someone better in mind? If they haven’t made an announcement before the trading and free agency period (I assume they’re going to employ a CEO first so he can be part of the coach recruitment process which will also take time) the club might have trouble attracting people as well as keeping people at the Dockers.

I think he’d probably run his race at the end of last season. But the timing does seem very curious

Fremantle sacks Ross Lyon and CEO

No I’m saying $15k is inappropriate, $30k doubly so.

The diamond ring is a Storm in a teacup

Each Australian ground used to have it’s own traits but with the drop in pitches around the major grounds of Melbourne/Adelaide/Perth they’ve become more generic.

Warner and Bancroft are floundering

I can kind of see where they are coming from on that one, but then again, it’s not a present for Cameron, is it?

So you’re suggesting that the NRL would’ve bought her a ring if Cam had been working inthe NRL office?

Sure, let’s suggest it’s completely unrelated….

NRL make classy gesture to deserving person, outrage ensues

It’s not the ring itself, it’s the lack or respect for the funds of the game and the attitude that Beattie and Greenberg are not accountable to the shareholders within the game. Even if they’d given James Graham’s wife the same gift, that (in my opinion) means they’ve spent twice as much of the games money than necessary.

Imagine the uproar if the government did that for employees who’d been in their job for 20 years. The game is Cam Smith’s job and should be no different, neither should the uproar.

I think the fact that it was done for Cam Smith is another aspect of the NRL trying extend an olive branch for the previous administrations stripping the premierships away.

The NRL administration is scared of the Storm because they’re so much more vocal than just about anyone (except Bennett) when things don’t go their way.

Archer’s only been eligible to play for England for about 4 months. That’s why he hasn’t been picked before this.

Australia needs to take the same XI to Lord's

I get your point regarding Siddle not doing anything to warrant being dropped, but he didn’t really do anything to warrant a recall either.

I’d play Starc and rest Pattinson this test and then play Hazlewood and rest Siddle for the next test.

Saying that I’d potentially consider playing Starc for Bancroft and push Khawaja to open if the wicket looks like a road.

Australia needs to take the same XI to Lord's

It’s an opinion James, I believe they’ll find the deck tough going.
He may leak runs but his career average is still under 30 @ 3.3 runs per over (which is to much) but at a strike rate of 49.
Siddle in comparision has an average of 30 at 2.91 runs per over but a strike rate of 62.
Hazlewood’s record is better than both of them with average and runs per over at a strike rate of 58.
I hope I’m wrong and Australia run through them, but on a pitch that looks like being less and less responsive I fear the poms will pile on the runs.

Steve Smith once again saves Australia from Ashes embarrassment

The poor umpiring started well before Smith.
Warner should’ve been out first ball, then should’ve reviewed his LBW.

Poor umpiring abound as DRS needed to save Smith and condemn Wade
