And then there’s the question of whether he wants to move away from SEQ…

The question Bennett needs to address before deciding if he wants to return to Rabbitohs

Briefly… 😂

Bumbling Bunnies board, players, executives and Demetriou all deserve share of blame game after coach's demise

He’s a sugar fix.

I’m surprised at the continued fascinating recruiting Bennett by any club that under-performs. He hasn’t won a premiership for a long, long time, and he coaches for short-term results, not long-term benefit.

I’m referring to my comments, not yours.

Forget those bringing down the game, what if we embraced the A-League and Australian football cups are actually half-full?

My point is based on facts too.

Greene is lucky to have only gotten a week.

And I’m flabbergasted that Hogan got off. What the Tribunal is now saying is that you can punch someone in the face and not get punished, as long as it’s not too hard. Just astonishing.

Mixed news for Giants as Greene, Hogan Tribunal verdicts revealed

After the Suns belting on the weekend, you’d think he’d have other things on his mind than worrying about Toby Greene…

AFL News: 'Shame for our game' - legend unloads on Greene ban, 'world's gone mad' as skinfold tests punted

Riewoldt must have been look at some other footage. Greene clearly jumps in the air, doesn’t go for the football and has time to brace for impact – which was to the head of the opposing player. Lucky to only get one week in my view.

And how dare the AFL do everything it can to protect itself against future lawsuits [sarcasm alert for the slow learners]. Riewoldt really isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, is he…

The suggested way forward is a nonsense and will not solve the problems outlined. Given votes to the states will simply continue the status quo.

There should be a skills matrix put in place for the Board – financial management, marketing, governance, etc. Board members should be installed to match the skills matrix. That’s the critical thing – not which entity gets a nomination.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

And how do you know they were all paying spectators?

When a crowd this small is the “largest ever” is part of the problem.

Footy Fix: The Saints were ten times as rubbish as the Dogs were last week - and it's worth working out why

I dunno, I think every now and again teams have shocking games for no apparent reason. It’s nigh on impossible to play to your full potential every single round, even if you’re a good team. And let’s face it – neither of these teams are good. I don’t think either coach will be spending too much time analyzing that game…

Kinda sums up the A League really… 😂

Does the A-League have the clout to make a UK-bound event round work in season 2024/25?

April Fool’s Day was a few weeks ago.

Does the A-League have the clout to make a UK-bound event round work in season 2024/25?

I said at the time the APL would be a disaster. It hasn’t taken long for me to be proven right.

And sadly I think you’re spot on with your ‘can we start again?’ question. Sometimes you need to go backwards before you can move forward. But I agree with you that I can’t see it happening. That would require too many parties to admit they’re wrong and not up to the job.

So we continue with mediocrity…

Forget those bringing down the game, what if we embraced the A-League and Australian football cups are actually half-full?

I think the general population has always supported the national teams – particularly at World Cups. But that’s not the point of the article. The question is – why is the dominant code in the world (and one that has such high participation rates) struggling so badly in the provision of a professional league?

Forget those bringing down the game, what if we embraced the A-League and Australian football cups are actually half-full?

As usual, there is very little logic with this argument, which to sum up is – “the A League is going great, because look at all the kids playing soccer and the Matildas are tops!”.
Meanwhile back in the real world, the Matildas ARE tops, and football has always been a very popular participation sport in this country. But those realities are balanced out by serious problems with the A League. A seven percent increase in Western United’s crowds this season is the highlight? Seriously, could you set the bar any lower?
Some long-term solutions to consider:
– Find football specific grounds that won’t be shared with other codes. Don’t worry about current capacity (as long as there is room to grow if and when required), but ensure they can be easily accessed by fans. Currently Adelaide and (now) WU are the only clubs that fit this criteria.
– Go back to playing in winter. Why? For a start it’s a winter sport. Plus it makes it easier to build on the large participation numbers – kids can play during the day, get excited by the sport and then go to games in the late arvo, early evening while they’re hyped up.
– Forget about trying to compete with the NRL/AFL. You just aren’t in the same ballpark, so accept that reality and forge your own path. Yes, this may well mean forgoing corporate and TV support in the short term.
– Build clubs from the community up – see above point about enabling the immediate connection between kids playing and then attending a professional league game.
– Employ better administrations. I actually think this is the hardest of all these points as I think the talent pool of high quality sports administrators in this country is very shallow. I’d be looking to build ties with the MLS in America – learn how they built a good quality league in a country where football is a second or third tier sport.
– Fans need to stop being insecure about other sports. Accept their sport’s situation for what it is, not what they think it should be. Learn to accept criticism without thinking your personal manhood is being questioned.
I’m sure the above is not an exhaustive list!

Forget those bringing down the game, what if we embraced the A-League and Australian football cups are actually half-full?

Thanks for proving my point.

Not very bright are you…

How can the APL convince casual fans the A-League Men is worth supporting?

“The viewing numbers have been published”
Which were…about 60k I believe. That’s a poor figure even in Australia! In a country of over 300m, it’s a rounding error.

NRL in Vegas was such a hit, my American mate wants a Canberra Raiders jersey

26k sounds like a good crowd figure. But a few years ago that game would have been sold out. So where are the 16k people who didn’t attend this year? Saturday night and it was perfect weather…

This constant referral to ‘Cross-Country Volleyball” is part of the problem though. If you’re so insecure you have to make the same ‘joke’ multiple times in the one comment, it doesn’t say much for your sport does it?
