That is incorrect, I think you need to change your moniker. The French lost in a very close game to Wales, they did not play NZ. Don’t forget France lost a very close final to the All Blacks 8-7 in 2011.

How can we improve the standard of international rugby league?

You are incorrect – France played Wales in the QF in 2019 with a very close 20-19 loss. None of the games from the QF onwards were blow outs. Lets see what happens in the league WC – 2017 had 46-0 and 54-6. The Rugby world cup is also 20 teams, so not ‘exactly the same’

Never mind the blowouts: Why Australia must do more to make future World Cups better

Has Melbourne done well? There’s only 17 adult teams in the whole of the city – that’s less than 1 per year, probably way less as there would’ve been a few to start off with.

Where should the NRL's 18th franchise go?

Actually, half of their team in Japanese born – a lot more are living there and have been for many years. It’s not like rugby league criteria where you need to have tried sushi to qualify.

It'd be great for rugby league if Kangaroos don't win World Cup: Take the $11 on a Samoa fairytale

It’s like when some NRL fans were saying the NRL should be more as it gets more facebook likes!
Don’t know how many of the ’30-40′ million more views are twice counted through regionals etc. Advertisers are interested in the 5 city ratings.

The V'landys mentality is everything that's wrong with league

Felix – the crowds for the Storm may be OK in Melbourne – even thought they are not better than even the worst Melbourne AFL team, but they’ve been the best performing team in any code over the last couple of decades. Will be interesting to see what happens when they start sliding down the ladder.

Great write up, Tim.
He was just such a joy to watch, moved so well.
He also lost 5 close 5 set GF finals – AO 2010, Wimbledon 2008, 2014, 2019 and US in 2009, so a bit unlucky not to get more than 20

His records have tumbled, but retiring Roger is still tennis' undisputed GOAT

I think you’re wrong there, Rowdy – that may be too hard a task for most ex NRL players – I think the test is whether you’ve tried Tabbouleh or Baba Ghanoush.

Suburban stadium playoff policy underlines why AFL is ahead of not-so-National Rugby League

And in every other country both are played outside the economic powerhouse that is PNG and east coast Australia.

Pistol, while I agree totally that league participation rates are going backwards (off a small base), don’t think Soccer participation is going the same way, although it is expensive to play compared to other sports which can affor to subsidise the grass roots.

AFL News: Seven, Foxtel sign $4.5b broadcast deal, NicNat targeted by racist trolls, Prelim draw locked in

You need to get off this Facebook likes crusade – it makes not one iota of difference – it’s not moneterised, takes no effort and would pale into insignificance to facebook likes for anything global. It’s also not where most youngsters hang out anymore.

AFL News: Seven, Foxtel sign $4.5b broadcast deal, NicNat targeted by racist trolls, Prelim draw locked in

AFL is just about always in top 10 FTA, NRL never is. AFL is the main reason why Ch7 wins many of it’s weeks. Perhaps this deal will change the Foxtel ratings, which at the moment go to NRL.

The big difference is AFL has never sought, or wanted to expand. Like the NFL, it is happy just being a one nation game. On the other hand league has always wanted to expand and had a world cup decades before the Rugby World Cup. Unfortunately for them, the game has gone backward over the decades. Once there were 5 competing nations. Now there’s really only 3, with the 3rd one going backwards.

I would suggest that 4 number ones in Australia negates the one hit wonder tag

It's 2022, 'the heat of the moment' is not an excuse for homophobia

Hi Pfitzy (or whatever your moniker was before) As I replied to newy fan above, I only made one, short comment – how is that classed as ‘seriously’ triggered, although I’m happy that my comments make people sit up and take note.

'It trumps league': Why don’t the media give rugby union a fair go?

NRLW got 52k for the Broncos / Titans match, can’t find the others this weekend, but from those figures wouldn’t call it a powerhouse, especially with only 6 teams and considering the Warriors have already left.

We're about to find out if Australia truly is a football nation

19 have never won a match.

Thank you Newy (or whatever you last moniker was) for the compliment. I only made one, short post, but have been elevated above many others. Glad to see people take note.

How many in Australia are interested in league – not many in WA, SA, TAS, VIC and NT judging by the ratings.

Collingwood and Essenden would be bigger than Carlton, although the crowd is up from last year for both codes probably due to covid restrictions.

Perhaps I’m reading it wrong, but there’s been a couple of others since Gary Ablett snr, including Tony Lockett.
They had the same warnings on the day he broke Coventry’s record, even having it announced straight after the record breaking goal and although it may have stalled the rush, it certainly didn’t stop it and I don’t recall any fines being issued.

It doesn’t offend my religious sensibilities, but the degree of persecution isn’t even close – would you have the same opinion if he compared his ‘persecution’ to Nelson Mandela stint in prison?

'They crucified Jesus and now they're trying to crucify Novak': Tennis dad's astonishing attack on Australia

To compare having to wait in a luxurious hotel to get some lawyers to try and get you through when you haven’t done the right thing with a crucifixion where the result is death (and also the start of a major religion) – you don’t think that’s disrespectful?

'They crucified Jesus and now they're trying to crucify Novak': Tennis dad's astonishing attack on Australia

Very, very disrespectful to even think of comparing a wealthy, boorish sportsperson’s treatment to what happened to Jesus – even if you’re not religious. Surprised they didn’t throw in Nelson Mandela!

The percentage of PI’s in Australia is less than 1% (although as noted before higher in NSW and QLD). The percentage of African Americans in the US is around 13%, so what you say (and the last sentence) is correct.
