It may be one of the many reasons why there are virtually no local players in the Storm and few Juniors in Melbourne as there is a lower percentage of PI’s down there compared to NSW and QLD.
Maori are of PI heritage, so the first sentence should be ‘PI heritage included Maori’

Australia ranked fourth for 2022 Rugby League World Cup

Is that meant to be a put down?
Don’t you think it’s great the PNG won something – don’t think it happens often.

Australia ranked fourth for 2022 Rugby League World Cup

That’s a fair summation Punter and I would go as far as to say Messi and Ronaldo etc would be bigger in a lot of places in Sydney that Rugby league players, especially amongst the young.

Football has lost its soul in Australia and only the fans can save it now

It’s a very different situation. You can’t impose salary caps in Football at that level as the top players have the option of going to another country to get more money. League players in Australia (like the AFL) don’t have that option – they can’t get better money by going to another country.

What if the salary cap really was just a brown paper sombrero?

I’m a fan of many sports – AFL is not actually top of the list. It really doesn’t bother me that you attack people all the time, but it actually makes you look aggressive in a 1950’s mould (back when league had some sort of following in England)

‘Rebuilding relationships’: Rugby League World Cup back on track for 2022

Once again Otuble you’re attacking the poster instead of the point – do you agree with NobleSavage or not?

‘Rebuilding relationships’: Rugby League World Cup back on track for 2022

and yet you would take everything statistic that agrees with your point of view with league at face value.

It’s funny Jacko, that when evidence is supplied they dismiss it as being exaggerated, but when in comes to league figures they want you to accept them lock stock and barrel.

‘Rebuilding relationships’: Rugby League World Cup back on track for 2022

Thanks, NobleSavage for a reality check. Good to hear from someone that is actually there. Suspected, but didn’t realise it was so bad in England (well the parts that play it)

I would say what’s pathetic is the constant replying without any actual substance.
What I say about the storm and league down there is not false. There were no antics at the pub – only a sensible business decision. I know it upsets you that other pubs have followed with this decision. You say you point to the facts, but you don’t supply any.

Is there hope for English rugby league?

You are falsifying what I said to suit your agenda and my comments about the storm and league down there are the reality. Whether I have bias or not does not alter that.
Again, just attacking me and not refuting my information.
No matter how much you attack me, I won’t stoop that low and use insults and abuse.

Is there hope for English rugby league?

Again, insults and no evidence to back up your ‘dramatically’ claim.
BTW, I did not refuse people to watch, I didn’t show league on the tv’s and revenue increased – there are a few smaller pubs around with a similar strategy today. Please don’t falsify what I said.

Bradford City is in the 4th division, so you would expect the league team to get better crowds, although the Bulls did go into administration and down from the top division. It’s so close to Leeds, so would assume quite a football following there, considering they’re in the EPL now.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

I agree, chris – drive around Sydney and you’ll see plenty of kids playing sokkah, but none playing league. This has happened in a generation, will be interesting to see how it progresses.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

I know the reality affects you, but just because you like the game, doesn’t make you correct.
I hardly rant about how big my ‘code’ is – even though I do support several codes.
And it’s laddie, not laddy.

Is there hope for English rugby league?

That is quite incorrect – participation has not increased ‘dramatically’ and you’ve ignored local players.

Is there hope for English rugby league?

No one is denying that the Storm are successful – as well they should be as on field they are by far the most successful team of any code over the last few decades. What can’t be denied is they haven’t had much impact on Melbourne. Still don’t get any locals in the team, still haven’t had a huge participation increase down there and unlike the Swans who are the most attended club in Sydney, they still haven’t overtaken the worst performing AFL side down there.

Is there hope for English rugby league?

Again with the personal insult, but it really I take it as a compliment that you’re paying so much attention to me.

If you have eaten a kibbeh you can play for Lebanon, tried a pizza you’re OK for Italy or feasted on a deep fried mars bar then you’re a good fit for Scotland – I think that’s how ‘international’ league works

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

It’s not just on wikipedia – if you cared to look it up, there are several sources to back this fact up. Just because the NRL doesn’t feature in the top 20 is no reason not to believe it.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

I’d say not until about 20 years ago, when the Swans started getting popular and Football really started taking over in participation. Before then it was Rugby and league in the east and north, but league dominated elsewhere.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

I had no idea, FiL, that league was in such decline in Newcastle – that’s canary in the coalmine stuff. Of course we all new about the continual grass roots decline in Sydney and how that city is now an all code city, but Newcastle was once a true heartland.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

chris – if you like Axe throwing, you’ll love boot throwing, which is actually acknowledged by the Olympic committee (unlike league)
Like league, Aussie Rules is played in quite a few countries, but the actual numbers in both get talked up.

Dear AFL and NRL fans: Will we be seeing you at the A-Leagues this season?

As I keep repeating. I only use clipper. Why do I need to change or hide? Let me know what other monikers you think I use, I would be interested to know.

Thom – he/she was here on the roar under a different alias, but apparently ‘forgot’ what it was, so they’ve been on here for awhile
