Super Rugby teams: Tupou benched, Jorgo back for Fiji trip, Petaia sidelined, Swain surprise

“Reindeers are better than people”

Of course.

'It's time we grew up': The jarring hypocrisy that proves All Blacks are getting key call all wrong

Nope, Razors a winner not a loser like his predecessor.

Reminds me of a song from the movie, Frozen.

'It's time we grew up': The jarring hypocrisy that proves All Blacks are getting key call all wrong

I would like to see a replay of the incident at a closer angle as the only one I could find is from a distance.

Rugby News: SBW's verdict on crashing Crusaders as 'beast' suffers blow, Sam Cane ABs replacement emerges

To be fair, a couple of the Oz sides have definitely improved, but yes, as is usually the case post a RWC following the usual large exodus, the Kiwi sides have come back to the pack.

Rugby News: SBW's verdict on crashing Crusaders as 'beast' suffers blow, Sam Cane ABs replacement emerges

I’ve changed my mind and think the Crusaders will get up against the Hurricanes. With their backs against the wall, being at home and the Hurricanes prone to bouts of inconsistency, this might just be the time they do get into their stride.

The Roar's Super Rugby expert tips, Round 4: After a week where we all felt like Tane, here's to six out of six

Especially without the quality and experience at 2, 9 & 10 and the game breaker at 15, this was always going to be a tough season for them.

Super Rugby teams: Rookie at 10 for Reds, DC dips into club footy in hooker crisis, Jorgo ruled out, White benched

Fair enough. It’s probably more the ref being influenced by the crowd which I can understand to some extent.

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

Now the following link is pretty informative.

Now this is from 2019 and I understand the framework was updated in 2021, so will see if I can find something more recent.

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

The video is a better indicator of what happened.

While he was certainly bent over when starting his tackle, he did drive up and forward (as most players do) which maybe why his ban was as high as it was.

Tupou won't shy away from hurting ex-teammates in first clash against old team, Reds prop cops surprising four-match ban

Actually another straw-man as Coker doesn’t prove your point at all. He states the following;

* Nobody claimed that Cane should’ve stayed on the field. This is in direct contrast to your initial claim.
* Kolisi should have been treated the same way. As it happens, and in my opinion, he was.
*I haven’t heard any Chiefs fans claiming they were robbed. Again, in direct contrast to your claim.

Tupou won't shy away from hurting ex-teammates in first clash against old team, Reds prop cops surprising four-match ban

Gee, even with it being a home game, losing Scott Barrett will most likely see see them go 0-4 for the season after their game against the impressive Hurricanes.

Super Rugby teams: Rookie at 10 for Reds, DC dips into club footy in hooker crisis, Jorgo ruled out, White benched

There was a penalty awarded and Jordie Barrett was yellow carded at the time. The head clash by Sef Fa’agase received none of those during the game. From reports, Sef recieved a ban of 3 weeks back in March 2023 for a shoulder to the head of a player.

But back to your broader point, it can seem like a lottery in guessing the length of what a ban might be.

Okay, so you expect something similar for Australian refs against kiwi players here in Australia?

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

An Aust player does it to a kiwi in NZ and watch him be sent to the bin by the kiwi ref.

Wasn’t the penalty count 10-5 to the Reds? Not sure how this fits in with your kiwi refs conspiracy.

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

It was late and deserved at least the penalty but to call it a textbook shoulder charge is a stretch. His arm was in front of the shoulder and certainly wasn’t tucked up in a sling position.

Thanks for the link.

I notice the article is from November 2023 and since then, a referendum has been ruled out. Unless I’m wrong, it appears all that is on the table is for a Bill to define and legislate the Principles of the Treaty. I understand this hasn’t been tabled so the details are yet to be known or even debated on.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

While probably true, the comparison made was between the Reds beating the Chiefs last year and last weekend. I simply replied that the Chiefs team for both games was very similar.

This will become even more of an issue if Scott Barrett gets injured (or suspended).

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Just looked now and while he was bent (slightly), it was never enough. With Petaia not dipping, this looks like a red card to me.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Actually, the Chiefs lineups for both games were quite similar. Also, last years game was a home game (albeit, at New Plymouth) for the Chiefs.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

I’ve had a search on the internet to see what all the controversy is and I can see that the ACT Party wants to introduce a Treaty Principles Bill, which to me shouldn’t by itself be the cause of all this fuss. Have there have been other announcements by the government which has triggered this?

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Previously I didn’t understand the hype around Fakatava as I thought he was over-rated. I will say though, he has started well this year and has started to impress me. Roigard has been very good so far and at this early stage of the season, must have the inside running for the AB #9.

Living in Sydney I’m not up with the politics back in NZ, so when you say, “what is becoming a racial issue with the current government”, what does that mean specifically? This is an honest question.

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

Thanks for the reference, ATW.

It does go on a bit though and IMO, lacks specific data to substantiate some of the claims.

I note in only the second paragraph of the Foreword, the Ombudsman sets the tone for the report with the following;

It is not news that Aboriginal people are significantly over-represented in Victorian prisons, as indeed they are around Australia. They make up less than 1 per cent of the Victorian population but 11 per cent of the prison population. It is a shameful legacy for all Australians, rooted in a colonial history of dispossession and violence, the impact of which continues to this day.

Nevertheless, a couple of points from the report, there is section dedicated to Deaths of Aboriginal people in custody (I note they reference the 1991 Royal Commission but not the numerous reports since). Now the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) has a National Death in Custody Program (NDICP) whereby they regularly monitor this. Since from around 2003, NDICP data show Indigenous people are now less likely than non-Indigenous people to die in prison
custody. Also of interest is the state with one of the lowest rates is Victoria.

I also noted from the conclusion of the ombudsman report mentioned the following: Aboriginal people in prison spoke of healthcare that did not meet their basic physical needs, let alone address the cultural, social and emotional elements of health.

I wonder if non-Indigenous prisoners also feel the healthcare wasn’t meeting their needs also?
