agreed. we were comfortable the majority of the game, got the goals, couple impressive individual performances and got a few players their debuts. also welcomed back the x factor duo rogic and mooy which is only good for the team. Now need to get the job done in Oman were their will be undouabtly difficult conditions. Need to take maximum points to give us the best chance against japan and saudi arabia.

'World class': Rogic sublime as Socceroos get the job done with WCQ win over Vietnam

biggest problem at Sydney is that they dont give much game time to players aged 17-19. King has been an exception however most other players who are 19-21 struggle to get minutes. Callum talbot has just made his first start for the club and its 21, Harry VDS and Wood never get consistent minutes which is harming their development. The club should show more faith in their players like CCM or adelaide who seem to always give minutes to players aged 16-19.

King of Odense: Rising star secures European move

yeah I cant believe he doesnt get talked about as much as any other youngster in the league, suppose it must be due to the underrated nature of his position. Personally i think he could fill that gap as a deep lying playmaker in the national team, reminds me of a toni kroos/busquets style of player and if he can add the box 2 box midfield role to his game its only gonna take him further

What's at stake for Adelaide this preseason?

boyle will be crucial, only inform attacker along with McGree in the last few weeks in the squad. Personally, i’d rather see leckie and nabbout used from the bench as they haven’t played comp games for months. Maclaren might have to start as he is only the real no.9 in the squad along with Duke, who i think is too ineffective against quality opposition. Midfield balance will be key, as arnold will have to decicde whether he goes all out attack with Hrustic, McGree, Genreau or might need to bring in a jeggo/Irvine for balance. Can’t wait for the game!

Qatar looks a long way off should the Socceroos lose tonight

hey andy, always rate your opinions on young players and was wondering what you think of Louis D’arrigo. always been impressed about how at 18 he stepped right into that adelaide first team and replaced isasis with ease. Hes played regulars first team football over the last few seasons, which we dont always see for a 18/19yr old in central midfield. Wanted to hear what you think the future holds for him and if his playing time will be impacted this season as adelaides midfield is stacked.

what makes you say that? Asian cup 2019 could have been better but we were missing key players from our squad. Olympics showed our young players have potential to mix it with players from around the world, many of them will be intergrated into socceroos team imo. So far been flawless in world cup qualifiers. id say judge him after the 2nd round of qualification and our performances at the world cup (if we make it)

‘Socceroos can’t afford to keep Graham Arnold as coach, because someone with fresh ideas is required’
the hate this guy has gotten from the egypt game is unjustified. We should see him out until the world cup as he is the first coach in a long time that has been able to bring young players through. The socceroos now have much more depth due to hands on coaching with the olyroos. While the olympics was in the end disappointing and the tactics in the first half of the egypt game were questionable the squad over achieved expectations , with most people believing australia would get smashed every match. Good article however on these players, many i think are eligible for the young socceroos and will improve if they continue to get game time
