and they didn’t win the flag and won’t this season or next, blah, blah, blah, same as last year…2 key players out for more than 10 games and you won’t make the 8.

Why 2021 is this Geelong side's last shot at premiership glory

….coupe long term injuries to a couple of key players and they miss the 8….do they then go back with the same group in 2022?
I can’t see how they can win the flag with their current list, they were very lucky last season to get as far as they did.
And to lose to a declining tigers outfit, they have lost their best chance of winning a flag.
Rebuild is only 2 years away and so is a new coach….

Why 2021 is this Geelong side's last shot at premiership glory

The Blues Macca have a very, very heavy front ended contract coming up at the end of this season to work out, so there is no way they will be paying Williams $900,000 a season as reported by the HWT/FOX or anyone else, Cripps will be offered a mass amount in season 1 of his new contract.
And as they have so many younger players that they will have to top up as they start to improve…. to which they will lose some to other clubs, but will then have the room to keep who they want.
I just can’t wait until Adelaide start knocking on the door with a $1,000,000 cheque for some of those guys up in QLD, living on the Gold Coast….

AFL top eight predictions: Series introduction and eighth place

mate please, lol, they haven’t done a thing and may go through their whole career without a premierships next to their name, just ask Bobby Skilton what 3 things he would’ve handed back for just one flag….please your to excited about nothing, it just hasn’t happen yet.

Ben vs Max: Which King is better?

Yeah like you get the truth from a dirty journo from the Herald Sun, lol, you make me laugh, as I said you … you said it, so prove it, have you seen his contract details? nah you haven’t your just speculating, for all you know it could be $1 million in the first year and $650,000 a season for the rest of the contract with $250,000 in incentives if he hits targets, you will find most clubs have around $5,000,000 built into there incentive programs a season, which will take them to 102% of the cap or as low as 94% of the cap.

AFL top eight predictions: Series introduction and eighth place

…..just hate it when people try to place so much expectation on young players just leave them alone to develop and with luck no injuries, its people like you who do the most damage to young players, build them up and when they fail knock them for not living up to your expectations.
They are just kids and won’t be any good until they are 23 to 25, they all can’t be Wayne Carey’s.

Ben vs Max: Which King is better?

How did Foxfooty get their hands on Zac Williams contract? as you claim Thomas.

AFL top eight predictions: Series introduction and eighth place

great side, let hope they all have a injury free season.

AFL top eight predictions: Series introduction and eighth place

Because they haven’t done a thing yet, they haven’t finished growing, they haven’t made a impact on winning games week after week, if we review them in 5 years time we have a good body of work.

Ben vs Max: Which King is better?

Great look at it….

Why 2021 is this Geelong side's last shot at premiership glory

Are you saying Geelong would be happy to just be there and not win a flag? because currently that’s whats happening.
I believe Geelong is one of the most profession clubs in the AFL, if not the history of the AFL they are coached and managed fantastically, but if they aren’t winning flags, then I believe they would be looking at every player and every coach that would get them a flag, the AFL like all profession sport and is very very cut throat.

Port all in on Ken Hinkley

Liam Badkin great article,
I have picked the Blues to make the 8 as well, but I think luck will have more to do with it, but you are right they look to have the good’s to make a play for the eight, but more importantly are now looking like they are carrying more depth in case of injury, should be very interesting to watch how good the Blues will be or how bad.

“Leo Barry you star!”
Great game of footy, great result for the AFL, but yes Big Bad Barry should’ve been suspended, not that I can remember the details of the tribunal, but I bet the threat to take it to court was on the table from the Swans.

AFL announces strict new concussion protocols for 2021

hmmm I wonder if it will stop at 1 week and not get pushed out even further with continuing medical research.

AFL announces strict new concussion protocols for 2021

If you move Moore out of the back half who do you replace him with and will that player develop into a player half as good as Moore, I think Moore will be played back because they have no one as good to replace him with, currently.
Maybe thats a type of player that they target next trade period.

Darcy is Moore of a forward than you think

Maybe we review how good these kids are in about 5 years…

Ben vs Max: Which King is better?

I think Geelong had been sniffing around him…

Port all in on Ken Hinkley

Didn’t win a flag with him, so not a huge lost to the side and change is good for any club.

what financial figure is unders for Dusty? I was under the impression that Dusty was being paid over $1,000,000 a season is that wrong? and I think people have to remember Dusty is in the right environment team wise to play his best footy, they have a game plan that leaves Dusty one on one 95% of the game as soon as he is tagged they move him forward, so in another side he wouldn’t get the team support he gets at Richmond,
whereby someone like Patrick Cripps is double teamed around the ground in ball ups and in the middle is blocked by a tagger most of the time, so he can’t do what he can 50% of the time and he wouldn’t be the only mid getting this treatment, so as good as Dusty is he doesn’t get the treatment others get, so I think he is being paid overs, but thats just my opinion.

The five clubs that should chase Zach Merrett

….will be interesting how many people will be allowed into the game, I think the AFL men’s competition will be half stadiums for half the season.
Yeah I agree I think the Blues with a bit of luck will make the top 8.

Which records will tumble in the season opener between Richmond and Carlton?

hmmmm did Richmond pay market rates for Lynch?

The five clubs that should chase Zach Merrett

I think if Merrett wants to go to a club he will get there, for a future first round or players both, whatever it takes, I think clubs like Collingwood, Geelong, Port, Carlton or whomever it is would get the deal done.
Merrett would look good in yellow and black as well so I wouldn’t rule any club out, even WCE will have cash once a couple of players retire at the end of 2021 season.
Whatever happens I don’t think he will be at Essendon come the start 2022 season.

The five clubs that should chase Zach Merrett

Great topic,
Interestingly I had Collingwood on top for picking up Merrett, but if he was playing in Geelong colours in 2022 I wouldn’t be surprised, they are willing to give up picks and players

The five clubs that should chase Zach Merrett

Ari Stamatakos great article, just wished you had done a top 3.

One player from each club to look out for in 2021

Well, I understand your point but just don’t think the world works that way, not that I don’t agree I know people in Tassie would love the Saints to play games down that way, I guess AFL clubs sell memberships to their state base supporters for them to come to games, so if Richmond sells 100,000 memberships and 75,000 are sold just in Melbourne, how does Richmond explain why they are playing home games in Tassie to which, only a small amount of those supporter will travel and even if a 1/3 of those supporters did travel then no one from Tassie would be able to get a ticket as the grounds only have a limited capacity.
I guess its a little like asking WCE or Dockers to play home games in the NT, why should those paid up supporters in Perth miss out on going to the footy, because the AFL has force them to play games up there…
Look I understand your point and its a warm and fuzzy thought to be playing big drawing clubs down in Tassie just don’t think its possible.
Shouldn’t all AFL clubs show loyalty to those that have paid their memberships or shouldn’t the clubs show them the respect for the sake of Tassie.

Hawks, Kangas could be kicked out of Tassie as state ramps up expansion demands
