Blues beaten by their own hubris

Footy Fix: Amazing Adelaide resurrect their season with one of the great wins... but how on earth did they pull it off?

I’m not even confident about beating North at the moment, Owen Nine is a nightmarish possibility

'Suffering from paralysis-by-analysis': Adelaide Crows have gone from box office sensation to under-performing turkeys

Racists will always be among us, unfortunately.

WA are surely now the competition’s benchmark of how to do things right the first time. A certain unnamed State whose initials are SA should take notice … a benchmark basketcase for way too long. Don Freo deserves plaudits for the way he’s supported his men on this forum

Unstoppable WA wallop Tassie to complete unprecedented 'triple double' of Shield and one-day titles

Footy Fix: The Crows played 2024's dumbest game against the AFL's smartest team - and it was ghastly

Have you forgotten Robert Shaw

I have zero confidence in the crows this week, sadly. Even at home

Selection decisions defy logical theory. With that in mind I think they will drop Head quicker than anybody else in the squad

The Dean Jones example that Australian selectors must avoid in regenerating ageing Test squad

A Crows man I am but I seriously can’t see them getting anywhere near finals this year, GC will clean them up by 10 goals if they start like they did vs Tigers

Carey’s gone

Marnus regains form but Australia's ongoing middle-order woes put heat on Carey as Kiwis claw back into Test

Logic? They gave that idea away a long time ago

COMMENT: Horrendously out of form or not, Australia would be mad to ditch Marnus now

Adelaide, fourth? You’re smoking some really good shit there …

Who makes the top eight in 2024 - and why the Pies are still the team to beat

They won’t ditch Marnus, in the same way they wouldn’t drop Warner. Head and Carey are in the cross-hairs though. No matter that Carey is by far and away the best keeper, the push for Inglis will never diminish.

Cricket is cricket, and the massive profits made by foxtel etc should further ram home the argument that international cricket, be it Test, ODI or T20, must be on free to air TV. I thoroughly enjoyed watching last year’s Ashes broadcast from England, and it’s a crying shame that games in NZ are hidden from the majority of Australian cricket fans. NZ is so much closer than England, but is treated like it’s two worlds away.

No longer pyjama cricket: Viewership numbers dispel any myth that T20s haven't earned “real cricket” status in Australia

Finally, I’ve been able to watch the majority of play in a Test match this summer … work has been almost always stopping me. I thought this was really well done by the Aussie team. Bad luck for SA to lose Kapp before the start, I’d liked watching her in the WBBL. Sure they were below full strength but it was great to see the grit that came out in their second dig. Congratulation Annabel Sutherland! ????????????????????

Sutherland shows all-round class as Aussies polish off Proteas with demolition victory

You don’t rate Ponting or Clarke, then?

Windies' dynasty decline a cautionary tale for Australian selectors with major transition period looming

ICC won’t do anything without being prodded by their Indian owners

Bazball won’t save Test cricket - but it’s time to give ‘whingeing Poms’ overdue credit for dramatic turnaround

Unfortunately, Australia are arrogant enough to say exactly that about the upcoming NZ trip. The continued rubbish about Green, the over-reliance on veteran bowlers, the move of Smith to opening … all smacks of desperate attempts to stave off the inevitable. Smith’s innings yesterday does not make him an opener for the long term, it was exactly what he would have done from the 4 position. Also, it is foolish to try to replace on the basis of one being proven better than the incumbent – the replacement can’t even get the chance to prove it! Boland did a great job a couple of seasons ago and should have been left in there. Morris and Bancroft must be wondering what else they could do to earn long term selection. The Windies have shown the way forward – pick the younger ones who have proven to be gritty and stick with them

Test Mortem: Green’s golden status fading as batting unit becomes fragile, Windies need help to kick on from Gabba glory

An Indian crowd sledging … ? Who’d a thunk it ????????????

'Where is your Bazball?': Fans sledge England as bubble bursts with India dishing out taste of their own medicine

Australia had a long period of completely ignoring New Zealand as a cricketing opponent, so we haven’t changed much in that respect

COMMENT: What's the point in playing the Windies? Only the future of Test cricket itself

Either Khawaja or Smith should be shoulder tapped after these 2 Tests vs West Indies. For the next series, open with Renshaw and either one of those two, then next summer bring in a bolter, eg Matt Short. Warner became a Test player by being a star in the short form (pun not intended!) so Short in my opinion has to be at least in the conversation.

The final stand: How Steve Smith's shift to opener exposes the Australian cricket team's twilight era

I’m not sure I would even want to know how it all happened. Staying silent could well be the best thing to do after all.
