Geez was a shame about the Dockers this year. Maybe some day.

September comes early for Melbourne and Collingwood in blockbuster finals preview

Come on Peter. They should really reverse the result from last night, and replay the game down at Geelong during the week. Pies don’t deserve to play on the big stage boss. The “experts” are always right 😂

Pies into prelim after conquering Cats

I have to apologise to you mate. Because I could only like this comment once LOL.

West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers: AFL elimination final forecast

False prophet old boy! Bombers got this covered. The talisman Tippa will light this one up. Eagles cooked for mine. Are you going tomorrow Peter?

West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers: AFL elimination final forecast

Despite the calibre of players out for team USA, this is probably a landmark moment in Australian basketball. Hopefully this reflects the standard we play at the World Cup, and we can medal up, if not make a final, and give ourselves a chance to win it!!

Defeated Down Under! Boomers beat USA in Game 2

Completely agree Peter. That Eagles game was a shock win, even by my expectations. The last six minutes evaporated, and before we knew it, it was game over. I suppose we can look to Melbourne as evidence of what the Eagles can do when they get a second chance, and looking for redemption. I heard on one of the footy programs tonight that Clarko could shut down the game in an attempt to beat the Eagles. If that result comes through, then the Bears winning would only be a bonus. Will you go to some finals Peter?

AFL finals predictions heading into Round 23

How have things been Peter? Did you travel to the city of churches for the Crows game? That would be almost our only four quarter performance all year! Clarko knows how to dismantle the opposition. Look at his record against Collingwood, or how he destroyed Geelong earlier this season. Even exposing GWS as downhill skiers in the snow in Canberra! Bugger fifth. Win it from third. The Tuggers did it in 2017. Time for us to take the bull by the horns, and reclaim our place in the pantheon of greats. I’d take fourth but, and a first up meeting with Geelong. What about you?

AFL finals predictions heading into Round 23

We really should have declared earlier. Lyon out. Finished. Smith can’t hit the ball off the square. Don’t even get me started on the skipper. I also like sarcasm.

Australia bulldoze England in first Ashes Test

I seen today Scotty might be playing mate. Channeling his inner Pants. It’s only a finger, so he can strap it up, and as the bald headed flog says “PLAY ON!!” What’s the worst that can happen? He can’t pick his nose on Monday? Re the midfielders on top, we didn’t look it mate. It’s like the end of the game crept up on us. When Betty kicked that point, aside from the Darling kick, time just disappeared, and before I knew it, Betty and Ryan were running for a ball in the pocket with five seconds left, and it suddenly dawned on me we’d win lol! It felt like the reverse of the grand final Petey. We pinched it hardcore. What would you say we have to do to beat the Giants? They have lost Coniglio and Kelly apparently. Also apparently they are good players. I don’t know that team well haha

Pies stun Eagles in thrilling grand final rematch

Thanks Petey. It’s really weird because only our fourth win in Perth in thirty years against the eagles. They always have our measure, and after four in a row and the losses you mention, I was done half way through the third quarter. But I still can’t understand how we can keep a full strength reigning premier, on their home deck, with the anti-dew spray causing our blokes to go ice skating instead of playing footy, to one behind in just under an hour of footy, and smash them in I50s and contested ball? We surely have to come up with the answer to all our problems? Maybe have Cox and Mihocek deep like Bucks did, and if one scatters the pack, the other will mark and goal?

Pies stun Eagles in thrilling grand final rematch

Petey! It’s been a while. What about my mate Betty Crocker? The winning behind a la Plugger PF 1996! Seriously though, I saw you in the forecast thread man. You were posting like a broken man. You been around a while, and you would have seen us win matches like that we should not have. The two losses were an abberation. Not that any team these days needs a spark, but this will be one. The grass looks greener now until the Crows game I reckon. But the Eagles flogged the Dockers the same as the Crows the Suns, so we can probably go to AO with confidence. Magpies might win all our interstate games this year eh? Even though we never leave the MCG….

Wait so, England won’t be the first to 500? Geez. Why are we even bothering with the rest of the tournament then? /s

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

From my experience as a Maggies supporter at the SCG this year, they are already statues. It’s a picnic up there once the game starts, a rock concert before, and god forbid you even raise your voice a little to shout “go team!” without being given a death stare that would make my ex mother in law blush!

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

Imagine when buddy comes back into form, and you have Sam Reid doing that? Yeah, my boys MIGHT have had Darcy Moore out, but still have to kick them. Half a dozen against anyone in a pressure match like that, is exceptional. Hope they flog the Cats!

At this point, it's Geelong's flag to lose

Getting heckled by the mob again Peter? Keep up the good work mate. That 2018 preliminary final will always be beautiful. Will you be going to Sydney tomorrow night?

At this point, it's Geelong's flag to lose

Good call. Jimmy Clement was some player. I recall his semi final against West coast in 2007. Down and out early, probably near worst player on the ground, he came up trumps in the end, and might have even had the final kick before extra time? As for Rhyce, he was flying before injury crueled him in 2005, but he fought out a great career at the Swans. Heath was even better, but should have kept his mouth shut. Kennedy is a legend, and alongside Buddy, the swans are astronomically better. While the AFL fan in me hopes they play, the Wobbles fan in me hopes they are carrying the drinks. What did become of Jared Crouch? 194 games in a row, then disappeared….

AFL top 100: Round 10 preview Sydney vs Collingwood

I remember sitting up to this match. Was my first world cup, and I had seen half the Pakistan fixture, the Indian fixture in full, some of the kiwi and pommy fixture, and now this. I had hoped Kenya would post something competitive, but this was my first time seeing a hattrick live. Brett Lee at his prime, was unstoppable. He burst onto the test scene, but his ODI form was even better. It was a real shame that elbow injuries did him in. A special mention to Aasif Karim, who took something like 3/8? Then Gilly’s 96, and Roy getting us home. Great memories!

The Roar’s Cricket World Cup countdown: Brett Lee’s brutal hat-trick

Tigers did the same against Port. Have to admit, the tiger is still stirring.

AFL Round 9 will be season-defining for many clubs

Someone has to fly the flag for the number 39 Pete! I actually spotted you last year during the finals, and you were constantly defending us against Richmond fans who, rightly, believed they would walk into the Grand Final. You were humble, yet quietly confident I felt. You and I know the result. On our form, I was at training today, and went to the coffee shop and they were all there, players looking trim and terrific. Coxy had ice on his ankle, but said he might try and play, and Adam Treloar said De Goey will be right. But you have to manage them. So inconsistency might be the result of these niggles? Better to rest them one week now, rather than have them blow up just before finals. As for the Grand Final, I now recall that WHE goal in the first. We could have scored them from anywhere in that first 25 minutes. Had it continued all day, it would have been a fairytale. Sheed when it counts, but would it not have been tied if he kicked a behind? We had 1:40 on the clock. Fast break, and with players panicking, we might have got it down the other end. It still gives me nightmares. What is your opinion on Ben Reid, Pete?

Collingwood’s ballistic bursts give them the competition’s highest ceiling

I reserve right to spam your comments then. Pies are travelling okay, but we will always be up against it every week, regardless of who we play. For me, seems as if we are hot and cold. One week, we play the electric football, frantic movement through the middle, and we blow teams away in a quarter, while next week, we are slow and struggle to scrap out a win. Either way, winning is better than losing. I feel as if Geelong and west coast have our measure, but we have another game against the eagles to prove me wrong. Another danger game will be the doggies at docklands in a few weeks, after what I saw when they belted Richmond, and against the hawks, since they have beaten us all but once since the 2011 Preliminary Final. Few outs this week, including possibly De Goey, has me a little toey, but good teams win it tough. I am completely with you on the Maynard non free by the way. Saw it live. But it doesn’t take away from how good the Sheed kick was. Eagles were all over us.

Collingwood’s ballistic bursts give them the competition’s highest ceiling

Very humble of you Paul.

I believe our percentage was quite high 2017, courtesy of those small losses?

I don’t know about wobbles. We really were run over by the eagles in the last three and a half quarters of the grand final last year, but you might consider a number of other factors:

– Collingwood were a younger side
– Many eagles fans had previous experience in 2015
– the eagles had a training drill against Melbourne
– Some real strange free kicks, such as to Vardy straight after the Mihochek goal, or the non free against Ryan that led to the Sheed goal

Sure the eagles have it over us at the moment, and the Geelong loss was a disappointment that I will hold for the rest of the year, we are building.

Winning close games, no matter the opposition, is much preferable to losing. Percentage doesn’t count for much when you win every game.
