Can’t stand that Swindon guy.

What team does he play for again?

Wilson reveals Reds' rage over ref's 'ridiculous' and 'disrespectful' action as Vest suffered neck fracture

Yep, after France he spent time learning in the best Rugby academy in the world, the Crusaders.

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

Why?

According to Demetriou when he was with Souths, they knew he was always going to be returning to Rugby at some stage.

Anything above $700K would be more than he’s on at the Roosters, so even a deal that included potential match payments of that value would still be higher.

It was only 2018, and a lot more recent than a lot of other converts.

True, but Joseph has now played against professional footballers and held his own.

Therefore has that + the recent experience of playing union

Who are these mystical players coming through the pathways that aren’t being signed? All i have seen of late is RA re-signing all the players of interest through until the Lions tour.

And you’d be wrong in assuming that the $1.6M is all coming from RA or is 100% base salary. The ARF is chipping in, as they did for Folau & Pocock as a 3rd party sponsor and potential Wallaby match payments can make up $200K of that as well.

This comment unfortunately sums up why your argument that Latrell would be an instant success lacks any merit.

The fact that you don’t know who he would be competing with for a place in the Wallabies, or how they are viewed against their peers just confirms your lack of knowledge to be making the claims you have.

Have a look at Timana Tahu’s defence at 12 v South Africa in his start against them. He was a turnstile and had no clue where he was was supposed to.

Really? That’s the only slip up by PVL?

Just imagine for a moment that he & the other boofheads like Gould said nothing in response to Sua’ali’i signing, kinda like Rugby does when one of their players go to the NRL….there would be none of this nonsense in the news at all.

And does PVL know how a boomerang works? He got that a$$ backwards too.

Rugby living rent free in NRL's head but childish chairmen of both codes raise questions on governance issues

I don’t believe that “…overspending on contracts was part of the reason the sport found itself in deficit.”

There was this thing called COVID that caused Australia to close it borders, which in turn heavily impacted the ability for RA to make any money given the international nature of both Super Rugby and Wallabies matches.

I think even the original story about Sua’ali’i signing was by a League journo before there was any announcement from RA. Of course then Gould lost his bundle, PVL followed suit…

'The NRL has lost their mind': RA chair fires back after Suaalii attack as another NRL star's interest confirmed

McLennan wasn’t even chairman when RA decided to reject Faux.

And while the deal may have been less than Faux’s upgraded offer, the Stan deal included FTA coverage and contra in form of mid week shows and advertising on 9 meaning they got more.

There are no guaranteed places in the Wallabies, just ask Vunivalu.

RA aren’t the ones constantly attacking Sua’ali’i when they talk about him, that’s muppets like Gould, Rothfield, Kent etc. McLennan had a coffee with Sua’ali’i to check and see how he’s going after all the hooha and the league journo’s treated it as a gotcha moment, again calling for him to banned from Origin etc.

Mate, it’s the league journo’s keeping it in the news.

The kid had a coffee with McLennan and they went apoplectic over it

Not a single cent spent & won’t be until 2025, yet his first years ‘reported’ salary has already been taken care of courtesy of the NRL losing their minds and keeping it in the news every week.

Haha forgot about that.

Then again Gus compared CTE to climate change so what did we expect.

'I don't want NRL to be feeder system': Gus fires back in Suaalii slanging match after Robbo blasts 'ridiculous comment'

Out of this the commenters have fallen into 2 camps:

Rational voices – Brad Fittler, Trent Robinson, Latrell Mitchell

Embarrassment & complete Goose – Phil Gould, Buzz Rothfield, Paul Kent, Mark Geyer, Brandon Smith

What did rugby say when the NRL outbid them for Sua’ali’i’s serviced when he initially decided to sign with the NRL over Union? There’s a lesson there fella’s.

FFS Phil Gould today describes what League did to Union in 1908, has done for over 100 years, continues to do & then cries like a stuck pig when 1 solitary player goes the other way.

Fittler didn’t need to comment at all, unless it was something he was considering did he?

So that explains why Fittler specifically commented this week saying he would still consider selecting him even though he’s signed with rugby?

Only when they were beset by injuries at 12, and now he’s gonna miss the RWC and is looking like losing his starting spot at the Blues.

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

No, it’s not available because most don’t have the Union background Joseph has.

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

Not necessarily correct because the players overseas are getting paid more than here. You ain’t getting 4 players that are better than anyone here for that money.

Who in Oz is not getting signed and missing out at the moment?

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

He will likely go on tour as they usually take a developmental player, but they don’t get to play unless selected for a Barbarians team.

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

It sums up why RA signing him is worth every cent.

He has been in the news every day, on the league pages and will be in the lead up to his Union debut, generating publicity for the code and getting people to tune in and see how he goes.

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

I expect there will be hand wringing and so on about how he should be banned from Origin etc. because he dares to leave

'Twice the money, half the work': V'landys trashes 'easy money' for Suaalii as Smith adds All Blacks sledge

Haha remember when we were told 100 million around the globe were going to be tuned in to watch Sonny Bill make his Roosters return & it generated $32M in publicity.

Pssst…i’ve got a bridge i want to sell you….

How many of them had played Union in the 5 years before they moved over?
