@Bondy

My brother was never ‘ment’ to go any where, he was a child playing kids soccer.

Interesting point on the Aus kick thing- an intelligent way to rebut my argument would be to lead with that

I didn’t write about United because my article is an opinion piece on what I’VE notice personally traveling back and forth from NQ and Adelaide.

Another good point with the crushers- this is a good point for an intelligent rubtle. Well done on two real points

I HAVE written articles on the AFL and will write more. So far i have 2 published on this site

if its so easy to read me, how is then so hard as to read my article for what it is? And to read through my entries into this site- if you had you would of found those two pieces on the AFL.

Is the damage to North Queensland football irreparable?

OK then i’ll just assume that your the type of soccer lover that makes me HATE the game sometimes- confusing passion for arrogance and completely close minded to anything other then your sport. I wrote this article becuase i liked the Fury, like the EPL, and have played soccer for a long time in my life.

“…you strike me as a typical non-football type, and I’ll treat you as such until I know you don’t have an agenda.”

Wow you must of done well in school, judging every text book by its cover. Agenda? My agenda is to give my opinion on sporting issues. Are you paranoid as well as arrogant?

As for concern for other codes, i’ve already written an article in which i state i believe the NRL needs to expand now, and the AFL seems to wont to dominate the country within the century (or at least thats how it acts sometimes). I’d ask you to read it, but i know you’ll just jump to your own conclusions.

Very poorly researched? How can i be poorly researched on my own opinion and on my own experiences in Townsville? The paraphrase i used from Carl Veart was from the man himself, my opinions on the Fury are from Fury fans themselves whether from forums or Townsville natives, and i never pretended to use figures, dates or quotes from secondary sources which would need to be referenced.

“Sporting clubs will organically be established and grow if/when the community desires.” undoubtedly, yes they will, but if that’s the reality why id the FFA accept a bid in a region not steeped in love for soccer? And clearly you dont understand sports as a business.

Is the damage to North Queensland football irreparable?

couldnt agree more mate

Is the damage to North Queensland football irreparable?

OF COURSE the sport will survive in NQ but without representation. And there is a real issue here in that youngsters may be turned away from playing the sport professionally without hero’s and a team at home to emulate.

Townsville and Cairns really are miles way form Brisbane- the closest major capitol is PORT MORESBY. Kids will have to leave the region to play the sport professionally. We allow that in AFL and NRL, parents will willingly send their kids off knowing its for the best and so they can achieve their dreams but those same parents now in NQ have been scorned by an FFA who (to steal a metaphore from ‘Futbanos’) didnt build their NQ house on a concrete slab but on sand.

The real issue is also the potential lost revenue. I mean it when i say Townsville and the north will one day have a massive population cashed up on mining and industry. DO the FFA really not want to be chasing the dollars in this region? It might take time, but by ruining their first attempt they might of missed the boat.

If you had actually read my article well enough to get the point i was making rather then just get on your high horse you’d understand that that’s my main argument. Comment on my argument and i’ll take yours seriously.

Is the damage to North Queensland football irreparable?

yeah mate good argument, but what happens once those aims are reached and the FFA are left behind in a decade or two when North Queensland isn’t a backwater?

Is the damage to North Queensland football irreparable?

Try reading a bit deeper go try and get passed your own outrage and you’ll find i wrote that in the FIRST PARAGRAPH.

The A-League must earn its support

I love sparking a good debate, but i feel i need to clear some air here.

DO NOT PAINT ME AS A HATER. Alot of people have.

The point of this article- to back up Dugald, to show him support and that I’m with him. I guess that’s akin to poking my head above the parapet on this site.

I would request that (and a lot of you have, and for this i thank you) readers on articles about the state of Australian Football STOP BEING BLINDED BY PASSION. Its endearing but not rational!! A Lot of good valid points are raised but shot down.

For the record, i wont stop writing about Soccer/A-league/World Football whatever. If i have opinions, i will voice them that’s the point of this site to my knowledge. And to borrow a quote from one who commented on this article;

“Here’s to us who wish us well, and those who don’t …. can go to hell”

The A-League must earn its support

LOL mate, i never once said that: The A-League would die or suffer. Know anything about the sport? I played it for years during high school and am i mad Liverpool fan (Screw Torres). As for Football hating… THIS is the attitude i don’t like. Being a confessed non-supporter of the A-League or Socceroos makes me a hater. A heretic. No. I dislike the local comp, that’s my opinion. And really, the point of my article was to back up Dugald Massey, who wrote an article FROM his own opinion and received the similar sort of negative and assumption riddled feedback as I’m getting now.

The A-League must earn its support

Lol yeah great quote mate, And i can only talk from my own experience- and that has been alot of negativity from football fans. Maybe because i was very outspoken in my lack of support for the Socceroos and the World Cup

The A-League must earn its support

And that’s fine mate, i wouldn’t dare assume what the mood is like within league heartland because i don’t live in it. I can only comment on what I’VE perceived in MY area

NRL needs to hit back hard at AFL expansion

Its an interesting point you raise mate in that fans, especially in growing areas in Western Sydney and the GC, are not finite.
There will always be competition for bums on seats, and the PERCEPTION amongst non-league people is that the AFL (not right away but in the future) plan on stealing those bums. That the future is bright and rosy for the AFL, but apparently not for the NRL. My argument deals with the perception of this weakness

NRL needs to hit back hard at AFL expansion

Good point mate, but all we see outside of ‘League Land’ is ‘Storm Salary Cap Cheating,’ Players leaving for AFL, and the constant reminder of the strength of our own league. AFL’s crows attendance and average club memberships remain higher, and we’re moving into League’s Domain- IMPOSSIBLE for the punters in Melb, Adel and Perth to assume weakness in League.

NRL needs to hit back hard at AFL expansion

I had to cut out an important part of the article Ken due to its length, but i have to stress to you that i love League. I have close family in Townsville, and have been a passionate Maroons supporter for years.

I write this article (without being condescending) out of concern for the appeal of league nationally. I’m sure you can agree perception in sport is almost as important as success, and the perception I’VE experienced in my AFL Bubble of Adelaide is one of a bleak future for league, and a strong prosperous one for Aussie Rules. If new fans are to keep coming to league, new markets, as well as ensuring old ones stay strongholds. My motivation is to stress the need of the NRL to stress its viability to the Australian market.
